POTC_chest.jpg

I have a POTC which is actually leaving my collection. Occasionally the ball will get stuck in the chest when the ball hits the chest under only mild-moderate velocity. It seems the ball gets stuck right at the apex of the turn inside the chest. Is there anything I can do to try adjust this or give the new owner some advice? It doesn't happen very often and commonly results in a tilt to get it out of there.

Thanks for the info.

Hello same issue here, happened twice in one game today, had to really shake it hard to get ball out. The tilt weight is removed so no issue shaking it loose. If anyone has a fix for this let please share!

Bump, anyone seen this before?

Clean the rubber crap from the mix master out of the area the ball rolls along under the chest.

Hello LTG, what is a "Mix Master"? Is this the cooking channel?

So basically, remove the chest, and clean the path underneath it? I know a post comes up when a ball is detected in there to stop it from rolling out. When the ball s shot up into the chest, it seems weird it would get stuck since it should be detected, locked and then kicked out once the chest bonus is played on the DMD.

The Mix Master is the spinning disk on Dr. Dude same thing as Tortuga on PotC.

Hey now, the Tortuga disk is pretty clean, in fact the entire game is pretty minty and clean which is why this is surprising. I was hoping perhaps it was a slight adjustment need to be made under the chest, either way its not going to be fun to get under that toy.

When I put in LEDs next week, I will give that disk a good cleaning and check to see if its anything obvious. Will keep you posted here on my progress or lack of. Thanks!

When I first got my POTC, I thought the same thing. And had balls getting stuck under the chest. And opened it up and cleaned it out.

Easy to check out and well worth it.

I played a potc on location recently. Is the Tortuga disk supposed to have a rubberized top on it? Cause this one certainly didn't. Kicking balls up in there made a metal on metal sound that was honestly kind cool. although I bet it is hell on balls... Made me think of Gears of War chainsaw duels.

The ball gets stuck under the wireframe right?!

You can try to bend (use pliers) the springblade which pushes the wireform down to get rid of some of it's tension. That wire form is only to prevent bounch-outs and has to close the gap right after the ball passes.

I had the same problem, and afterwards it was gone.

Yes it should, once it wears off, it is hard on it and harder on the balls. Does sound cool though.

I found clear stick on no slip stuff for bath tubs, and cut to fit and applied that on my spinning thingy. Lasts a lot longer than what ever was on there originally and less crap comes off.

You should be able to reach that wireform without removing the chest : ) It just behind the chest.

Yes I guess the original version is some kind of rubber... had to replace mine since the soft materials was pretty beaten up. Got a harder plastic sheet version... result is not exact the same, since the balls seem to slip more on/over the harder surface when the disk spins full speed, but all stays within limits of acceptability.

Nice to know they sell no slip stuff for bath tubs with the Tortuga Compass printed on it : )

You did see where I said "clear", so it goes over existing art work if you have any left.

Hey dude, thanks for the tip. Do you have a pic where I should make the adjustment on the wireform?

Ok cool, thanks for the pic. I cleaned it out underneath but the ball got stuck again today.

Perhaps its one of the 4 balls that is a millimeter or so bigger than the others? I am going to adjust the spring up to give it a bit more slack. I have plastics covers that area so I will have to move them.
