I am offering powder coating services,I can do anything you can imagine brass, chrome and all at a short turn around and fair price. Metal flake you name it. I take alot of pride in my work and I am simply offering an alternative to some other shops. I've seen their work and it's top notch, I feel i bring prices that will leave you with positive equity on your game as well as very short turn around times. I guarantee satisfaction. Starting a Facebook page and I will have a Indiana Jones at the Cleveland show I did for a customer as well as a Terminator 2. Feel free to ask me for a quote and turn around time. I can do custom pinball cups as well.

    Quoted from Buzz:

That purple would be great for MET as well. Is there a big price difference between a color and chrome?

Not really, only jump really is gold cause its a 3 stage process that's a hugeee pain. Good news gold aka brass will never dull

    Quoted from PunkPin:

Can you do black nickel? And if so will you do it on large pieces?

I can do black nickle, same process as gold but I have a deep black with s super shine that looks as good for cheaper. Answer to your question is yes this is that black

To respond to prices is it varies per game based on if your game needs powdercoat removed (example modern stern rough texture) or if it's raw, what paints we choose and some people want entire game including wireforms. I can tell you this I guarantee I can beat anyone's price and do great work! Always keep in mind if you send me dented etc. Parts I will do my best but not everything can be fixed. I guarantee satisfaction and you pay once I submit photos and your approval I will ship

    Decided to set some prices

    If I get raw material:
    Legs- 70.00
Lock bar -40.00 foam will be provided
    Hidges -30.00
    Side rails - 30.00
    Shooter rodhousing- 20.00
    Shooter gun 65.00
    Coin door 100.00
Wireforms vary per game but usually around 60.00
    Bolts 5.00

Add 10 per set for chrome add 20 per for gold glow in the dark 7 per set. So example I want chrome legs it's 70 plus 20 so 90.00.

    Painted/powdercoat/glue tape fee is

    Legs 100.00
    Lock bar 50.00
    Hinges 30.00
    Side rails 55.00
    Shooter housing 20.00
    Shooter gun 70.00
    Coin door 120.00

Add 10 per chrome and 20 per gold , glow in the dark 7 per set

Hope these prices seem fair. Got alot of questions and had to think off top my head.

    #22 6 years ago

    These prices fair, high?

Here is an example of brass vs gold. My ultimate suggestion going forward this new gold process is amazing but not everyone's taste. It is much stronger and more yellow but, on Wire forms and in game parts leds, dim lights etc tend to wash brass to a more chrome finish, basicly they just look sjiney. Some games gold trim works some it don't. My suggestion though if you want your in game stuff to pop, without a doubt go gold and if you play in a darker environment, again go gold. You have to trust me on this, it looks over powering on its own but it looks great on games. ALSO I can do copper, I really want to do a Frankenstein or a junkyard in flat copper

It's a hopper, gravity feed can't give you a consistent finish, candy, chrome brass etc it'll show up as terrible orange peel. I'm using a kool koat 3.0 dpw

    #61 6 years ago

Yea, it blows was to swap alot. The little cup attachment they make works great too. Plus it's easy with an air nossle to induce moisture in your system. I run 2 water separators and a inline disposable filter. I agree it sucks but gotta keep the wheels turning

    #63 6 years ago
    Quoted from Skins:

I didn't mean to side track your thread. Your powder looks great. I was just curious if you had a quick way you were swapping. I agree on the moisture. I learned the hard way. I have 3 filters too. Thanks for the info.

Quickest way is if you buy those quick change hoppers that plug directly into your gun. Then no lines need cleaned.

    Quoted from embien:

Wow, that black looks nice. Can old Williams and Bally legs with minor surface rust and oxidation (tiny black spots) be easily prepped for powder coating or is it not worth the effort?

Yes I have a sand blaster and I can clean them. Raw is ideal but I can make it look great

    #106 6 years ago

Certain finishes with metal flakes and colors will work with less than ideal condition legs cause the paint is busy and masks it, but chrome, gold, high gloss black etc show everything. Legs aren't so bad cause they aren't really ever eye level.lock bars are a must if they have dents it's what you always see. Now some pins like the A list or stern etc should always go for highest quality but lower grade you have to ask your self how perfect is it worth to you. Know what I mean, no matter what I guarantee you'll be happy with my work

What makes a coin door look good. Although you will never see it, to have a great looking coin doot each piece must be shot and look as good as possible. Each piece must be of the best finish for a perfect assembly

    Quoted from WeirPinball:

Yes - I had to break out the files and sandpaper - took quite a bit of work. Note: I haven't done business with the OP, so this is not a bash on his work....

Agreed it's a total pain in the ass, I found you have to control the flow on the edges and wet sand before it fully cures. Finally every door is different. I check my clearance prior to paint and adjust as needed. Powder adds .020 .mil so the door and housing is an added .040 now. In a perfect world that's your working clearance. Adjust prior to get .060 to .070. Sand on the back side of the hindges to get your clearance. Long story short yes it blows

    Quoted from woody76:

I would imagine the only time you have issues with powder coated parts going back together are for 2 stage powders? I have never had problems with powder but chrome is complete pain.
Just from experience, If you do a little bit of prep work. Use a dremel on Bezel door entries and the flaps before the powder/plating is applied it goes right back together no problem. cover threads and plug screw holes and your all good.

Dremel is a must, also high temp tape is an option. 2 stage and chrome is a pain. Only way to get a good finish is to lay that BBQ sauce on thick.

    #131 6 years ago
    Quoted from WeirPinball:

Most of the stuff I get done is 2 or more stage.

Invest in high temp tape. You can leave it on for the whole process. Bothstages. 5 minutes of tape saves you hour of hand work

    Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

Nice pics!! Is is worth doing chrome on wireforms, or are they already effectively chrome plated?

I'll post pics but you can revive beat up wrecked wireforms to look brand new. Rechroming good looking wireforms isn't worth it when you can buy chrome polish cheap

    #142 6 years ago
    Quoted from markp99:

Those look nice. Any thoughts on durability of powder coated wireforms over time? Aren't these finishes a bit brittle? Any better/worse than a traditional chrome process?

I get this question alot. Best way to answer it is with the proper curing all powdercoat should last extremely long. This stuff is a nightmare to get off. Best example is they use powdercoat on car parts, rims, industrial racks etc, car rims and these things Will take 10x more abuse than any pin can dish out. Lastly if they ever wear I WILL REDO THEM FOR FREE! I stand by my work, always will

rdoyle1978... I do like the blacked out TZ. Do you feel the Glossy is too loud?
I'm thinking of doing my TZ & ST-TNG in black. May consider a semi-gloss instead of high gloss.
    Thoughts on that @rdoyle & @Robertstone
    Thanks Kerry

I can do what ever you like but the high gloss in my opinion looks extremely deep and makes the game look high end. Plus it's a very raw dark as it really don't have an undertone and matches the idea of the twilight zone

Robertstone0407... I really like your work.
I'm struggling with the pictures of the Gold / Copper / Brass tones. I have IJ, WCS and maybe PoTC. I just can't decide off the picts.
Idea: could you do small samples ie: 1/2 dollar sized that could be mailed? Even if you would charge a small fee for those samples. That way they could be put up against the games for decision, in our game room's lighting.
I also have a GB prem, BSD and Congo , plus both TZ & ST-TNG. Those are games I would love to PC. I'm not sure if I want a gloss black or semi-gloss for TZ & ST-TNG. A few color samples for all would be great.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks
    Kerry

Yes,I can do color samples. You can also order free color samples from prismaticpowders.com where I buy my supplies. Just click the order free color swatch tab and they will mail it to you.

    Quoted from tonycip:

Hi first your work looks great .I'm restoring my IJ and had a couple questions.
I played the one you did at the Ohio show
Was that the brass color? It looked nice but I would never mistake it as brass.
And 2nd the finish was textured almost like a hammered look was that intended?
    Is Smoother Obtainable thanks
    Again great work!

Brass powdercoat will never replace true brass plating, also part of the hammered look was orange peel from the inconsistency of the heavily used parts. I had to blast them severely to remove corrosion etc so my advice is to do chrome powder go new. There's plus and minuses to a brass powdercoat vs plating. Plus cheaper, more durable, never patina. Negatives it will never truly have the deepness of plating, never be as slick. Other than those two things it's the way to go for fractions of the price. Glad you enjoyed it,looking forward to doing more

If you buy a new lock bar from pinball life they use a glue instead of spot weld so there's no Mark's and I've coated several and had great results. It's up to you, they don't bug me. Personal taste. Far as Bondo etc. Powdercoat won't react well with it.

Sorry, I have not looked over all your work in the thread but was wondering if you can do 'veining' (I think that is the correct term)?
    similar to this
side rails are a 2 stage fade.
    lock down is a 1

Yes I can do it. Little more involved but if you want to do it send me a PM I have an open spot or two for November and it's around 3 week turnaround usually less

received my pearl white whirlwind parts Friday........they look great!!! it will still be awhile before they are installed but will be an awesome improvement to the game...........did you get a special buy on the sponge bob tape.......my package was covered in it also???

Lol no it was a gift for Christmas and it made me laugh. I do it to most boxes. Simple things in life

    #256 6 years ago

I'm defidently getting faster and I think past few games have been a 2 week turn around. November is filling up and I'll start on December but January I most likely won't coat since my baby is due. Then pick it back up when time is right

    Quoted from ViperJelly:

Robert did an excellent job on my STTNG with Lazer Black (rails, lockbar, legs, hinges, gun handle, and wireforms). I took a few pics with lights on and off. Note that this pin also has pinstadium lights and I enjoy the effect on the right wireform (stars or warp effect). The multi color flake looks great and Robert was very easy to work with and has been very responsive. I will likely be getting my LOTR done next year. Note that the pinstadium lights are on in some and off in others.

Looks great! It all comes together when i see it installed. Thank you for your business

    Quoted from Kerry_Richard:

Robertstone... I really love all the different colors you're doing.
Question; I've never had any PC done before. Some jobs look textured, while others appear to be smooth. Are these different finishes available with color choice as well?

Best way to know is, what do you want? heavy metal flake will have a slight texture, candy colors will have variation from game to game, some multilayer will feel smooth as glass. Stuff that has multilayers will tend to have a slight orange peel. Im willing to work with you on exactly what you want. Thing to remember is every paint is differnt.

    Quoted from spfxted:

    Hey Robert....just a question.....
Would it make sense to powdercoat Cliffy's? I'd like if the ones for my Scared Stiff were black or red. Would they chip?
Also, can stainless steel be made in different colors? I know there are black stainless watch bands.
    Thanks...

Usually they anodize stainless. Cliffys can technically be powdercoated but it makes the tolerances on the wholes even smaller. Id look into anodizing. Its the best option on those. I may look into that in the future

    Quoted from Drenden:

How are you making custom colors? What's the process?

You can mix colors that one happens to be a white, chrome and another color. Final finish and clear coat process

    #372 6 years ago
    Quoted from Drenden:

No i mean how are you mixing them? And how do you prep the metal? Do you use chemicals?

Can't tell you how I'm mixing. General process is sand blast, degrease with denatured alcohol. Wipe with lint free tac cloth, hit with a clean torch to ensure all moisture is gone and burn off dust then paint

    #374 6 years ago
    Quoted from Drenden:

Ahh.. I didn't realize mixing poly powder was an industry secret? I'll just ask Alex.

Haha I actually did and Alex gave me a straight answer that didn’t require a novel be written.

They should put an EL panel behind it. They can be cut to shape and bought in several colors. Would look nice.
Any suggestions for an X-men pro? I'm considering this but I've got an artistic block. If I do this I don't want to go with the same old color that everyone puts on them (plain blue or red).

Hmm thats a tough one cause the pro has so many colors, metallic black would look great or do black with blue and gold flake. It'd be similar to the greenflake i posted above but blue and gold, or red and blue, orblue and purple. All those pairs would look great
