You know those songs that you hear instantly the moment the rental-car radio turns on?

You know those songs you played air-drums to, 40 years ago while your friends hid their laughter in their beer?

You know the songs that they play on the outro of a football game as it leads into a block of commercials?

You know those songs that every single person in the entire world knows by heart, but you feel compelled to tell every person on earth that it's YOUR favorite song?

This is the thread for that!

I'm going with Hotel California. In the metro Detroit classic rock radio market, I don't think that there's any song that has been played more than that one. But when songs or bands are "overplayed" or "tired", I certainly don't blame the song or band. It will always be an awesome song whether it's the 1,000,000th time I've heard it or 1,000,001st time.

Sweet Home Alabama. Seriously overplayed around here in Edmonton. It is a great Song, just kills it for me when the stations play it at least once a day. Also Bohemian Rhapsody which many would say is the best song ever, is now getting played once a day. The repetition just pisses me off. Makes me almost want to E-Mail the management to tell them to go to Walmart and buy some new CD's.

PS
I know nothing regarding how Radio Stations work. If listening to a few stations a lot, have noticed that late at night the music is played in the same order as a play list from earlier in the day. Just looping the music continuously, maybe?

Vid, your local station has a pretty eclectic mix of classic rock.

Gotta agree. Hotel California is one I still haven't tired of...... Yet.

Far more of the opposite is true. Can't get to the channel change button fast enough for many overplayed songs.

I could probably go the rest of my life without hearing another 20 minute long celebrity jam of Hey Jude.

Twighlight Zone by Golden Earring. Absolutely, without a doubt, the drizzle shits.

Vid, I'm surprised Supertramp isn't in the list. I heard DJs hate playing Supertramp.

Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd

Hard for me to come up with a song I hate more. And they play it like it's some sacred anthem.

I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing #15 in your list: "Fortunate Son" by CCR. But "Down On The Corner" is a different story...
