As we have all seen, the side cabinet artwork is so beautiful and colorful. My fear is the sun will do a number on it fast.
How are you folks protecting it?
I know they sell pinball machine covers, but since I play my machine daily, seems like a pain to take that off and put it back on so often.
Any kind of clear coat work? A sun blocker lotion (don't laugh, some people use it on their dashboards)? Simple bed sheet?

Well, the cabinet itself is already clear coated. If you are going to put it in a room where direct sunlight will hit it then I would invest in a pinball cover. I just have mine in the basement where no sunlight will ever hit it, lol.

Sad to say, yes, my machine is exposed to 4 windows! Ouch.
It might be a pain, but a proper cover may be necessary.
Just hoping someone comes up with a great idea.

Put UV film on the windows

This.

If you are uncomfortable doing it, worried about the quality of the install, call a window tinting place locally (even ones that do cars). You'd be surprised what options they have for you, and how inexpensive it really is.

I'm probably the only person with a completed empty cabinet. We were given one during prototyping. Head, cabinet, green trim and green lock down green legs, speaker bar... Some day it will be for sale

didn't someone already post the results of uv film showing that it did next to nothing for protecting against fade?

I picked up a sheet of the owens-corning "pink" foamular, cut it to size and inserted it into my window frames to block out the light for the room that the machines are in.

I don't think pink insulation would look good in my living room (see pic) and sounds like even that window cling stuff isn't going to protect it too well either.
I do like the sound ouf the spray. I might look into that: http://303products.com/index.php/303r-aerospace-protectant.html

being it's clear coated wouldn't a carnuba based marine wax solve this?
