The whole rivet issue is interesting.... every game needs them, but a press is just expensive enough that it's impossible to justify. I like the idea of the pressless rivets as sold by pinbits, but I hope others had better luck with them than I.

I went through most of a packet trying to get them to hold properly. It took some effort to get the feel of installation, but in the end while most were installed very straight, I found little cuts in the many of the clips, which does no good, and even those which looked like a perfect install could be slid out with my thumb. It may have been my lack of installation prowess, but ultimately if they are as touchy as they appear to be, I think I'm back to begging for use of someone else's press, for lack of confidence they will ever hold properly.

id use a small nut drive to place them rather than the plastic sleeve they give you. then you can get nice even straight pressure.

I've had probably a 90% success rate with the pressless rivets from Pinbits, but I now have a Third Hand Rivet Tool, which is fairly cheap and works well. http://home.earthlink.net/~mountainminded/html/the_better_tonka_rivet_tool_-_.html

Yea the Third Hand Rivet Tool looks like a nice option... Looks like he sells on ebay and http://www.arbortime.com/

Just picked one up as well. I have access to a press but it is not so great for awkward stuff

Nice! I've been using a hammer and a punch.

A nice press, but well over $200 shipped... Their $60 Rivet Press Kit can be installed in a $50 Harbor Freight press for some savings but ultimately one has to anticipate a LOT of riveting work to make it worth while.

The third hand is a lot more nimble than re bench top press. I've used the bench one on my last two swaps, will see how the third hand compared in my current one. The Pinrestore just is pretty simple to do so its not that much more expensive to make a press over the third hand tool.

    I bought this press:

    http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?PMAKA=805-1005&PMPXNO=948887&PARTPG=INLMK3

And the Pinrestore conversion kit. Works great. I had to replace the backboard on an NBA Fastbreak that I rebuilt and having the press made life much easier, it was like 15 rivets.

I also bought the master rivet kit that Pinrestore sells. I'm sure you can get all of the pinrestore parts cheaper elsewhere but it was worth the extra cost to me to just buy it and be done versus spending a lot of time researching what I needed.

I have Pinbits pressless kit in hand now. got it about 10 days ago and was going to use it to rivit a new jump ramp to the playfield of my RFM. My ramp has some cracks that don't effect gameplay, but once I drill those rivits out, there is no turning back. I keep looking at this pressless kit trying to figure out how I will be able to align everything up correctly, working dead in the middle of my RFM playfleid with it populated. yikes!

I can't see how you would do this without removing the ramp completely? Keep it straight and tap lightly, so they say

@baiter...yes, the jump ramp is dead in the center of the playfield and pops up with a coil. The thin metal ramp is cracked on one side, it still works fine, just a detail item I would like to correct. I am going to make sure I do a lot of homework before drilling out those rivits...

    Try www.sapphireproducts.co.uk

You'll need to specify diameter, length and material.

I think the main man is called Richard and he will do you a deal if you are prepared to send cash
