Quoted from Pecos:

Welcome times two Ryan and thanks. I've played 'Travel Time', in a laundromat of all places! It takes a lot to get used to "beating the clock" instead of playing with a fixed number of balls. It is just so contrary to everything I've ever learned about how to beat a pinball machine. There are times when it is best to let the ball drain.
I didn't really like it much at the time, but this is a game that I could warm up to if I played it long enough to learn all of the tricks. It certainly is novel.

Growing up My dad had a Travel Time in our basement (which unfortunately got destroyed, but thats another story). It's what I learned to play (and love) pinball on. It's a lot of fun, and a fast game for the time. I certainly think it would be a fun project if I ever came across one....

Quoted from bluespin:

Manufacturer: Bally
Game/Type: Playboy / SS
Month/Year: December 1978
Production: 18,250
Cost: $450
Location: Gainesville, FL
Contact/Link: atlanta.craigslist.org link
OP: Up for sale is an original playboy pin ball by Bally. The game doesn’t work but is complete minus the legs. The cabinet has had termite damage at some point of its life. The worst areas are the backbox trim and where the backbox connects to the main cabinet. I’m asking $450 or best offer. You can reach me at show contact info
with any questions.

My wife got me this for Xmas. It’s.... Rough. She was so proud she found me something. I love deeply she indulged my request for a project pin and surprised me with this for Christmas, but the termites scare the crap out of me. The back box is cork it’s so shot. I immediately shrinkwrapped it and bug bombed it several times. Bug bombed my garage as well. Haven’t even popped the coin door yet so haven’t got a great look at it yet to see what’s recoverable here. Probably going to Termedor it as well just to be sure. I’d burn it, other than now shes done this, I’m going to have to make a working Playboy now (somehow) but I think the first thing I’m going to need to do is find a donor cabinet. She picked it up with a friend and checked that it powered on, so guessing boards are good. It’s not hacked up at least from what I can tell.

Thank god most of this stuff is available repo... I’m going to need it. If anyone has a suitable donor cabinet, let me know!

Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

I had my meteor thread about the blackout and meteor I bought from Florida with termite damage. They were not active, turns out that the termite damage seemed to attract carpenter ants though. Never seen that happen before.
Leave the game for a couple weeks. If you don’t see any evidence of termites by then, you’re safe. If you wanna be really sure just bust a hole in the weakest part and see if anything living falls out. If that doesn’t knock anything out of it then it’s definitely safe.
That’s awesome it powers on! Building a new cabinet and head is a big project but very manageable.

Thanks for the heads up! I wrapped it in shrink wrap, and have sprayed in termador foaming spray. The body may be recoverable, though i'm not terribly comfortable still with the notion of having something ex-termites. Regardless, the head is borked. I have a while before i get to really restoring this - I need to get my game room up first - but if i don't find a donor before I get to it I may try to use the cabinet at least.

Wow, keep that wife ! I mean THAT is what I call going the extra mile, no matter what state it arrived in.

No doubt! She is super duper special, especially since this is busy season for her at work, AND she co-opted some of her co-workers to help her get it!
