So I'm a new pinhead (absolutely love this site)... I was cleaning my machine (I've had it a whopping 4 days) and when I was done I noticed the solenoid that kicks back the balls into play was hanging by it's wires and the entire bracket had come off. So after I passed out, I reattached all the screws back in with the spring and the piston back into the solenoid. I ran a solenoid test and my first 7 solenoids are not firing. So now that I'm into cardiac arrest, I will take any advice. How bad did I mess up my machine?

Its most likely a fuse.

You may have a common wire between them that is detached. Like exflerer said, make sure the fuse for the solenoids is working. F105 on the driver board is the fuse for the first 8 solenoids. You need to check the fuse with a multimeter with the game off and take the fuse out of the holder. If fuse is ok, check the wiring to each coil and make sure nothing desoldered. Also check the J107-3 in the backbox on the Power Driver Board as the first 7 solenoids go to this spot on the board (per manual). If wiring is ok, you could have a cold solder joint on the back of the J107-3 pin, this would just need some new solder reflowed in the back of the board for that pin.

Hope this helps.

Tom.

Breathe. You will fix it. You have not trashed your machine. You will receive help until the issue is addressed. Soon you will be playing it again and have your first fix under your belt and enjoy the machine all the more.

Amen! Preach it, Brother!

I am concerned for your health.... The diagnosis.... Sell your Wh20 to me

#8 12 years ago

Originally, I thought the wh20 would be buried with me many years from now. I'm starting to think this time may come sooner than I thought.

Did you ever get it working?

Thanks Tom! I actually decided to call a local pinball guy to come out and check things out. I'm concerned that I'm not pulling out the playfield properly. Literally, the entire bracket with all 4 screws came out of the particle board. I'm hoping that he show me a few pointers and get this issue resolved. It's more of a tutorial for me than anything else. I'll let you guys know how it turned out.

You guys were spot on! It was a blown fuse (two actually).. Working great now. Thanks to everyone who responded!
