Quoted from TimeWarp1:

Good catch, going to see it tomorrow. That traffic is going to be hell but hopefully it will be worth it. Got some pics and it has some usual insert wear but it's just above the '1' bonus insert and not completely blown out like a lot of them. Think I'll need another person to help move/load this thing?

Glass looks decent. Usually this title has major peel on the bottom.

cheddar I checked the two companies that make reproduction Gottlieb backglasses (homestead and Shay) and they don’t make this glass. Quoted from bluespin:

In the last four months I have found six project pins in different parts of the country that I was interested in buying. I posted on each occasion asking if a Pinsider in that region would be willing to pick up the pin and drop it at a Fastenal store. No one was willing to help me. This week a Pinsider posted a pin for sale in this forum. I asked if he was willing to drop the pin at a local Fastenal store after I sent Paypal funds. I provided a link to a Fastenal store locator. He responded that three local collectors were interested so he was just going to sell it to one of them.
I have posted 300+ project pins in this forum, but no one is willing to help me? I won’t be posting in this thread going forward.

When you tire of that game, can I have the right of first refusal? (Actually serious! Ha-ha!)

Dibs are the 3rd tenant of pinball
1. Playing pinball
2. Fixing/restoring pinball
3. Getting dibs on someone else's pinball

Sometimes 1&2 switch places

#7309 6 years ago
Quoted from Pecos:

Thanks Cheddar. And thanks for the Project Pins you have posted here. Did you get that Vector working?

Yeah it was bizarre. I had to replace the outhole kicker assembly with a matching one out of a fathom. But fathom doesn't use the solenoid expander and the coil only had 1 diode. To make it worse the coil only had 2 lugs. I was able to wire it correctly to prevent the voltage from flowing from the outhole to the drop target bank and dropping the first target.

One of the weirder issues I've come across.

I played Magic in a league. It was set up well and is a good game. For the same money you can buy a Meteor or a Stars and they are better games than Magic. The only people looking to buy this are looking for a shell to make a Quicksilver, Star Gazer or Seawitch. You’d spend more money restoring this to a Lectronamo than its worth.

Would a meteor cab work. I have one without boards I've been thinking of writing new rules for

I'll post my good story from this weekend. I get a message from a pinball friend who is relaying a guy who is selling a Williams Apollo and wants 1500 for it. Apparently he has a swords of fury, Williams fan-tas-tic and Gottlieb Pro-Football as well as is open to an offer for the lot. He's also less than a mile from my house.

I go by and look at them. Apollo and fantastic are set up and playable. Pro-Football is in 2 pieces. Swords of fury had some hacked but otherwise clean boards and I won't even turn it on.

Made him an offer and he took it. Sold Apollo to the guy who turned me on to the deal, fantastic to a friend and listed Pro-Football and sold it this morning. To make it even better I setup Pro-Football to make sure it was complete and it actually played and just needs a tune up and new rubbers.

Spent some time playing with it and got the SoF board to boot. All in all a great pickup.

Quoted from FatPanda:

In regards to the "Stern price increase pushing me out of the hobby" thread, I feel glad and thankful that this thread exists and that I'm knowledgeable/inclined/motivated/confident enough to buy and enjoy project games. I think people that are chasing NIB games exclusively are missing out on 90% of the rest of what this hobby has to offer. There's nothing more satisfying than buying a dead game, bringing it back to life and enjoying the hell out of it, for a fraction of the cost of a NIB. I understand that some people just want the new thing, or that they don't have the motivation to work on project games but I'm glad I don't need the newest and that I can see value where others see trash.
Maybe it's because I'm only a handful of years into the hobby and haven't gotten jaded with "what's already been done." but for me, half of the fun is working on the games, while the other half is seeing and enjoying the result.
Just another thanks to everyone that keeps this thread alive and going.

For me half of the fun with pinball is fixing the machines! Repairing dead machines and making them play is super rewarding. Ongoing maintenance can be a drag but that comes with new machines too.

Original board actually boots up but the main power transformer has a bad connection somewhere in the primary windings from what I noticed...This is a PROJECT that I dont have time for so just passing it on!
