*Someone suggested a price of $200

I visited the seller and bought the speakeasy.

He still has a williams OXO machine (working), an incredibly rare 1950 bally turf king, williams casanova, gottleib Mayfair, and gottleib grand slam. He is looking to sell individually or give an incredible bulk price.

This auction is less than 5 minutes from my work. I put a max bid of 100 bucks (there is also an auction buyers premium of 18%). I lost out to someone that bid 120. It needed a lot of work, which is why I figured that into my bid.

Im probably better off. I already have a project pin, and this one needed some SERIOUS help.

Shit, I might as well just rent a U-Haul, come out there and take everything in the wine cellar too.
Or if the house is available, just leave everything in there and looks like I’m moving to Kansas.

Be careful...they don't like eagles fans there

#11475 5 years ago
Quoted from Colsond3:

Easy there fellas. They might not like my teams, but they will certainly like this game I’m in the middle of restoring.
[quoted image]

Are you selling any games or projects?

#11480 5 years ago
Quoted from Colsond3:

Should be listing a few in the next couple days.

Could you pm me?

#11485 5 years ago
Quoted from Dallas_Pin:

Not sure if it helps your cause, but I am 90% sure I will be around KC, Kansas on Sunday to pick up 2 unlisted pins. I can pick up others and bring back to Dallas for shipping if interested. I would have to rent something though (probably a closedtrailer- cheaper), as I can only get 2 pins in my truck. I could prep for STI for your delivery. Help with Uhaul trailer fees and some $ for effort..

I contacted the estate sale on price info for those pins and they never got back to me. If they were a decent price, i would be in on it. If that earthshaker is reasonable, please let me know. I can send you the money for it.

I have a project pin for sale here on pinside classifieds. It is for a Bally speakeasy machine. I am located in the dfw area.

#11504 5 years ago
Quoted from bluespin:

I see your ad is a wtb for a backglass. I don’t see a project pin for sale

It is under another listing. Here is the info:

Bally Speakeasy - 400
Project. I am in the middle of restoring it. I have 2 sets of plastics, brand new rubbers and pinballs, custom apron cards and originals, manual and schematics, 2 sets of card flyaways, extra rom chip, brand new bulbs with extras as well, full brand new plunger mechanism, and brand new playfield glass, and extra lane plastics and fuses. Apron is included, just not pictured. I have gone through and cleaned and waxed it.
No backglass.

You should learn how to work on them. They are amazing. If I can do it anyone can. Capersville looks fun. With 4 Million BC I just can't get past the look of it. It's ugly and dull looking to me. I passed on a nice Bally Joust about a year ago and regret it now.

Where is the capersville? I would like to have that one

I’ll call this game a pin of opportunity. Not one I was looking for but was leaving a job I’ve been on for the last couple weeks and passing right by where it was so I figured I’d take a look and guess followed me home.

How does it look?

#11563 5 years ago

I have a 1966 Bally Six Sticks EM pinball machine project. It was the first production 6 player pinball and it is exceedingly RARE. It is a very nice Hockey themed pinball.

Playfield appears to be in nice condition, the BG is pretty good too. The cabinet needs some love.

Pm me if interested.

SHUFFLE BOWLER
1962 United Lancer Shuffle Bowler
$250 Now $200
Irving, TX
Seller: Shawn Christian / Pinsider dallas_pin
I picked up this shuffle bowler in Oklahoma a few years ago but never got around to getting it setup and playable. The seller said it had been working until about a year before I bought it when a few relay actuator plates cracked. It is missing one of the plastic score reels but has the mechanism. My current game room plan does not have a spot for this and I need to free up storage space so I can get rid of more units so this must go. Currently asking less than what I have into the game. It is very heavy and moves as two large pieces. I can deliver with my truck and liftgate within the DFW metroplex for $100 extra. Game currently located in storage in Carrollton, TX.

I happen to know Shawn is a solid guy to deal with. He also has a ton of other pins he is going to sell.

Oh hell, you know you want it.
It is an online auction. If you win the bid, Google Earth says you only have a 444 mile one way trip. One night in a motel. Or if you are really adventurous, you could leave early in the morning and could be there in 7 hours. Then load up and head home. Of course, this time of year the weather could stick it to you.
I looked at your collection. You need this Fathom

That one has been listed a long time. Doesn't seem like such a bad deal but I know nothing about the title. It's been listed about as long as the $3k Pharoah.

If it is a good working game, 750 is good. 3k is double what pharoah should cost, however.

OP: I have a Bally wiggler project machine that also comes with another lower cabinet and populated Playfield and a brand-new Repro backglass....... the pictures included in this listing are of the other Wiggler that I just had Keith restore so you can see how beautiful this game can be.......... these are not pictures of the project machine
Me: Only three Pinsiders own this machine

Super solid guy with a great price on an incredibly rare machine.

#11932 5 years ago
Quoted from cottonm4:

So, Keith Holbrook has been elevated to first name only status. He is good. And his wait times keep getting longer. But I had not thought of prospect that he would achieve the status that we could say, "Keith restored my play field." and everybody would "know" who Keith is.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Can you imagine stopping at a car lot because your dream car just showed up on the front line, only to have the sales rep tell you this "fine automobile is not for sale. It is just a teaser. The one we are really selling is that beat up POS over in the back corner".

I think that is called bait-and-switch.

You can play Bobby's "holbrook" restoration wiggler at TPF. Im sure you could pick up the project wiggler there as well...and tell him about your bait and switch theory.

Etc

I reached out to him very quickly, but i suppose someone could have beat me to it.

Quoted from Pecos:

'Red Flags.'
I don't look at Craiglist for pinballs anymore. I don't have the money or the room for more pins. But for some reason I checked the Tucson Craigslist last night and found a game on my wishlist, Flash, in Tempe, that I have been wanting for years. It was a Project Pin but priced right, too right, at only $300.
Red Flag - Yellow Flag #1: Priced well below market value. I should change this to 'Yellow Flag' because I have found some amazing under-priced Project Pins here in Arizona.
The ad had been up for eight hours already so I was expecting it to be sold already. But I replied to the ad by email and to another ad that he had for a Silverball Mania.
I received two emails in the morning saying 'I do' which was rather bizarre since I wasn't asking if he still had the machines. I was offering to buy them.
Red Flag #2: Email answered with what seemed like a canned reply, as if he hadn't even read my email.
One of the ads had a phone number so I called him up and told him that I was looking for a Flash. I told him that I was driving from Tucson and would he hold them for me? I offered $100 more than he was asking for the two machines. He told me that he couldn't do that and that he had someone there wanting them/it. I told him that I had to go to my Credit Union to get the money.
Red Flag #3: Telling me that he had someone there but the games were still available?
I offered to put $100 in his Paypal account if he would hold them for me. I wasn't about to drive almost two hours to Phoenix to find that he had sold the game(s) to someone else. I have learned that this promise is important!! He told me he didn't want that!
Red Flag #4: Why wasn't he willing to work with me? I was offering more than he asked? I was offering a down payment, sight unseen.
Red Flag #5: I got the feeling that he wanted several people to show up so he could have a 'Flash Auction', pun intended.
I then asked for his address and he told me that he would text it to me after I had the money in my hand. Huh?
Red Flag #6: What kind of games were this seller playing? Why wouldn't he give me his address? Why did I have to waste the time to drive to my Credit Union?
I went to my Credit Union. I really wanted Flash. It is one of the games in the great early Williams solid state games trilogy. I already own Firepower and Black Knight.
I called J**** again and told him I was at my Credit Union. He told me that someone was coming to look at Flash which seemed to contradict his earlier statement that he had a possible buyer already there. I told him that I wasn't coming up to Tempe until he accepted or declined my offer. He told me that it was probably better that I not come then.
Apparently this was a 'cash in hand' seller. Or was he looking for more money? He has the right to accept or not the offers that come his way. But what was with all the games? I did not take money out of my Credit Union and I did not make the hot drive to Tempe. I have no hard feelings, sometimes Craigslist sales go like this and I am certain that I made the right choice by passing on this rather strange Craigslist Project Pin opportunity.

It is quite possible that he has been burned in the past too, and he didn't want tire kickers.
He may have had several interested parties (most likely), so he may have had someone there at the time and then someone coming to check something else out later. Idk.

I try to be as clear and concise when selling ir buying on CL...unfortunately...a lot of people aren't as clear.

OP: 1966 Williams 8 Ball, needs work. Plastics are warped and will need to be straightened or replaced. Lights up and plays, score reels seem to work ok. A few switches don’t register currently. Backglass is in decent shape, playfield is ok with some areas of wear but not bad for a 1966 machine. Prior owner stripped the cabinet and stained it, could be left as is or primed and painted.
Good start to a project and a machine you don’t see very often!

OP:
Got in 5 pins on Monday. Working when stored, all have been sitting for in excess of 5 years. All of the pinballs have been operated in the past and in the expected condition. If taking low prices from Pinside and Boston pinball Ebay averages, and deducting $2500.00 more, that is the price I have put in the box. Low Pinside prices combined for the 5 is $11,000.00, These are what they are, and have been heavily operated(hence the $2500.00 below the low Pinside pricing)and then sat since 2011. Playboy and Space Shuttle will need playfield overlays or restoration, and Space Shuttle will need backglass. All games power up and play, and I only saw 1 segment of 1 of the Space Shuttle's displays not working. Once again, the price for all 5 as a group is derived from starting with the LOW price from average on each title and deducting even more to factor in the condition and potential travel and loading considerations for the buyer.
Playboy - Bally 1978
Space Shuttle - Williams 1984
Terminator 2 - Williams 1992
Harley Davidson - Stern 1999
Revenge From Mars - Bally 1999
This is a great deal for considering 1 brand new LE model pin is going for more than the price of 5 good older titles here. Do not fool yourself, all will need attention in some form or another, but this is a great opportunity to get started in the hobby or expand your current collection.

Quoted from cottonm4:

I have some questions:
Of all of these project pins that have been moving around the country, how many have been put back together and are now up and running?
How many have just changed hands and are sitting folded up in a different corner in a different house? Rephrasing the question: How many of these project pins are in pinball purgatory and just living in different houses as they get passed around from basement to basement or garage to garage.
How many will we see ads for that say," I'm selling this pin. I have too many projects right now."
I have a pin folded up in a corner of my house. It will be at least 2 years before I can get to it. And I could decide sell it as a project in the meantime.
I'm not knocking this thread. I'm just curious of how large pinball purgatory might be.

No one can truly answer these questions, but I think you would be surprised at how many pins are brought back...or at least improved upon before changing hands.

I know a lot of pinheads that repair machines and even more that try to fix up whatever they can while a pin is in their possession.

It seems that the ones that sit the longest are those owned by non-pinball fans (e.g.pins passed down by family or those wasting away in a warehouse).
I think the ones that sit for extended times that are in pinballers hands are the "broken down" machines that just need a lot of time and repair. I have seen a few of these recently.

#12998 4 years ago
Quoted from bluespin:

A collector that I know in Texas told me that there are three collectors in his state with very large collections of pins. They’ve been buying and hoarding pins for years and very rarely sell anything.

Quoted from dc2010:

I probably know at least one of them lol, but yeah, lost contact with a friend , who last I spoke to him had about 150 pins, more than half were projects, his job allowed him to travel in a company truck with unlimited fuel...

I know 2 of the 3...and i "know of" the third.

I don't understand this type of thinking. I either play my pins, work on them so they can be played, or sell them. Hoarding is not in my nature. I get disturbed if one sits too long unplayable.

#13000 4 years ago
Quoted from kermit24:

Me either. If I have a pin that’s not working I’ll fix it and play it. Maybe sell it, but I won’t let it sit in the corner for years.
I bought 5 projects in a lot last year. These games were really rough and needed a lot of love. I got them all working and sold 3 of them. Two remain and are a blast to play.

What did you keep?

#13016 4 years ago
Quoted from JethroP:

WALKED AWAY from a project for the first time. What a disappointment. Guy has a collection of 400+ pins (Paicines Ranch) about 1-1/2 hours drive south of San Jose. He listed on Craigslist Mata Hari project. I called and we discussed. He described the cabinet having just some "flaking paint" on one side. The play field and backglass he said were "good." So I made the hour plus drive (3 hours round trip). Flaking paint and good backglass my ass.
The side of the cabinet didn't just have flaking paint...it was missing like a section at least 12" x 12" on one side. The cabinet was delaminating and missing the bottom supports. The backglass was toast. It looked like 30% of it was covered with touch up paint. Very sloppy.
I was expecting a project, but definitely not as described. Beware if you ever go there to buy something. Not as described.

Were you able to look at any other pins
?

#13018 4 years ago
Quoted from JethroP:

Yeah, walked through some of the collection before I looked at the Mata Hari. It is a very impressive collection indeed.

I gotta ask...did you make an offer on anything else...or a lower offer on mata hari?

#13027 4 years ago
Quoted from Matesamo:

Hoarding has always been a strange thing to me, I had three older EMs in storage to bring to Pintastic and I felt crappy that these machines weren't being enjoyed. I was happy to see them go to new homes during the show, having dozens of machines in storage doesn't impress me in the least.

Completely agree

Post it, for sure

#13097 4 years ago
Quoted from pinball_ric:

Thanks for posting this. I ended up snagging it. Backglass is mint and cabinet has like 2 dings. Playfield is dirty but looks like it should clean up. I think there's typical ball swirls but there isn't a game that doesn't have those from the era.
It's currently not working. After it's shopped and fixed I'm definitely open for trades on other rare games. In particular a Zaccaria Robot. If anyone has that or something else interesting and wants a really nice Voltan.

Quoted from nascarrey:

Youre welcome! Nice pick up-glad you were able to get it!
When are you driving that smoker to Chicago for me??

Quoted from cottonm4:

I got beat out of a Farfalla up here a few weeks ago. Did you have any competition for buying the Voltan?

I was very close to going out there for it, but I decided not to. I am in the Dallas area, so it would've been 3 hours each way.

I tried to reach the estate sale company about the price multiple times with ZERO success.
It's hard to spend that much time and effort going in blind on price. They might want 100 bucks, they may want 10,000 bucks. My experience with estate sales (which is vast) says that they usually ask way too much. The game is certainly rare, but not as much fun as a lot of others from the era...so that played into it as well. Still...I would love to know what it went for.

Quoted from vec-tor:

Long story short... Back in the days of cheap pinballs...
A Game Plan Sharp Shooter came in... It was a mess... Got all the parts to fix the game...
New flipper parts... Coils...new plastic set, Etc, etc, etc. Got the game
all bright and shiny... With supper strong flippers... I did some redesigns of the hardware.
I just got it done and ready for the show room floor, when a panicked "D.A." comes in.
I NEED FLIPPERS NOW!!!!! He looked at the game I had just finished,
(mind you, I have spent several weeks to complete). PERFECT!
Wire cutters ... chop , chop ,chop... unscrew, unscrew,unscrew...
He was gone.
The sad Sharp Shooter sat in the back of the shop for several months, no flippers, nobody
wanted a jacked up game with no flippers... so in the dumpster it went.
All that work for nothing. It just broke me.

Yikes!! So much going on there!

Are you going to try to get that project?

Maybe 3 years ago. These days a project High Speed is closer to a $1200 machine on a good day and maybe more depending on how bad owner wants to sell one and how bad buyer wants it. The days of any System 11 under $1000 are pretty much long gone. You might find a Road Kings for under $1000 in rough shape but I think that would be the only System 11 that still can be found under $1000

Quoted from rkahr:

Better eyes than me - way to go guys!

I'm almost with you. It's ~90 minutes from me and I've got nothing pressing to do today (except a couple daughterboard shipments and maybe make some more). But, to what end - to clean parts and sell to others? to hold "in case" I need them in future projects? for a stack of spares for my collection? Maybe it's just for the pride of salvaging something from what looks like nothing.
-Rob
-visit http://www.kahr.us to get my daughterboard that helps fix WPC pinball resets or my replacement LED displays for model H & model S Skee Ball

It would make one heck of a restoration/refurbish thread...which would, in turn, draw more attention to your daughterboards for sale.

A win/win, I would say.

I have a buddy near me (Dallas, TX area) selling a gottlieb victory, gottlieb raven, and allied leisure star shooter for 800 total.

I have another acquaintance who has a centaur II, stern trident, and bally mata hari for 2500 total.

If anyone is interested, send me a pm and i will get their info to you.

#13263 4 years ago
Quoted from PinballHelp:

I have a working Sharpshooter II game with a pretty heavily worn playfield - the game boots and plays but the playfield has seen better days. Any idea what it would be worth? I'm looking to unload it to make room.

Can you pm me pics?

Quoted from bluespin:

I’d be interested in the Split Second if anyone wants to buy this group of games

Quoted from shimoda:

I was going to say I'd be interested in the Split Second and the Jungle Princess

Quoted from bluespin:

This (Split Second) is not the pin that you seek...move (it) along...sell it to me...

Ha! Split second is the one i would be interested in too!

bluespin and me seem to have very similar tastes.

#13286 4 years ago
Quoted from HHaase:

Surprised there wasn't more discussion on this one. If I had the funding right now I'd be all over that first package.
Heck, it they end up going north, I'd be interested in the Raven for some disturbing reason.
-Hans

Quoted from play_pinball:

I am genuinely surprised that Centaur II / Trident / MH deal is still available. Trident is wildly underrated as a player. I've had mine for about 20 years with no intentions of ever selling it. I'd be all over it if I wasn't out of room.
The Gottlieb deal is a good one but I'm scared off by the water damage to the particle board cabs. And the fact I'm VERY out of room.

Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

I would love a Victory or a Trident but Texas is so far away it’s not really worth it

Update:

My one friend sold the cocktail pin, so he us offering victory and raven for 750 total. He us motivated, so there may be wiggle room there.

The trident and mata hari have sold, leaving only centaur II. He is thinking of keeping it, so if anyone is thinking about making a move for it...I would suggest doing it quickly.

A guy on my Facebook pinball page just posted an awesome classic stern 9 ball pin.

I usually don't post much from my FB page (I assume a lot of you are members already), but I like to share some of the nice ones.

I'm glad you made a deal on it.

#13296 4 years ago
Quoted from bluespin:

If the seller is really motivated he’ll be willing to deliver both games to a Fastenal store, place on their backs on the pallet, shrink the game and strap them to the pallets with two cheap straps from home improvement stores. It’s a lot to ask the seller.
He was selling Raven, Victory and the cocktail pin for $800. Now he wants $750 for Raven and Victory. There was a cocktail pin of the same title sell for $200 this week, probably the same one. I think you guys can get both pins for $600. Fastenal will probably cost you each $200-225 as their rates recently went up. Downside is that the shipments won’t be insured.

I know that he is motivated, so im sure he will work with y'all

I just want to be clear...these are my friends games. I have no part in owning, selling, or shipping them...but having said that...i will ask him for you.
I have no idea about supply chain regulations, but i would definitely recommend calling fastenal and getting a quote/find out.

I will pm you with what he says.

I hope someone on here got the raven and victory. He said they are sold and shipping to New York.

He does still have a maverick and earthshaker for sale/trade.

Big Red cola??? Love it-of course we don't have it up here....
And I love the BBQ- is Miller's a chain? Up here most chain BBQ is garbage.....

There is so much competition for barbecue down here that even our worst barbecue joints are better than the best in most other states

#13374 4 years ago

I have a chance to get project pins on the east coast. My thought was to make one out of them. The seller wont ship or separate them, however, which is why im having some trouble getting them (I live in Texas, near Dallas).

There is an extra playfield that I would at least like to have. I was thinking about buying the lot from him, and someone could ship me the playfield and keep the rest to build or sell.

Is anyone interested in that? Pm me if you are.

Quoted from dc2010:

bluespin : If you hadn't posted the estate notice , I wouldn't have known about it
This machine was owned by it's second owners since 1990, and has been folded up in climate control for 15 yrs, it's serial number is 8005 out 12001 so it spent nearly all it's life in a private collection, the cab is vibrant, there isn't and grime or dirt other than dust ANYWHERE!
Playfield, wiring, coils, and boards look brand new , I have never seen a pin bot this nice
Also I successfully negotiated the seller down 35% 15mins into the first day, I got it for 650!
As I was leaving, the seller stopped my car, asked for my cell for future finds
So this Gem wouldn't have been possible without what you do thank you!

This is exactly the spirit of this thread! That is awesome!

John has led many to pins and I always strive to post and fo the same (although, I will admit one will come up every now and again that I REALLY wish I could get...eh-hem "robo-war" eh-hem)

Congratulations on a great pin that was BETTER than expected
...that so rarely happens.

#13398 4 years ago
Quoted from too-many-pins:

That was kind of my idea. It can be a "slippery slope" but I still think it is worth the risk in most cases.
My main advice to anyone in any hobby is to set limits. For example if you are limited on space and need to rent storage limit yourself to one unit. Once that unit is full sell some before you buy more. When it comes to the money end of things never spend more than you have extra once bills are paid. Etc! Everyone's limits will be different but set those limits right up front.
As far as "my limits" - I never keep more project machines around then what will fit in one side of our garage. I also look at our "stash" of project machines several times a year to make sure we are not hanging on to stuff that we no longer want to add to the collection. Then I sell off excess projects & parts at Allentown & York Shows just trying to keep things somewhat rational.
Renting storage is the result of me being involved with selling pinball parts and all the space having a selection of parts machines requires. At times I regret getting involved in the "parts business" (mostly because of the cost of storage) but I love helping people so I quickly realize in the end it is all worth it.

Limits are definitely a good idea. It is easy to get carried away in any hobby. Drawing a "line in the sand" is a necessity...especially with your time, money, and space.

Quoted from NicoVolta:

You dorks! :p
You know... I don’t even get notified when I get tagged. Hadn’t read this thread in over three months and, well, serendipity hath struck.
El Toro isn’t the worst pin ever made. It looks cool and is faster than most Gottliebs. But endless bagatelle is pretty boring when it comes down to it. Could be cool with a little tweakin’s. Maybe I’ll do a custom El Toro Diablo someday...
Living in Texas requires an inexplicable fondness for Bucee’s, quick reflexes for swatting Asian tiger mosquitoes, and a strong aversion to using turn signals.
It ain’t all bad. I do miss my local pinball pals and the food is really damn good. But for the most part I’m digging life in the Old Dominion.
Oh, and I’ll have some EM’s to raffle soon. Fully rebuilt by yours truly. A new fundraising vehicle for the museum!

Make sure to pm me about the raffles. Im interested.

Also, what games will be up for raffle?

What? I was beginning to think you were the Will Rogers of pinball machines. That you never saw a pin you didn’t like

Quoted from dc2010:

I am one of those guys that can appreciate ANY pinball game. If I went to a "free to play" arcade and they had big ben or raven...I would likely play them. I just dont care for them versus others pins of their respective eras.

EMs overall are my least favorites, but games like capersville, centigrade 37, the wiggler, joker poker, subway, and a couple more...I would absolutely buy if given the chance.

Quoted from bluespin:

daditude I called and the only potential deals (since they are $700+) are:
EM
Sky Jump $700 Cabinet Painted Black
Jacks Open $900 Nice condition
SS
Eight Ball $700 Backglass has flaking
Globe Trotters ??? I forgot to ask about this one
I'd be interested in the first two pins listed above, but that's nine hours one way for me. All of the other pins are ems and start at $700, and all of the ones in the pictures are in really rough shape. Even if they are pristine, would you really pay $700 for any of these:
Royal Guard
Mibs
El Toro (Paging ___)
300
Top Ten
Jolly Roger
Baseball (Williams)
Buccaneer (ok I would pay $700 if it was pristine)
Magnotron
Football (Gottlieb)
Bally-ho
Honey
Suspense (two available)
Wild Card
Super Star
Casanova
Pioneer
Speedway (Chicago coin arcade driver game) Two available

He told ne 600 for harlem globetrotters

He also has a jokers wild...but im not sure which one. One is EXTREMELY rare.

He is also an old timer that doesnt like texting, taking pics, or messing around. I have a feeling that cash talks with him and could get a discount.

#13458 4 years ago

Oh...I should also mention that he would likely do a bulk discount if bought in multiples.

Quoted from bluespin:

#13503 4 years ago
Quoted from play_pinball:

Look closer at The Shadow's head and CBW's rails by the buttons. I'd be surprised if these were HUO. Shadow's playfield looks pretty dirty too.
That said, HUO is a subjective term. You can still have thousands of plays on these sitting in that house for 25 years and if no one is cleaning them, they'll get just as beat up as a "routed" pin. All those terms are pretty silly if you ask me. Condition is king whether it sat at a bar and got wiped down/cleaned every week or in a house for 25 years without the glass ever being taken off, ya know?

Quoted from newovad:

All their stuff looks brand new. Even their 90's board games and VHS tapes look pretty good. Candyland has seen better days...

I have new sheets of glass for the framed armor Bally games, so I could include a sheet for another $50. Cheaper than anywhere else. Looking to move it quick to make space. If not, it might have to go into storage.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Valley old Chicago and Magnotron

OP: These are two vintage pinball machines. Both work. The Magnatron is from the 1950s. The "hole value" kicker in the middle works 80% of the time, but may need to be replaced for efficiency. Quoted from bluespin:

Wow! I’m really tempted to buy this but I’ll warn anyone considering buying this:
1. The cabinets of this generation were silk screened. Jeff at pinball pimp won’t make stencils as the silk screened cabinets were too detailed to make a stencil.
2. Steve Young doesn’t have the artwork for this title. I already have a water damaged cabinet and I already inquired. That means that no one can easily make a cabinet decal for this game.
3. These cabinets were made with mdf, compressed sawdust, so any moisture causes them to swell on the edges. You can sand off the swelling, apply fiberglass and paint over the fiberglass.

I PMed him, and he said he will ship...but I will pass this time around. You should definitely go for it.

#13568 4 years ago

Bob Cunningham is having a closeout in Florida. For those if you that don't know him, he is one of the biggest solo shippers in the USA and he has a MAJOR collection of pins and arcades (likely one of the biggest in America).

If you live nearby ir have ANY chance of going whatsover, you need to do it.

Quoted from JohnH69:

This maybe a good deal if someone wants to take a ride up Maine:
*Please read all of the description
This is a Marilyn Monroe version of the Taxi Pinball machine. Everything looks to be there(complete). It has been in storage for years. There is minimal wear on the playfield. And the colors and outside box look pretty good. The ramps are not broken and seem to be in good shape. The topper is not screwed down, but is also in good shape. There are no coin mechs in it. I have not plugged it in or have checked anything. It has had a mouse in it at some point or maybe more than one. They have since moved out. I have vacuumed it out and that is all that I have done. This version(Marilyn Monroe) is a lot rarer than the Lola version and is sought after. However, Im not even sure what needs to be replaced or adjusted at all(if it does at all). I am looking to sell it as it for 1000. Please look at all the pics that I have posted. I am located in Pittston and will be around all day today. Please dont hesitate to ask me any questions you may have. Oh yeah, it also doesnt come with any legs...
Thanks

Quoted from Murphdom:

Manufacturer: Williams
Game/Type: # Olympic Hockey / EM 2 player
Mo/Year: January 1972
Production: 2,555
Location: Lansing, KS
https://www.estatesales.net/KS/Lansing/66043/2325897

If anyone is nearby this sale and you could pick it up for me, this is the EM I have been looking for.

Quoted from Murphdom:

daditude I contacted the estate sale company. They are asking $400 for it. Someone help him out!

I reached out to them as well. I don't feel it is worth that...probably more like 200, but that's why we negotiate, right?

Here's the pic they sent me:

Quoted from joelbob:

I'm happy to report that I was the person who bought that Shadow. It was listed at $2800 which is what I paid. In was definitely routed and overall the playfield was dirty but in great shape. Very little sanctum wear. Two broken mechs that I should be able to fix for pretty cheap. The cue ball wizard I passed on for $1200.

Nice pick up!!

#13622 4 years ago
Quoted from steviechs:

200 would be a good pickup, but 400 isn't really that off base for a working 70's Williams game. Olympic Hockey is fun as a 2 player seeing who can score more goals.

Quoted from dothedoo:

Especially if it’s a game you’ve been looking for.

Quoted from Murphdom:

If it’s a game that you have been wanting for a while and plan on keeping then $400 isn’t that bad. It would probably cost about another $300 to ship it so it’s all about how badly you want it.

Quoted from ForceFlow:

Is there a crack in the backglass, or is that just a reflection?

It is not working, and the guy from the estate sale says it has issues, which is usually far more than they admit. It is best to assume "worst case scenario" on these.

#13647 4 years ago

I will absolutely "math out" road trips. I am ok with 3-4 hours each way, but after that I really start to question it. It has to be a phenomenal deal, super rare, or something I desperately want.

Quoted from John_in_NC:

Not my style but nobody is forcing anyone to buy/sell. It's a matter of perspective. What's the difference between this and any stock or commodity? This is still America last I checked. The "flipper" is still taking a risk and having to manage the transaction. More power to him/her I say.

Quoted from dothedoo:

Yeah but no doubt the flipper tried to talk the seller down on price before he immediately turned around and listed it for 3x.

Quoted from too-many-pins:

People will also try to talk the "flipper" down from his asking price. I don't agree with doing shit like this but as long as there are people with some time and money to do it things will never change. There are "flippers" in every hobby and that is just the facts of life.
Everyone is looking to make a buck and you can't fault people for that. When you go to work you expect to get paid! A 'flippers" work is buying & flipping stuff and they want to get paid for that effort also. On the other had buying something on a site then listing it for 3 times as much on the same site a day later just shows no class. At least wait a week or two and list it on a different venue!
Hopefully anyone who realizes what happened will just pass him by and he will have his money tied up for a while. Then he might think twice about doing it again but typically those guys always seem to make out somehow?

I always thought this sentiment was amusing. People act like it is bad to re-sell a pinball. Essentially everything you have ever bought in your life has been "flipped."

What's the criteria? They sold it too quick? They made too much profit? They didn't fix it up enough???
People do these things everyday to every product we have all ever purchased. What do you think Walmart and Amazon do??? Heck... eBay made a fortune on other people doing it for them!!

Quoted from Matesamo:

I'm dig reselling items and all that but I am someone who hates to see any pinball machine tucked away and not in use. I don't even store extras machines I have, I just hate to see a machine not get played. When people descended on Toys R Us when everything was 75-90% off the following summer most of the yard sales in my area had a table of those items which was fine, buying and selling items which are abundant or mass produced is cool. Pinball machines have a finite number and, honestly, buying that machine that is in rough shape and needs a ton of work and charging a price that you would sell a fully working copy of it for just means it is going to sit for a long time. I would 100% rather it went to someone who would bring it back to life and put it back into the world to be enjoyed.
Anyways, BACK TO THE PROJECT MACHINE LISTINGS!

I have a friend who has dozens and dozens of pinballs just folded up and wrapped. They haven't been played in many years. These are all highly sought after pins, by the way.

I have asked him for years to sell me a few or just let me help him sell them, but he won't budge. It is a genuine TREASURE TROVE. If I ever get him to clear it, it will be a miraculous day for this forum!

Have to arrange transportation for it, tho. How about you bring it to me and grab some of those playfields

It is sold already. Did one of you guys get it?

#14066 4 years ago
Quoted from chaosrooster:

Thanks figured it was one of the "easier" Sterns to hunt down considering production run. Cabinet and back glass very good for their age. PF had wear near upper flipper area and some insert wear. Game was dirty as hell, dried up rubbers, bunch of lights out hopefully not control lamps, and couple burnt coils. Should clean up nice gonna work on it over winter. Got it for $650.

That's a score!
I've owned 2, and I am currently cleaning up a meteor playfield to hang on my game room wall.
