Quoted from cottonm4:

That did not take long. The for sale ad is no more.

Yeah, I saw the ad and called 5 minutes after it went up. Got there within an hour and seller realized he priced it too low since he had quite a few calls by the time I arrived.

Has a few issues I am fixing and then I plan to re-sell or will trade for a nice Capersville.

Quoted from cottonm4:

Too bad the guy is trying to auction this pin with the "make an offer" routine.
The guy is selling a Bally Skyrocket. Only 545 of Skyrocket produced. I would say it is a rare pin. I swore off of EMs but I"m tempted to contact him and say "put a price on".
littlerock.craigslist.org link

Just placed an offer. It would be a 20 hour round trip. We'll see if the price is right

#5497 6 years ago
Quoted from bluespin:

cottonm4 Great minds think alike. I tossed a LOW offer out a few hours ago. The seller mentioned that someone else put in a higher offer.
ballypin You should be receiving an accceptance offer from the seller soon.

I did get a reply from the seller. He says he has a local guy that has me bettered by 200 but I asked for better pics. Don't like the thought of a constant raise if I meet the current offer. Not like I can wizz over there and slap some cash and load up.

#5551 6 years ago

It is a Williams Flash, not Bally Flash Gordon.

#5617 6 years ago

Too late. Bus has left the station. I just called and talked to Todd. Someone from CT just picked it up this morning.
Glad it was not on my radar but after looking at the pics and IPDB, I called and was going to buy it.

Wonder how cheap a ticket on Greyhound would have been rather than making a 17 hour round trip to pick up?

I have not looked at it but from the pictures, it is missing all the displays. Another local has seen it and they passed so there are probably more issues with the boards.

I am local and called Rich and am waiting for a call back. Hard to see if there are any Bally EM’s (my only interest) but will invest the time to take a look if seller calls back. Conversely, if someone does snag this I would interested in there is anything Bally.

All plastics are great , only a small crack in one. Machine Powers up, lights up, coins up, there are a lot of signs of life but this machine needs some attention. Flippers work, some rollovers work, some don't. Contacts need a good cleaning. Nothing is obviously burnt up. Everything is there for a full restore. This will be beautiful when completed, I just don't have the space or the time to get it done. Make me an offer, I need it gone ASAP."

Why never in Ohio ?? It is on the way to Boston...and then I would need a good divorce lawyer.

Evel was ahead of the times. By 1977 he had already flamed out and it would be another 3 years before Kmiec put the ramp and tube shot on Xenon.
$ 1,500 for EK's personal machine seems like a steal of a deal.

#7135 6 years ago

Bluespin- I will do my part here in the Cincinnati / NKY to keep you posting here. I follow this thread daily and appreciate your search service. If you find something and need someone to pick it up, I'd be happy to do it free of charge and pay forward the favor.

Merry Christmas Pecos ! I am honored to be able to help in a small way with your backglass gift. Thanks again for what seems to be a tireless search to give these games a chance to live again.

Thanks also to Ryan for making this all happen. I enjoyed reading his travel journey from MI to MA to pickup his grail Bally Hay Ride so much that I decided a similar trip would be cool. So, when I read a pinside ad in Boston for a Bally Dogies that was posted in this thread, my brain went into overdrive. I was able to secure the game plus another game to make the 2,000 mile trip interesting. The 2 day trip kicks off next week and I plan to document the journey here.

#7283 6 years ago

Yeah, for us in the mid-west on that EK in CA, I can’t help but say “Come out to the coast, we’ll get together, have a few laughs”

#7298 6 years ago
Quoted from RyanClaytor:

Okay, three things:
1) PLEASE let us know (or at the very least PM me) about your documentation thread. I'd love to follow along.
2) Welcome to the crazy club.
3) When you tire of that game, can I have the right of first refusal? (Actually serious! Ha-ha!)

I will start on Tuesday to give the backstory to what will be my longest trip ever in the quest for the silverball. My goal is to share the trip in an entertaining way.

Been in this crazy club of buying machines for over 29 years. It is in my blood.

You can have first dibs but wait til you see this Dogies first... it has an extra special brown cabinet paint job. I am praying that paint will come off so I can trace new stencils. If not, I know of another nearby Pinsider who will let me trace his game.

#7313 6 years ago

VERY tempting...I will be in your neck of the woods next week and this would go well with the other space themed game I am picking up but there will be no room in the truck.

#7314 6 years ago
Quoted from Pecos:

Ballypin, I don't find as many Bally Project Pins as I would like. They are becoming harder to find. Thank you, Darrin, for helping make this backglass a new part of Pecos' Palatial Pinball Parlour. What Bally pins, in particular, are you looking for?
Congrats on picking up the Dogies! That is such an awesome looking game and it has Zipper Flippers! I'm looking forward to reading about your adventure to return this to your gameroom. I lived for quite a while in Forestville, just east of Cincinnati. So I envy your ability to eat a La Rosa's pizza or a Skyline 3-Way!

Pecos, I am a Bowling Green, Ohio transplant to the Cinci area for over 30 years now and had never heard of Forestville...surprised to discover that it was Anderson Twp. Bought my second game from Blaine back in 1990 in that same area. Not sure if you guys ever met. Yeah, Skyline is my favorite too (hated it at first and so much better than Gold Star) along with many flavors at Graeters and their Tea Cookies. Can't forget about ribs from Montgomery Inn. The ribs and cornbread at Burbanks (previously Flo and Eddies) were great too.

My main focus these days is Bally from '63 to '78 and I would especially like to find a decent Gold Rush next (or as my wife would say, NEXT year). Next year is only a week away so bring it on!

The second game I am getting on this up coming trip is another Bally zipper that also needs some backglass love. It would be great if the posters in this thread can help me find a suitable replacement. Watch next week for my travel adventure "Zipping over to Boston"

That sucks. Hopefully the seller gets stuck with counterfeit cash. At least you were not already on the road when he pulled that stunt.

#7435 6 years ago

It is definitely a Budweiser logo style on the bottle so it’s probably someone’s attempt at a retheme, or a Budweiser sticker laid down to cover insert wear.

#7447 6 years ago
Quoted from dasvis:

Dammit, missed local a '74 Bally Amigo project for $150 OBO by about 1/2 hour. Backglass & playfield looked ok from Craigslist photo.
This one does not get much love, but I like the 1970's Bally pins....
Yeah, I'm a low end pin man.

I'm with you on Amigo. I spotted one on CL last month and was able to get it for $180. Perfect BG, decent cab but playfield has some planking. Had to do a stealth pickup to not jepordize the recent Boston road trip. Missed on 1 before that and passed on 3 others that were overpriced. Stick with it...another will come along.

#7450 6 years ago
Quoted from RyanClaytor:

Also loved this one...

LOLz!!! How do you stealth a 200lb box of plywood into your house? ...just sayin', this information could potentially come in handy for a number of us.
Who needs Rockin' Eve when you have this thread? Lookin' forward to more in 2018!

I said it before...it's all about timing...and having an accomplice
CL ad pops up on Monday. Ask for pics and agree to buy Monday night. Wife teaches class on Tues night and gets home by 8:15. Worked my schedule backwards to leave work early, race an hour north to pickup, head back to grab takeout dinner and get home by 8:00 with just enough time to get it moved to basement where she will never notice it amongst all the others. Paid my son $ 20 to keep the secret. This was a week AFTER buying the 2 games in Boston but BEFORE disclosing to the wife.

Selling my Rockmakers Pinball Machine. This is fully working and I have owned it for 4 years now. I have had it completely gone through and it is solid as Bally's are once you do a round of preventative maintenance on them. I got a new backglass in there so that looks great. Cabinet was painted over. Playfield is good. Low plays. This is not a reimported model, like the few other Rockmakers you might encounter. See pictures.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
This one looks interesting. It is another Bally zipper flipper pin.

I would definitely jump on this if it were closer. The playfield and upper flipper are interesting enough to make up for, IMO, a pretty fugly backglass. At least VFW has one to play.

Good ‘ol Pinrescue. I was tracking a Bally Gold Rush in TN and the owner “arrived”’ at a sale price of 3,500 because one sold on Pinrescue for that amount. Hasn’t sold yet. Price is down to 2,700 though. I really thought I wanted one til I played it at VFW, now not so much. Of course, if one pops up local for a few hundred, I will be all in.

Contact the seller and tell him that you want this, and that if they will let you pick it up tomorrow at a set time that you can send them a PayPal friends and family payment NOW. That’s how I bought my $100 Stern Nugent.

Wasn’t looking for this but I was picking up another non-pinball item from this seller anyway and I nearly fell over when he said what he wanted for a VERY nice but non-working Banzai Run. Won the pinball lottery for the day for sure.

OP: 3 pinball machines. Each have their quirks but they can be fixed fairly cheap and one of these in complete working order would be worth more than what I'm asking for all 3.
Machine 1 - Flip Flop. This machine is in great condition. All of the lights and bumpers work as well as the scoring but the flippers and ball return just stopped working randomly. I was told it's probably just a fuse. Last one I can find that sold went for $2,750.
Machine 2- Card Whiz. This machine is also in excellent condition. All of the lights work as well as the scoring system. This machine has a bumper that is stuck and continuously adds score. I was told that this should just be a relay which is a cheap fix also. Last one I can find that sold went for $1,000
Machine 3-Nip It. This is the same themed machine that the Fonz played on Happy Days. This machines body is a little rough but the table and top are in great shape. Some of the lights have went out on the top but all of them work on the table. It is a 4 player machine but it's issue is it only reads 1 player. Last one I can find that sold went for $3,700.
I would love to keep and fix them but I am running out of room so they have to go. Whether you are looking to add a few to your personal collection or fix and sell them this is a great deal. My loss is definitely your gain on this one. Asking $1,500 for all 3 or best offer. Would rather sell them as a trio but will sell individually. Less

These are marked sold. I did not purchase but was considering them.

Thanks for the kind words pecos . I didn't realize that gopers had such large thumbs...and so many of them... I called the seller to negotiate a price, and I am interested in buying this pin. NAVL is gone for the weekend so I can't verify that they go out to this area until Monday.
If someone would really like to show me some love, go pick up that pin for me tomorrow and either:
A) Store it in your garage a couple of days and then drop at a Fastenal store, place on a pallet they provide, shrink the game, and strap it to the pallet. I would pay for the shrink, straps, gas money and something extra for your time (preferred).
B) Store it in your garage a couple of days and then I'll arrange for NAVL/Beltman to pick up (more expensive).
IF you can go there tomorrow please let me know ASAP and I will call the seller back so they can hold it for me.
Thanks!

Congrats on your Cosmos score !! The BG looks in amazing shape. I found mine in Boston last year and made a 2 day driving adventure (ala RyanClaytor ) to pick it up. I need to hit up Steve at BGResto and get a new BG for mine. That apron in lime green is similar to other Bally titles so finding a replacement may not be so difficult.

If you have not seen this Cosmos game review, check it out:

Checklist for flipping a pinball machine:

1. Buy dirt cheap. CHECK
2. Fix as little as possible. CHECK
3. Reset score reels to all zeroes so that machine "appears" to be different. CHECK
4. Jack price up 100%. CHECK
5. Change title of listing with WRONG year to disguise the flip. CHECK
6. Wait more than 1 day before flipping. FAIL
7. Don't list game on same selling site. FAIL
8. Hope to hell that seller deletes original ad. FAIL

1940 Stoner "Fantasy" Pre-Flipper for $ 350 in Cincinnati

#20475 2 years ago
Quoted from vec-tor:

Does anyone know what the 6-7/8 means on the playfield?

Good question. I can't find any 1930's slang references to the "6-7/8".

It could be a hat size reference but that doesn't make any sense.

Being "this close" to lucky number 7 ?

I'm stumped.

#20480 2 years ago

6 7/8 is obviously a put down or a disparaging way to say someone or something is “just short” of normal or complete but not sure how it would fit the context of its use on “Fantasy”.

Need some more “older” timers than me to chime in because Google is not much help with this.

“Jeepers Creepers” is the Porky Pig cartoon. Search for the unedited ending version.
