Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Not sure why there's such a Pinside Freakout over this, it's just the hyperbolic conclusion of 5 years of Lebowski and Alien ads.
Pinsiders can't help themselves: If it's bad game that is rare and breaks all the time, they want it, and they don't care what it will cost to get it.
I wouldn't let it get to you, you don't want a POTC so what do you care?

It's like TOM/ToTAN - not a great game for a competition style player or one who loves fast/brutal SS style, but a game that can strike awe and happiness in many who just get taken back by the package.

It's a great game - but these people willing to blow their wad like this at scale is disturbing.

Quoted from Animal:

I felt sorry for the poor bastards who bought original MM and MB for 15k - 20k before word the remakes.

That would have been extremes. No one was paying that kind of money for games consistently except the real rare titles. MM was demanding pretty much the highest of any of the normally produced games.. and a beater would still get like 7-8k... but people weren't paying 15k+ unless they were a HEP or something. The game was more like 12-13k price point.. and that's why everyone jumped at the idea of a fresh NIB 8k MMr. And MB was never near those price points.

Think more about those people who spent so much time and energy trying to piece one together since Wayne had been filling the parts inventory for so long before MMr. That would have felt really awful when MMr was announced
