I know that is a giant thread going about predator, but is there anyway someone can give a quick summary of what is going on so I don't have to sit and read through all the crap. I know I am being lazy but I have a feeling I am not the only one who would like to know whats going on with out dedicating hrs to reading.

Oh Boy. What a mess. Unfortunate.

So was more than the initial $250 per pre-order price collected?

A lot of people seem to be paid in full already and plenty of others at 2500 and up.

    Thanks.

Wow...I figured it would end up poorly, but not this poorly. Hope everyone gets their monies back quick.

    What BS.

"The ones who were gently passing the complete Predator story forward via email, early, to key members of the hobby and selected Pinsiders (mainly trusted & respected Immortals, as well as Moderators, etc). Specifically, “we” are a handful of regular everyday pinballers, and most of us are everyday Pinsiders you already know."

Basically, we have important information, but we are only going to tell certain people to make us feel that much more special. "Key members of the hobby." WTF?

WOW, just wow. Fraud from the moment it was discussed. I didn't see this coming. Not to this extent.

So if the game is complete. Why couldn't a license be bought and the machine be sold. I am sure it would sell more than a thousand units.

It's way passed that. Apparently, cease and desist letters were ignored for one. And if you were Fox, and you understood the potential licensee had already guaranteed product to pre-orderers, guess what happens to the price of the license?

Another party reviewed their finances and at the cost of the game ($4750) they were barely breaking even, even without the license AND if they built them all themselves. And who is going to give another dime to them?

None of the artwork has been approved. It might need major revisions or completely new art altogether.

Wow - really sorry for all who put deposits down.

The real question is whether these two guys are naive idiots or crooks... Perhaps a little bit of both.

Excellent Pinball News link providing clear and concise reporting.

Martin at Pinball News is an incredibly talented writer. Extremely well written, and informative, without unprofessional personal opinion.

The other link was typical pinside blather, written by the anonymous whistle-blowers justifying themselves, which was completely unnecessary. The truth was going to come out eventually.

The credibility of the project was always a known risk from the very beginning. You take your chances early on, and hope things work out. It's unfortunate things failed, but it's not unbelievable.

    Anything to update?

No refunds have been provided by Skit-B/Kevin.

Some have gotten their money via credit-card charge-back.

At least one person has sued Kevin in small claims and won a judgement. It remains to be seen whether Kevin will pay the judgement on time.

Kevin claims to be still trying to secure a license, though some (including myself) perceive this as a stalling tactic, as well as to diffuse the allegations that he sold the game based on fraudulent claims.

The FBI and local law enforcement have dropped the criminal case. The local police have said that no one in MI has come forward and therefore they can't pursue the case. Since then, some have come forward. No news on that front however.

One person has contacted the Fox attorney. Results of that are still uncertain.

Wow, to some extent it sounds as though there is little repercussion to be had. I'd like to say he was doing this for the love of pinball when he started but the fact that he lied about the licensing from the start kills almost any sympathy I have for the guy. I am sure none of us know how hard it is to actually build and produce a game, but the difference is none of us would claim to be able to do so and take people's money in the mean time.

    #28 8 years ago

I was lucky on this. After seeing how horrible it played at a show, I asked for a refund on my 250. Got it returned in about two weeks.

This is the same company that people were naive enough (me included) to post about what game Skit B would make second. Boy were most of us wanting a Predator pin so bad we failed to see the writing wall and use common sense.
