Quoted from JT-Pinball:

Correct. It's complete and all there. Does not look to be in too bad of shape. If anyone wants it. This guy want it out of his barn...

Is it more than a day’s drive from Dallas?

#16983 3 years ago
Quoted from JT-Pinball:

Is about 20 min outside Lexington, Kentucky.

My wife put it in perspective: for one more hour's drive, we could be in Crested Butte.

#16985 3 years ago

Kentucky is not en route from Dallas to Colorado. Alas!

I’d be glad to give a deserving bingo a good home, but not for a road trip that far.

#16989 3 years ago

I don’t know. I have one early SS, Mystic, and I’ve gotten my EM Heat Wave lit and playing. That's about all I know.

bingopodcast could probably shed some light.

My big concern would be whether the coin chutes work / could be restored. You don’t need a coin chute on a traditional home pinball, but the whole point of bingo is putting in coins to get more balls.

1950 Lucky Inning. The ad says posted a month ago, but I think maybe longer. It’s an hour from me. Wonder about obtaining parts.

#17201 3 years ago

Seller said he'd call me if today's appointment no-shows.

#17204 3 years ago
Quoted from Dono:

Cool looking game; have NEVER seen one in the wild or shows... grab it! Parts? My guess is that it shares parts from quite a few pitch and bats... get this!

I passed. Saw a video. Love the mechanically animated backglass, but it just doesn’t look like a fun game.

I paid $1,200 for Mystic in not great condition last Nov. Probably too much, but I wanted it.

#19234 3 years ago

I meant, what Facebook group was it listed in. Found it.

Too bad. Thought it was local to me, being someone local posted the link. Shoulda realized.

The listing is in a Facebook EM only group. The splash screen for the group is a picture of a solid state game.

You'd need room for five other machines for people to play while they are waiting their turn.

#19904 3 years ago
Quoted from Jets_1479:

Why is everything cheap on one coast line or the other? Meanwhile I’m stuck Texas where half a broken pinball machine is still sky high?

I’ve been wondering the same thing! You folks are finding project machines for $300 and think even that is high. The projects I’ve come across are higher, although I did negotiate a very good deal on a set of three Hi-Hands.

Just bought a Flipper Fair project for $500. It came with new rubbers and a new schematic from Marcos. The playfield is in very good condition- no dings, some art worn off but visible in the usual wear areas. BG has two spots about the size of a quarter, but not super offensive. Seller had started working on it, but needed the room in his space. He also had a Mayfair in very nice condition. Besides needing the usual switch cleaning and adjusting, the only drawback is the painted cabinet. But it works with the art.

Year: October 1986

The ad says it needs a MB. Altek doesn't have them. Who is making Williams early SS boards?

#21113 2 years ago

Woof! I’m sticking with EMs!

I really only mean to fix up games so I can play them. But then another one comes along. And then my wife suggests we make an extra room we have at work into a break room.
The score so far is three that work and three projects.

#21440 2 years ago

Sometimes you get lucky. I scored a very nice condition Happy Clown a few weeks ago for $400. I showed up early while the other pinheads only called to say they’d pay a lowball price if the pin doesn’t sell. And the $400 was only $50 more than the low ballers had offered. But, I was there, friendly and helpful.

#21456 2 years ago

The zip code for the auction is near Houston. Denton is a four hour drive.

#21458 2 years ago

Longest I’ve driven for an acquisition is 3 and a half hrs each way for Mystic and four hours each way for a puppy.

#21459 2 years ago

Someone pls let me know how much Flipper Fair goes for.

Some pretty stellar deals. $1400 each for Fireball and Wizard were both the high water marks. Most things way far down the line. Star Jet for $800 seems like the steal of the day. Hopefully these went to collectors and not flippers.

Oh, my. Must not have been as pretty as mine!

1979 Bally Paragon in Arlington Texas.

Ad is on offer up. $400
Cabinet is nice. One side dirtier and faded than the other, but nice.
Art is coming off the glass in a few places, but could be glued back down.
Electronics look pretty good. A bundle of wires had been cut and repaired with black tape. One fuse probably burned. One loose wire to the transformer cage.

Doesn’t boot up. Displays look clean, but they didn’t light so no telling.

Playfield has a wear divot center of both slingshots, and a small one upper right pf. Plastics are all there and nice. Pop caps only a little toasty.

Many inserts sunk, but look ok.

Only reason I didn’t get it was because fixing the pf is beyond me and the defects are deep enough to affect a slow moving ball. Probably should have grabbed it anyway.

Is that normal wear by the slingshots or does it indicate the mechanism is misaligned or something?

#21760 2 years ago
Quoted from Friengineer:

Yo Daddytudes let us know if you get it!!!!

Someone got it. I’m kinda sorry I didn’t get it. But woodworking is not in my skill set.

#21763 2 years ago

We’ll, now that you mentioned it… his ad was for $400, on Monday night. I responded within 8 minutes of posting. An hour later, he said there’d be a showing on Wed. I complained and offered $500. That got me my visit yesterday.

#21773 2 years ago
Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

This Paragon saga was brutal to read. One guy burned what, 3 pinsiders? All in one fell swoop!

I wasn’t burned, unless you count having to offer $100 more than his ad price to get him to honor the ad and not turn it into an auction. But $400 was low and so was $500 for a Paragon so I wasn’t complaining. It sucked, but at least I got to see it first.

Whoever got it could at least let me come play once it’s fixed up! They wouldn’t have it if I’d have taken it home.

Funny thing about Paragon… I played it back when it had come out and promised myself I’d get one if I ever had room and the money. Then I played one a few summers ago at Balls of Steel and couldn’t do a thing with it. I cannot remember if I promised it to myself because I liked it or so I could finally get good on it.

I’ve left a message on the Capt Fantastic.

#22124 2 years ago
Quoted from Daditude:

I personally know the owners of this estate sale. They will take offers/bids

They haven’t returned my call.

#22130 2 years ago

On the Capt Fantastic, they didn’t return my call and when I got there first thing in the morning it was already sold.

Congrats to the buyer; I’m not real pleased with the estate sale folks.

#22132 2 years ago
Quoted from gdonovan:

Explains the missing picture, someone made them an offer they could not refuse.

If they’d have called me back, I’d have made a decent offer. Maybe it was already sold by the time I called.

#22137 2 years ago

Did not get to see it. It was covered. Did not ask what it sold for.

The house it is in does not matter. Estate sales move stuff from one house to another. The Happy Clown I got a few months back did not come from the house where I bought it.

FWIW, that company was responsive.

Unless you get a machine from hell like my Flipper Fair. It’s always one thing or another.

Quoted from John_in_NC:

With a little knowledge they all are aren’t they? I found the biggest impediment to fixing any machine was fear.

#23205 1 year ago

A one player machine with a playfield that intrigues you and a theme you like. Check here and on ipdb for the machine's rating comments, but keep in mind that you may really like a machine that others don’t. Everyone's tastes are different and some folks post negative reviews before taking the time to really learn a game. One of my favorite machines is one that only gets medium ratings.

Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

ake note all you whiners who say deals only happen in the Northeast!

No, the northeast is generally what gets reported here.

I recently picked up a Gulfstream project in Terrel tx (40 min drive) for $175. Mostly working, too. Good bg, playfield not quite presentable, but nothing that will affect gameplay once I get the inserts leveled.

As long as the bottom doesn’t fall out, I’m good!

No guarantees, for sure.

If you strike a bargain that is a contract. A verbal deal has equal weight in law as a written one.

The question is how much were you damaged by the breach and whether it is worth chasing. What is your harm- a tank of gas and two hours of your time driving?
