Quoted from RyanClaytor:

Time to start making friends with road trips.

Friends schmends. I live smack dab in the middle of the country. All of the Hokus Pokus machines that have come up have been on one coast or the other. I'd have to be in bed with road trips to go after one of those.

Quoted from RyanClaytor:

Game/Type: Cross-Line/EM Flipperless

Had to do a double take with that beautiful environmental artwork around the red bumpers. That layout looks really challenging.

The beauty of these diagonal layouts is that you can complete one side of the sequence in one ball (if you're good at nudging!).

That opens up the other four balls for specials.

This game has two separate sequences and the ability to sequentially spot numbers (a big help!). Looks really fun and in great shape (except for that ball trapped behind the bumper in the upper left).

OP: Game was apart when I picked it up and the owner passed away so his wife doesn’t know if it worked. Assume that it does NOT. (I never put it together, I have no interest)

Game is solid and appears to be complete down to the coin chutes and cash box. Cabinet is fair, playfield has some wear, and the backglass is bad, see pictures. It would be a great project game for someone to learn about early, bally, digital pinball as I’m selling it with no reserve and the books and schematics are included.

Wow. I've never even heard of this game before, but it looks really cool. Score drums on the PF, what I thought were outlanes appear to be kicker lanes that kick the ball toward the targets in front of the score drums, plus, if I'm seeing this correctly, I think both backglass and playfield are printed with metallic gold ink:

williams-1960s-mardi-gras-pinball-arcade_1_4d61f1b3706d606971bdb8d53e2aecb2 (resized).jpgwilliams-1960s-mardi-gras-pinball-arcade_1_4d61f1b3706d606971bdb8d53e2aecb2 (resized).jpg

vampire mardigras 006 (resized).jpgvampire mardigras 006 (resized).jpg

Neither of these images are from the seller (whose photographs aren't doing him any favors) and took a little digging to uncover (even IPDB images aren't very good), but man, this game has now been added to my wishlist. Thanks for the listing, Captive, and good luck to whoever wins that auction! Wish I were in a position to snag this.

Some ok pins, a bunch of EM shooters, a couple vidiot games, and some puck bowlers - seller is looking for a very generous buyer to take it all. Emphasis there on very generous. Like retail and then some generous. For what look like projects.

Quoted from Matesamo:

Dirty? You don't say?

True, it's unfortunate that it was stored without playfield glass, but I'll bet a lot of that would clean up. Plus, if the backglass is any indication as to the condition of the machine:

whiz (resized).jpgwhiz (resized).jpg

...it's got some real potential. If it hasn't been gutted, this should be worth $150 easy. (For the right...motivated...customer.)

FULL DISCLOSURE: I adjusted the color levels on the seller's picture just to get a little better look at that backglass. Taking the picture in a room with the lights turned off wasn't much help. ...but, man, once you can actually see it? That glass looks like it's in AH-MAZE-ING condition(!!!).

Actually, a lot of times dirt helps "seal" the playfield up a bit more from the elements and whatnot if it's like actual dirt from lack for use with glass off and not like ball dirt from constant use. I've heard stories of people bringing home machines with playfield absolutely COVERED in dust and dirt (like literally, as the glass was off as stated, so you could barely see any art or text) and wiping it off with whatever they used and it was a perfect example underneath.

He said they played it for years and then put it into storage in a warehouse where it just got covered with time. Looking forward to picking it up on Friday.

That Whiz Kids is really neat looking - I've never seen one before, but have heard the name previously. Looks like two different scores tallied simultaneously, along with cool captive ball kickers through the left and right plastics.

(The plastics show a guy shooting a hoop - nice touch!)

Looks like a fun game - completing the sequence 1-5 lights special at the top rollover. (1-5 are the passive bumpers). Going through each rollover (top, left, and right) lights extra special at the saucer.

So - looks like two sequences and points allow you to win - but you can probably win on home or visitor points for a fourth way to win.

Neat game!

#3500 7 years ago

Sure, I will make a thread and document the whole thing. At that price it should be a fun learning experience. Does anyone know if this type of machine takes standard glass?
