I love when people go to the trouble of sending in photo's of your work on their games, it really shows off your work so much more effectively than the parts alone. If you're not already doing this a dedicated website with a catalog of your customers games (With their consent I'm sure) along with the specific colour you used, or to not give away trade secrets, your branded version of the colour would be really helpful for potential buyers.

To me, that's the most challenging part of considering powder coating the armor without damaging the cabinet art. In addition to possibly bending the side rail, which shows up significantly with a smooth shinny new color on it.
I just finished powdercoating the IJ that I recently bought. This was my first game to tackle the problem you mention. It had been recently decaled, and the rail tape was adhered quite well. The side rails had some slight dents in them, so I ordered a set from PBL. I'm confident that I could have removed the rails without bending them, but it was nice to only be worried about protecting the cabinet decals.
I started by removing the hinges. I then took a Stanley knife with a brand new blade, and carefully cut under the edge of the side rails at an upward, 45° angle. The goal is to cut through the decal as far from the rail edge as possible. I then used a sticker peeler to slowly cut through the tape, pulling it towards my body in a controlled fashion. I ordered this set:

For me, the plastic worked the best. If I hit a spot that was extra tough, I used the sharp metal tool to cut vertically first. It took about 5 minutes per rail.
It's hard to photograph this finish. Even from across the room, the gold sparkles flicker as you get closer. Ink Black with Extreme Adams Gold from Prismatic.

Gorditas... Your IJ looks beautiful!
I too have done a similar method; however what I used was a concrete trowel with pointed tip. I took a file and sharpen the edges of that trowel. I got 2 thin clear plastic 1/16" thick, 3" x 12" width to gently slide up under the edge of glass rail. I used the sharpened trowel with rubber mallet, to cut thru the heavy duty double sided tape, like you did. As I progressed, I rotated the 2 protective plastics panels one after the other. This allowed me to carefully protect the original side art and reinstall the undamaged glass rails after powder coating.
Note: on games I'm redecalling, I use same sharpened concrete trowel, without cabinet protection. I simply fill & sand any slight blemishes I made to the cabinet, then paint and decal.
Another satisfied customer checking in. Would have posted sooner, but didn't want to take pictures until I got the DBA plate back from Pinnovators. (Who graciously swapped the kit over to the powder coated plate free of charge. Great people.)
Anyway - a Deadpool premium. Didn't want to go red due to the cab art and found the pics of ones done in various blues to be a bit overpowering for my tastes. Damn near everything looks good in black, so here we are. Though Robert would have to confirm - I think the base might be a really really dark blue? I have no idea. Looks black in most lights, with the blue flake really coming out when you get closer, and it's really really nice and sparkly when in bright light. Couldn't be happier.
