how to turn the ship test is all right
during the game,
sails do not fall down
i have the same problem and i havent figured it out yet. sometimes my ship has difficulty coming back up. jus tdont have teh time to look into it right now. what version of cod are you running?
I actually am having an issue going the other direction. My sails drop fine (I was told when they first were sticking to make sure that solenoid was dropping the "L" bracket to allow them to fall and it wound up that the black jacketed cable was rubbing a bit against it. I just repositioned it and that fixed that problem), however my ship won't go all the way down all the time. Sometimes it does, and sometimes it only goes down halfway.
The motor runs but it doesn't make it all the way down sometimes. I don't see anything binding when i remove the glass, and the motor definitely runs. I don't hear gears grinding or binding so I don't think it's the gearbox.
If I take the ship out I don't see anything protruding that the ship would catch on.
Could it be the clutch? I bought a new one put haven't put it in. I also have looked at the wear track. I don't see any gouges or other imperfections that the sliding bolt could get hung up on.
Didn't mean to thread-jack, but figured it was sort of apro po as we are talking about the PotC ship.
Quoted from busa32927:
do you have to remove the ship completely to make this adjustment?
Up end the ship in ship test and turn off when it's straight up and down. A couple connectors and some bolts. Slides down easily. Tighten bolts on plastic clutch.
Reinstall. See if it's better. Cheaper than a new motor/gearbox.

ok i will try that this weekend. lol on another note i noticed my pirates is on version 1.12 i will be updating the code this weekend too. anyone have a video on this?
Life has finally given me some free time. does anyone have a video on removing the ship. i searched youtube and couldnt find any.
What was the adjusting of the "L" bracket? other than making sure the black cable doesnt rub.
thanks for the help guys
I found the best way to remove the ship is:
1) Remove the sails from the ship (4 screws) and set aside.
2) Go into the ship test menu and lower the ship into the "sunk" position.
3) Eject all the balls or plug the trough with a towel.
4) Turn off the machine.
5) Lift the playfield into the upright position, leaning against the backbox.
6) Disconnect the 4 electrical connectors (motor, switches, 2 solenoid)
7) Remove the bolts connecting the ship mechanism to the bottom of the PF
8) Pull the ship mechanism away from the PF.
Easily comes out through the hole in the PF if you remove the sails first. You can get it out with the sails connected, its just a little more tricky.
Just a quick thank you to all who posted to this topic. Help was right at my finger tips when I needed it. You all are the best!!
