Quoted from Pecos:

Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Game/Type: Buckaroo / EM 1 Player
Month/Year: June 1965
Production: 2,600
Cost: $400
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Link/Contact: grandrapids.craigslist.org link
Condition: OP: "The machine is in fair-good working condition. Some signs of its age. Great piece to restore or for collection."

I emailed on this, probably already spoken for though. This is a pretty fair price in decent condition, right?

#1140 8 years ago
Quoted from Pecos:

Welcome polyacanthus! Did you get the Buckaroo?

Thanks, been lurking here for a while.

No, I haven't heard back. I assume it's gone. The market around here is ruthless.

Quoted from Pecos:

Manufacturer: Williams
Game/Type: Space Mission / EM 4 Player
Month/Year: January 1976
Production: 11,652
Cost: $375
Location: Williamsburg VA
Link/Contact: norfolk.craigslist.org link
Condition: OP: "Project machine. Serious buyers please..."

Someone explain to me how that backbox layout goes with that backglass?

#1168 8 years ago
Quoted from comment23:

Not an EM restorer, but he's a pin that could use saving:
https://www.ebth.com/items/3037825-bally-sky-kings-pinball-machine
located in Cincinnati, OH

That's cute, I placed a bid! Thanks for posting.

#1222 8 years ago
Quoted from Colsond3:

Maybe I need to relocate to the Michigan area. Seems to be a ton of pins out there.

You'd be surprised. Lots of buyers too. The market is ruthless. If something's available after an hour it's overpriced.

I actually saw that BTTF but just assumed it was a scam. Too many of those have killed my optimism I guess.

Not sure if this one was posted yet,

Gottlieb Skyjump $350, playfield could use some touch up

detroit.craigslist.org link

#1309 8 years ago
Quoted from Pecos:

Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Game/Type: 2x Sky Jump / EM 1 Player
Month/Year: May 1974
Production: 4,200
Cost: $600 For Both
Location: Omaha, NE
Link/Contact: desmoines.craigslist.org link
Condition: OP: "One is in almost perfect condition with no wear on the playfield or flaking of the back glass. Both look excellent inside. The second machine has a little wear on the playfield and also has some water damage on the head. I am asking 600.00 for the pair and don't really want to separate. These came in a storage unit I bought with other arcade and coin op stuff and I am not really into pinball."

What do you guys think about this? Good enough deal? It's still posted. Might be fun to build a new head for the one and repaint the cabinet. I'll actually be driving to Omaha and back in a couple weeks.

Quoted from Colsond3:

Sounds like a new T-shirt slogan. LOL.

I'd buy that if it was the right size!

#1452 8 years ago
Quoted from RyanClaytor:

C'mon. Who's in for a shirt?

I don't know how these things work but could you include the pinside logo and make a small donation or does that become too expensive?

Quoted from Pecos:

Manufacturer: Williams
Game/Type: Tri Zone / SS 4 Player
Month/Year: July 1979
Production: 7,250
Cost: $375
Location: Rockford / Chicago, IL
Link/Contact: " target="_blank">chicago.craigslist.org link
Condition: OP:
"Pros
- Game boots
- clean boards (no battery leakage)
- no broken plastics
Cons
- PF is nothing special
- boards need to be rebuilt
- player displays were not showing all digits but can check on other machine if they all work and can get you 4 working ones.
- no back glass"
Nice looking used Tri Zone backglass for $175: https://ksarcade.net/tri-zone-backglass-1248.html"

That's what's known as a flip. He paid $291 for it last week.

Quoted from DaWezl:

I already know it's in a miserable location (3rd floor apartment)

If you haven't moved one of these before, they're heavier than they look. I'm not a big guy and personally I don't like to strain myself so I just take the time to disassemble them as much as possible to carry in smaller pieces (when my wife helps me carry them down to the basement).

After removing the head (I remove backglass too and carry separately) I actually remove and carry separately the top glass, playfield, and bottom board. Then the carcass is light enough you can probably just carry it down with two people and no dolly. Plus you're not giving it a jolt on every step with the dolly.

Manufacturer: Bally
Game/Type: Dolly Parton / SS 4 Player
Month/Year: October 1978
Production: 7,350
Cost: $500
Location: Summerville (Charleston), SC
Link/Contact: " target="_blank">charleston.craigslist.org link
Condition: OP: "The machine powers up, but needs some work. Over all it is in good condition, but I'm not familiar with fixing it."

Wow! Wish this was closer! Anyone in SC headed to MI?

#3850 7 years ago
Quoted from rkahr:

Here's one for the thread: I just got an empty Bally EM cabinet from a city dumpster.

Oh bummer, I could use it but I'm nowhere near you. I repainted and cleared a playfield so it looks brand new- which makes the cabinet look crummy even though it's decent, so I hate to repaint it.

Manufacturer: Chicago Coin
Game/Type: Casino / EM 4 Player
Year: June 1972
Production: Unknown
Cost: $45
Location: York, SC
Contact/Link: charlotte.craigslist.org link
Condition: No Backbox! OP: "Don't know much about it. But I don't want it so come make an offer! I'll deliver if you pay."

That's funny, I know someone who also has a Casino sans head. Who's bogarting the heads?

Idunno the rubbers look pretty good...

#4025 7 years ago
Quoted from ForceFlow:

ebay.com link » Stern Trident Pinball Machine Parts Playfield Plastics
This guy is saying he's parting a Stern Trident because the boards aren't working. The cosmetics are nice. Someone save this one!
New Kensington, PA
[edit]: The seller indicated in a PM that he would sell the whole thing for $300. Somebody get on this.

Needs to be re-restored maybe? I'm no expert but that seems like spraycan or brushed on clearcoat over hand painted playfield areas. I wonder if it doesn't look as nice in person. BG looks pretty nicely repaired though.

#4046 7 years ago
Quoted from cottonm4:

The seller and I finally made contact. My offer was way lower than what he was asking and he was receptive. Most of my cost for this beater is the gas to go pick it up. In is in my car now and we will be home tomorrow. The cabinet is very solid. Ugly, but solid.

What is your plan for it? Wax and play?

#4049 7 years ago

Aw man, why can't that be near me. Anyone out east heading to the midwest?

#4091 7 years ago
Quoted from SilverBallKid:

Just curious as I am new to "shopping" for games on CL. Trying to bring in a "new" game before Christmas.
Thanks!

Yes the pin market in Michigan is harsh. If something is still available after a day it's not a great deal. Fair at best. I've been watching for a few years now and have never been able to snag a great deal.

I have a feeling a lot of project pins are being hoarded. You can't take them with you but you can ruin them in storage...

#4118 7 years ago
Quoted from SilverBallKid:

Hey everyone,
I am looking for a little insight here. When an item is sold on Craigslist, is it the responsibility of the seller to remove the listing? Also, is it common to have a difficult time getting a reply out of sellers?
Had one guy ready to sell me a table earlier this week only to have him tell me 24 hours later that he sold it to someone else. Listing is still up and says game is still available. Another person I have contacted now twice using the email address listed on the ad and I am not even getting a response.
Just curious as I am new to "shopping" for games on CL. Trying to bring in a "new" game before Christmas.
Thanks!

I'm the guilty party! Well kind of. I thought it might be me and noticed the ad for the pin I picked up was still active. PM'd SilverBallKid and the pin in question is indeed in my basement. I picked it up the day the ad was posted but the seller didn't mention another confirmed buyer, only another offer lower than his asking price, so I wasn't trying to one-up anybody. Unfortunately the playfield isn't in as good shape as we thought from the pics but I've invited silverballkid to claim dibs if he still wants it. And the seller was a college age kid who described himself as a computer guy so is fully capable of deleting his ad...

Looks like it was listed here earlier but is a Space Odyssey actually:

Quoted from Pecos:

Manufacturer: Williams
Game/Type: Space Mission / EM 4 Player
Month/Year: January 1976
Production: 11,652
Cost: $350
Location: Rosewill (Detroit), MI
Contact/Link: detroit.craigslist.org link
Condition: Badly flaking backglass. OP: "My father bought this and had it running in our house when I was younger. The Pinball Machine currently needs some work to get it running 100 percent back up to date. The Pinball machine has been sitting in my basement for years now on end with no use. I figured there is someone out there who would appreciate a old collectable pinball machine. ...I remember 15 years ago my father had some maintance work done on it for around 75 bucks and it was working perfectly fine. I'm sure who ever is interested in this Pinball machine knows what there looking at"

#4148 7 years ago
Quoted from Pecos:

Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Game/Type: Solar Ride / SS System 1, 4 Player
Month/Year: February 1979
Production: 8,800
Cost: $450 Firm
Location: Dearborn Heights (Detroit), MI
Contact/Link: detroit.craigslist.org link
Condition: "...it is a NON WORKING game. The playfield, backglass, & cabinet are in very good condition, I would say anywhere from a 8 to a 10, cabinet is about an 8 everything is there, all the electronics, no cut wires etc, I am selling it AS IS/NON WORKING I will be moving out of state in the future and I just don't have the time to go through it like I intended to"

I'm not sure what the angle is with this one but the seller doesn't want to sell it if he actually has it. I emailed with him a little and when I said ok just let me know where to go and I can head your way I never heard back.

Hahaha that's hilarious. I appreciate your effort stringing together all those quotes!

I didn't know these were in demand. There were a couple around here last year at the same time actually. They were fairly rough though, in the $300 range iirc.

Harlem Globetrotters about 10 minutes away.
I have no idea how to do anything yet other than basic diode tests, etc., but I'm willing to learn!
How reasonable or far off is this sale?

I'd offer $300 and pick it up, but I'm comfortable with electronic and playfield repair. If you're interested in learning it's worth it in my book. If your intent is to flip it for profit then probably not.

They make money by selling stuff so it's in their interest to know markets like antiques, pins, collectibles, whatever, and they should have specialists on hand to price things. So I'd say if you get a good deal it's a fluke.

Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

I think it’s possibly the worst pin ever made.
Big Top, any of the Sears home model games, and even Street Fighter II are metric tonnes of fun compared to the paltry featherweight El Toro

I disagree. Not saying it's the best pin ever but if you want to actually play the game instead of just bouncing the ball around, those two layers of rollover lanes will definitely hone your nudging skills. Some people just get confused on what to do on an EM if there are no drop targets...

Quoted from bluespin:

If people stop buying over priced em projects, then the prices will come down. I know an em collector that buys a lot of em projects, refurbishes them and resells them. He said that for the last several months that he can’t sell anything at $1,000 or higher and that’s fully working pins.

Where's the fun in a fully working pin? We're all here looking for something to fix up, right?

Was 15 minutes late on this one

Hopefully they were honest and gave them an amount much closer to it's value. I assume that didn't happen.
