Is it getting harder to find Projects?
I keep hearing people say that its getting harder and harder to find project pins... but is it really?

Seems like most of the shitty pins are overseas...and there's a nice business where people are reimporting them and selling them at fair prices while still turning a nice profit.

Here's the question, though: If a reimport is rewired for the US and completely restored top to bottom, is it still considered a reimport?

#163 8 years ago

But why does it matter? If you've converted it back to US voltage, and the whole machine--boards, cabinet, PF, EVERYTHING--has been restored or replaced, then it's not even really the same machine it was overseas, is it? I wouldn't even really feel an obligation to call it a reimport at that point if I sold it. For all intents and purposes, it's a brand new machine. Who cares where it came from?

#168 8 years ago

I get the full disclosure. But at that point, when fully restored, what does it matter? I'm not sure I'd even care if I was buying one that had been completely redone. Why is a reimport looked at in such a negative light? Am I missing something?

Welcome DaWezl! Thanks for posting the Mattel Las Vegas. That would make a nice Christmas gift for someone!
Congrats on getting your first pinball machine. Beware! They have a habit of multiplying when you least expect it!

Where's MY welcome? I've been lurking in this thread for weeks. It's a great one...keep up the good work!

Oh, sorry...never saw that. Carry on.

If Pecos's screen name was WaywardSon, this exchange would be epic!

I actually got that, which makes me officially old.

Pinball Coffee table anyone? Was a Joker Poker at one point.
OP: This is a Coffee Table made out of a salvaged Joker Poker Pinball Machine. This is NOT a working pinball machine. Lights work and Coin Door had a new lock so you can put your remotes or valuables locked away inside. Top Glass has small 2x3'' corner broken off. Very Heavy. Would be great for game room , kids room, arcade, etc

Whenever I see that I get pissed off. At least it was the SS version and not the EM. But still...

My favorite is, "The only issues are a couple bad light sockets on the sword in the middle and one of the gates are missing but does not impact play."

Then he goes on for another paragraph about how the cabinet sucks and the playfield is sanded down to wood. Nope...no issues there.
