Quoted from bluespin:In the last four months I have found six project pins in different parts of the country that I was interested in buying. I posted on each occasion asking if a Pinsider in that region would be willing to pick up the pin and drop it at a Fastenal store. No one was willing to help me. This week a Pinsider posted a pin for sale in this forum. I asked if he was willing to drop the pin at a local Fastenal store after I sent Paypal funds. I provided a link to a Fastenal store locator. He responded that three local collectors were interested so he was just going to sell it to one of them.
I would say about 1 out of 10 people are willing to ship with Fastenal. I offer the seller a little more money for finding a pallet (usually available at Fastenal) packing and strapping. I say in some ways it is better, and easier than all that travel time, and expense.
Pros: 1. You have a for sure sale. 2. You don't have to sit at home waiting for someone to show up buyer or shipper (uselessly at their convenience and a day off work). Most Fastenals are on the way to work or some other event. 3. You can pack and ship it out at your convenience. 4. Fastenal makes the whole deal super easy. 5. The cost is half or more than any others. 6. Fast shipping, 5 days across the country (almost as fast as a letter with the USPS). 7. Two shipments now and not a scratch, with no wooden box enclosure either. 8. Don't have to have strangers show up at your home (could be a big deal for some) No more 1:00am had a flat tire, got lost, did not realize you were so far, stories.
con: 1. Hard to find people willing to use Fastenal. Most people don't even want to touch the game let alone pack, find a pallet, strap and drop off. 2. Can't inspect the game. Ask for lots of good pics. 3. Sale is final, stuck with the deal after shipping.
My advice: Don't fully pay for the game until Fastenal confirms it is at their drop off site, ready to ship out.
