LoL. I was thinking the same thing.

I'm a bit disappointed that I can't seem to find any french fries or cigarette butts in that shag carpeting

Here is a rotisserie that is a combination of black pipe with a short Metro Rack. I purchased the Metro Rack single cross members at Container Store and then had a friend weld a piece of angle iron to the black pipe (Thanks Steve!). Adjustable and mobile.

i like the cart idea. is that playfield stitting on it cockeyed though? I also like the bird paper to catch the playfield droppings lol. i know a bunch of us can relate to rotating it to find you may have left some loose parts sitting there...

    #105 8 years ago

Yes, the playfield was sitting that way because I had just finished some final pieces near the back edge. Normally the playfield is on the same side of the angle iron on both sides. In addition to catching loose parts, I put tools on the shelf below...

Work in progress. Just have to work out the attachment of the rotating section to the frame.

Yes, those are ball bearings, because why wouldn't you?

You've got to make a video of you spinning a playfield on that thing!

What's your plan for mounting long playfields like DE?

    #108 7 years ago

The top of the frame has provisions for handling different size playfields. Those top pieces can adjust at least 3" out if needed. The center piece is 54" long, so I've got enough room for now. If it ever turns out to be too short, I'll replace the center piece with a longer one.

Here is my super joke of one. Not the best pics, as I was not trying to photograph the rotisserie at the time. Gots to love my well used cat utility blankets

Very nice. I love me some 80/20 aluminum. That is what I built my racing simulator and pinball camera rig out of.

Lots of great looking rotisseries on here but only one model was within my budget and abilities - The SED6 (modded)

I went out and bought everything they listed and it came together in under 10 minutes but I immediately ran into a problem.

When the 3" bar was fit tightly into the flange, it wasn't long enough to go through the T with room for the end cap. Having it half threaded in the flange to make room for the end cap was just sketchy at best. While testing the rotisserie and turning the playfield, the end cap once fell off. No biggie there, but if were the flange unthreading then it would have been the playfield falling to the floor.

So I took it apart and sunk a little more money into it - Literally.
Turns out, there's just enough room under the flange to fit a quarter and a nickel.
    IMG_5937.JPG
    IMG_5936.JPG
The 30¢ made a solid foundation to take up most of the remaining thread space with five dimes.
    IMG_5939.JPG
Now with the 3" pipe screwed in as tight as possible, there's no way it will unthread by accident and there's plenty of space to fit the end cap.
    IMG_5940.JPG
Now aside from some dodgy saw-horses, I'm ready to rock!
    IMG_5941.JPG
    Thanks Sed6!

    80/20 rules

I'm making a new one using similar material. I'll post pics once it's complete.

Would love to see it. I work for an 80/20 distributor. I was trying to come up with a couple of designs. Its not called "The Industrial Erector Set" for nothing..

    Quoted from vid1900:

    Come to the USA!
You can buy expensive health care.
You can own some bad ass handguns.
Your kids can learn in an education system that is 36th in the world, yet spends the most per pupil.
You can go to jail 12 years for possession of marijuana.
You can watch your wife go to jail for breastfeeding your infant in public.
You can watch Walking Dead the moment it premiers.
You can live 5 hours into the future.
    Do it!

And from those of us that served this country and are actually proud to live here, I will say come on over as long as you are here to be an American.

What if Robin wants to come here to be a Dutchman living in America?

One of the things that made America great was that each culture that came to steal land from the Native Americans brought it's own religions, foods, customs, languages.....whenever you have a word that hard to spell in America, blame the French (like rotisserie) .

Positively overengineered. Only item left is some slightly better workholding.

Love the 80/20. what items did you use on the bottom for the extensions? looks like some kind of custom endcap and a piece of 1515 sliding in the chamber of the 3030?

you're dead on - 1515 going into 3030... endcaps are swivel link afc-7's

Lol, I understand none of this, but suddenly want to know more. Is this the adult version of an Erector Set?

Basically yes. 80/20 is the manufacturer. It is called "The industrial erector set" You can look at their website and get an idea of what can be done with it. 1515 refers to 1.5" x 1.5" and the 3030 is 3"x3". https://8020.net/
The company i work for is a distributor of theirs. I also do some designing of projects for my customers.

Here is mine, very rudimentary yet functional. I got the angle iron as scrap for $5. I had the saw horses, so total cost was less than $40.

Great score (IMO)! Found a Pearl Suspended Concert Bass Drum Stand. It originally has two arch pieces that go in the ends to suspend a 36" bass drum with bungees. Made the play field frame out of aluminum bar and some angled slotted metal. I made no permanent alterations to the stand so it can still be used as a bass drum stand. The stand itself breaks down small enough to store in a corner or under a pin, flat. Super sturdy, and rolls on lockable 3' casters. The stand retails for $650, so (duh) I wouldn't recommend buying one new (I did not get it for $650, but rather much MUCH less). I got this from a friend with a backline company who was clearing out some old stuff. Mostly stoked because I know when I'm done with it if I don't want to keep it, I'm pretty sure I can find another pinhead who'll want it; and if not, I can definitely sell the stand as a bass drum stand still and more than make my money back.
