Just for clarity: pics 1 and 3 are gold, the middle one is brass(?)

Quoted from Robertstone0407:Before and after, saved this guy a couple hundred from buying a new door
Holy... wow.
Quoted from Skins:I didn't mean to side track your thread. Your powder looks great. I was just curious if you had a quick way you were swapping. I agree on the moisture. I learned the hard way. I have 3 filters too. Thanks for the info.
Don't you need an oven to bake it on at the end? What do you do for that skins?
Just sent him some parts - looking forward to posting pictures when I get them back! Dr Stone has been great to deal with so far. Very patient with a dummy like me about all this stuff
Quoted from Robertstone0407:So this pinballcoin door was beat to hell. Now it's shiney and chrome riding eternal. Here's a demo of how reflective it is with my business card. Throw a clear coat on it and it's scratch and tarnishing free
that's stunning! Do you have any pics of what the door looked like before? I have a feeling the one I'm sending you is just as beat up
Quoted from embien:Wow, that black looks nice. Can old Williams and Bally legs with minor surface rust and oxidation (tiny black spots) be easily prepped for powder coating or is it not worth the effort?
I went through this decision - look on PBL and "raw" (I.e. Unpolished) hardware goes for much less than the regular stuff. $40 for legs I think? Dr Stone can verify but - for me - I thought "why try to save $40 and end up wasting everyone's time if I don't like it?"
That said, he's doing amazing work either way. I wish I had a pin that I could throw some gold on!
Quoted from Robertstone0407:What makes a coin door look good. Although you will never see it, to have a great looking coin doot each piece must be shot and look as good as possible. Each piece must be of the best finish for a perfect assembly
Did not realize how much work this is. (We never do, do we?) You have done amazing work here. Looking forward to sending you more stuff!!
Quoted from WeirPinball:Problem is after a coin door is powder coated, assembly is a total pain in the ass. Speaking from experience here - looks great once it is back together, but I don't like doing it.
is this because the pieces don't fit together as well due to the extra thickness of the powder coat?
Quoted from Robertstone0407:So I am really wanting to try out a pinsound board but been to lazy to buy one. Anyone got a spare they wanna trade for work
I'd consider that, can help you out with programming it too. What game? It's best on TZ and Getaway
Quoted from Robertstone0407:I get this question alot. Best way to answer it is with the proper curing all powdercoat should last extremely long. This stuff is a nightmare to get off. Best example is they use powdercoat on car parts, rims, industrial racks etc, car rims and these things Will take 10x more abuse than any pin can dish out. Lastly if they ever wear I WILL REDO THEM FOR FREE! I stand by my work, always will
That's a pretty damn good warranty!
Quoted from Kerry_Richard:rdoyle1978... I do like the blacked out TZ. Do you feel the Glossy is too loud?
I'm thinking of doing my TZ & ST-TNG in black. May consider a semi-gloss instead of high gloss.
Thoughts on that @rdoyle & @Robertstone
Thanks Kerry
I don't - I believe my Hobbit has semi-gloss and it works for that machine but for TZ in particular I wanted it to be "deep" like Rob pointed out. It sort of pulls you in. That said, EVERY smudge in the world stands out, but you just have to keep it clean.
Quoted from Silverballer:What the heck is a mo-mo or should I ask? It probably would not hurt me to get out redneckville more often. Where I live momo stands for Missouri Monster, or Bigfoot.
Anyway, I can hardly wait for my parts to come back. They look awesome. I have always preferred the original stainless but no more. Roberts work looks fantastic and will allow me to integrate the armor into the theme of the pin. I have never thought of it in that way. Check out the image gallery for this thread. Pretty cool to see all his work side-by-side.
Quoted from Robertstone0407:You can read my businesscard in it. Shine that lasts forever
You know. you should get some cards printed up backwards and take a picture with the reflection in some of your work - would be brilliant marketing!
Quoted from fnosm:Wouldn't it be easier to flip the photo in Photoshop?
Definitely, just not quite as cool
Fascinating! Never thought of doing hardware INSIDE the game, but that is gonna look awesome.. post pics when installed...
That blood spurt looks incredible!!! Was that for Ted? or was his the stone color you did on the previous page?
Quoted from Dee-Bow:Its pinside! You don't gotta do nuttin to feed a troll! Great work Robert ! Even if Drenden's friends eat oranges for breakfast.. I'd love to do up my MET one day, if only i could decide what colors!
It would have helped if his analogy made any sense... actually on second thought.. nope it would still make no sense. Maybe he needed a Snickers?
Quoted from spfxted:With Eyeball!
My god, I already wanted a scared stiff and just seeing this - it looks perfect!!
Quoted from spfxted:No perfect....but damn nice!
AND....one just came up for sale (check northeast for sale) Looks nice!!
I saw that!! I’d have to sell something to go in on that one - it looks really well taken care of
Quoted from spfxted:Make an offer! Scared Stiff is one of the best pinball machines EVER created!
And the one pin my wife said she would actually want in the house!
Quoted from Robertstone0407:Very cool silver metallic vein finish
Rob do you know what game that’s going on?
Quoted from Robertstone0407:Its actually the base coat for the green i did but looks great without a top coat.very very cool stuff. Look great on a monster bash
Lol you are a great salesman. Need another month or two! Cabinet is coming along beautifully
Quoted from moonwk:Do you have a chromed apron to fit a Tron Pro?
Rob is there a powder coat that looks like chrome ?
Quoted from Robertstone0407:Yes but to be honest its a good base for a top coat and on small items, as a stand alone its not a good replacement for real plating
Interesting, thanks just curious
Quoted from lurch:Hey I want to send you two coin doors. One of them had some goofy plates over the coin slots which I had to drill out to get off. Any suggestions on how to plug these holes before I send to you?
Kwik-steel!
Quoted from lurch:Does that stuff expand and contract with the surrounding metal? I dont want it popping out in a few weeks/months.
I don’t believe so, it is a metal/epoxy composite
Quoted from Robertstone0407:Dont panic oven is fixed. The world is in order
WHEW. Looks like it only took an hour. Did you check that it was plugged in!
Quoted from Robertstone0407:Tried to do a shipping estimate and it wont give a price
That means you have to call - they'll give you a price over the phone. It also means it will be expensive
Quoted from Robertstone0407:Congo set going out
Rob what's the black color on the Congo?
Quoted from thundergod76:Has anyone had slower ball speeds once their wireforms were powdered? Did they need to be waxed? Considering getting some powdered. Thanks.
You should wax anything the all ever touches , wireforms, ball guides, ramps, everything
Quoted from Robertstone0407:Its dark out now but the Best part will be tomorrow bud. Lockbar reveal
YES. This rules. Can't wait to see that box w/ the Stone Cold tape .. heheh
Quoted from Robertstone0407:Some gold plate going out the door
Yeah you know I’m gonna get the rest of that done after seeing that pic. Rob you are making me poor!
Quoted from Robertstone0407:Drum roll. This is 100% powdercoat. Going on a monster bash with blood red and ironstone finish. Damn it looks good
WOW!! That looks even better than I imagined!
Quoted from spfxted:HEY!!
lol. I literally asked Rob to copy your SS. Hey at least it’s on a different game!
Quoted from Robertstone0407:Im thinking of doing a guardians of the galaxy set with dark purple metallic and gold hex patterns on the side rails, lock bar etc. Do guys like this pattern. This is not the colors or final product just laying it out. Would anyone be interested in this set?
That looks great - sort of what I was asking about as far as pinstripes, but that looks WAY better
Got some MB armour from Rob installed this weekend - and snuck in one pic of an IJ lockbar as I am considering doing that game too..
Iron on black color, GREAT texture, almost looks like leather. I need some more stainless steel bolts and the look will be complete!

Quoted from Robertstone0407:That monster bash had a kruzman playfield dont it. Your a lucky man
Well right now I'm a poor man!! Haha but this game now looks as good as it plays
