Just hooked up the marquee topper to my POTC.

Tried playing the tournament mode for the 1st time. The tournament game plays 3 balls. Is there a way I can set it to 5 ball for tournament play?

Also, how do I set it up so that I can enter my 1st AND last name for high scores in tournament mode?

I can enter both first and last name in tournament mode on my TSPP, and the tournament mode plays 5 ball.

TOPS - tournament set up. Select 1 thru 10 balls.

You can't in TOPS.

Tournament mode is different from TOPS. If you have the extra board in whitestar games you can do TOPS, and in SAM System games.

In whitestar and SAM if you just set game to tournament mode in settings, that just takes away random features or awards, equals the playfield so to speak.

In this tournament mode, change game/ball setting from 3 to 5.

Thanks Lloyd,

I'll have to take another look, I guess.

I set the machine to 5 ball in the game system adjustment menu. I didn't see where there was a 3/5 ball setting adjustment in tournament mode.

I meant if you selected tournament mode, not TOPS. You change it in game system adjustment. I believe only 3/5 ball available.

TOPS set up is different.

Lloyd,

I'm a little confused.

I know the system I recently installed on my TSPP is the Tops kit.
On my POTC, I just installed a Beta Brite marquee topper, then selected tournament mode by using the tournament game start button on the lockdown bar to initiate game play.

I don't see anywhere in the tournament set-up a setting for entering your name or 3/5 ball settings.

POTC doesn't require a tournament kit...am I correct?

That is correct.

If the board and right harnesses are in it, in tournament set up, you should see the same menu as you do in POTC. Though maybe not bump N win style.

The Stern whitestar pins I had had it in, you could select 1 to 10 balls. In tournament start stuff. Where you select start, stop, cash or not, increments or not, etc.

You have to select custom start in Tops to select the number of balls. I believe quick start defaults to three balls.

HSTD initials is a standard setting. Changing it to 10 characters will work for all tournament modes. Player Competition and Competition Mode settings are different. Both are standard settings. Read your manual to see what each does. The Tops setup has it's own menu selection and it's own section of the manual.

Thanks for the help guys....

I think I have the 3/5 ball part fixed...went to tournament set-up/custom. Switched the setting from bump to high scores. I'm not sure, just yet, if the machine will allow 1st and last names just yet....gonna go play a game and find out.

Thanks again for the quick help.

Update...

The tournament mode now plays at the 5 ball setting.

BUT...

I still can't seem to find the setting that will allow 1st and last names.

HSTD Initials. Standard Settings. In the mid-30's. Default is 3, you need to change it to 10.

This may be a dumb question, or a dumb person, but why do you WANT 5 ball tournament mode?
