Why?
Quoted from Ace24:Bally The Six Million Dollar Man $250
If this ad is legit, then I'M the Six Million Dollar Man.
Quoted from gdonovan:Its been for sale for several months now on and off, maybe longer than a year.
FYI the seller states "takes standard pinball glass" this is false due to the swing up glass frame. Its actually shorter and uses the Bally mid-60's short PF glass captured in the frame.
Also the lockdown mech looks to be missing, pivot bolt not visible in pictures.
Perhaps the seller means it's sort of a "Ranson of Red Chief" thing. He'll give YOU $150 if you take the machine.
Quoted from bluespin:Jatretsville, md
That's Jarrettsville, MD 21084, but thanks for the plug.
I had a backglass made for an '84 about a year ago by BGResto. It was beautiful. Took six months to get it, but it was worth it.
Quoted from jrcmlc:Sorry if I missed it, but what did you provide them, was it pictures of existing unit or did you have to have it scanned or?
They had already made one in the past, so he just cranked off another one.
Quoted from bluespin:That’s what a Bgresto is, he just applies it to a piece of glass before shipping to you.
The graphics are applied to the glass in a high heat vacuum oven. I have purchased two BGResto glasses, one for the '84 EBD, and the other for my Thunder Man. They both look terrific. These glasses are not quite as translucent as a regular BG or translite, so you should install LEDs in the backbox GI circuit.
Quoted from John_in_NC:I have one or I’d be on my way to MD now…
.
Quoted from stashyboy:Yup, clean and nice. If local, would be in my car too.
OK, just left the guy's house, I live 25 minutes away, and I passed on it. I'd like to get some opinions from you two guys and any others.
It will not start a game, because the solenoids have no power. I didn't check as to why. The playfield has a planking, no wax, so one is going to have to be very careful in cleaning the playfield. The cab and head appear to have been painted white in some areas at one time with most of it being removed. The plastics are all good condition, and most bulbs and lamps appear original. Rubbers should be replaced. The wood is solid, doesn't stink, legs, lockdown bar and coin door are nice, doesn't appear to have any wiring hacks or missing components. Includes original schematic on back door.
If you want this machine for your collection, and you can perform minor fixes to EMs, buy it. But if you're like me, someone who likes to buy a machine, repair it, fix it up cosmetically and sell it for a profit, pass.
I would be happy to hear your opinions.
Thanks,
Alan
