I'm finally going to break down and get a power dolly. I know many people use the Escalera, but I've read some horror stories, and question how well it works on carpet. A guy I recently bought a game from said his Escalera tore up his carpet and he had to remove it from the steps.

I've read the old threads, but there wasn't much talk about carpet.

I've never used either model, but Powermate *seems* less scary to use, but who knows. They are also a lot heavier and quite a bit more expensive, but I'm OK biting the bullet for the best/safest lifting experience.

I don't have any other special needs, just a straight shot up carpeted stairs to a hardwood floor at the top (which I need to be careful not to scratch).
