Quoted from ForceFlow:

The plan was to trim the tape to release the misaligned pieces, flue them down, then spray with triple thick. It hasn't been a priority, and since it would be a time consuming project, I haven't gotten to it yet.

I've masked off the window with cardboard weighted down, masking tape, and sprayed directly over. Each approach has its downsides.
With masking, you will see the edge of they triple thick.
With tape, there is the risk of removing paint when you remove the tape, which has happened to me.
Spraying directly over the window takes some extra care and prep work. The area needs to be cleaned of all contaminants, then finally cleaned with sprayway so that there are no streaks. Then spray it on really thick. It may be milky white at first, so don't be alarmed. It clears up slowly as it cures, and in 24 hours it will be perfectly clear and smooth. If there are any imperfections, novus 2 will address it.
Now, if the translucent paint is flaking, the only thing you can do is carefully scrape it all off, seal it, then either usend a score display cover or use a score window filter or tint set like this:
http://www.actionpinball.com/parts.php?item=PDG377

If you use painters tape to mask it and paint over it you shouldn't pull up any paint. I've done a bunch of glasses this way with no issues. Painters tape is also pretty easy to cut to size to fit the window of whatever you're masking.

Painters tape has pulled up paint from a couple backglasses I've worked on. It's fine for interior walls, but not always kind to fragile 30-40 year old backglass paint. More often than not, it has worked ok, but I'd rather not risk it if I don't have to.

~~~~~Mr. Pinball Classifieds~~~~~
Manufacturer: Bally
Game/Type: Playboy / SS 4 Player
Month/Year: December 1978
Production: 18,250
Cost: $900
Location: Wisconsin
OP: Project game. Still working on the unit. Powers up and displays light. Goes into self test as well as the audio board. Missing one solenoid. Does not coin up. Missing head mounting collar. Thought I would put this out there before I finish for a discounted price. Just don't have the time to finish, I need the room. Backglass in good condition as is the playfield. This is a fun game for that person wanting to complete. Need to sell.
~~~~~Mr. Pinball Classifieds~~~~~
Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Game/Type: Grand Slam / EM 1 Player
Month/Year: August 1972
Production: 3,600
Cost: $350
Location: District Heights, Maryland, 10 MINUTES TO DC

OP: Working pin but needs minor relay cleaning/adjustments. Backglass 9. Playfield 7, only 2 small wear marks, otherwise, great. Mechanical: got as non-working project, got it to play, but the hold relay has to be jumpered: scores will reset, playfield works, scores register chimes work except one. Motor is solid and fast. Just needs relay clean/adjusts and ball count unit cleaned. Do not have any more time to devote to it, other projects pending. And too many late night at work. No tire kickers please or offers other than asking price. Invest some time into cleaning and adjusting, you then have a nice wedgehead worth more than 350

Flying Chariots is close. Big ol' drains with pop bumpers to blast the ball down the sides... just in case. Oh, and a center shot straight up and right back down again between the flippers. :/

Just tell them you only accept cash and you'll never hear from them again.

That's what I did. "Cash only, sorry" then "Cash in person only, sorry" when he persisted asking me to "understand his situation".

Thanks again for the advice, guys.

Now that's really putting in the effort to impress your buyer, ick. I think it's funny how the really old pins with ladies on the backglass showing skin, when they start flaking it adds the real age to them. Grannies in bikinis.

Nope, it was listed for $500 initially but he dropped it and the Flying Circus to $250 each. I'm checking it out tonight!
Thanks for pointing out the price reduction!

Bought for 200 and confirmed that a pin somehow fits into a Chevy Sonic.

#3266 7 years ago
Quoted from Captive_Ball:

I finally popped my project machine cherry this weekend.

Congratulations Captive_Ball! I'm glad to see you finally personally benefit from all of the time and hard work you have put into this thread. Now we just need to find you a nice EM project pin. Something like a Williams OXO would do nicely! Lots of relays in that one to test your project fixing skills and test your patience at the same time.
Enjoy working on the Meteor project!

Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Game/Type: Fashion Show / EM 2 Player

Cost: Starting Bid: $550 (No current bids) OR Buy It Now: $749
Location: Easton, Maryland
Link/Contact: ebay.com link: 1962 Gottliebs 2 Palyer Fashion Show Pinball Machine

OP: Note- the machine is NOT in perfect working condition as "bonus wheel" in the center of the play field completely recycles when turning the machine on. Also the "Free Play" wheel does not turn.

The coin mechanism does work. The machine was working perfectly up until a few months ago. For someone who knows these machines I am very sure it is a simple fix.
The back glass is in good condition.
This machine is sure to rise in value when the film "Jackie" is released next year.

I'm sure it's easy, just drop in a pascal board and replace all the edge connector pins, easy peasy..

It's another if it was only 2500 miles closer... Would love to have a complete system 1 collection someday.. when I win the lottery.. and have room.. aw shucks, I'll guess I'll just stick with the 2 I have.

Most can actually be had fairly inexpensively. There's a few, such as Hulk, Genie, and Asteroid Annie, which tend to cost more than the rest. With only 16 titles and most being fairly common, I'd say you would have a pretty good chance for reaching your goal.

And there is a cracked pop bumper cap and lots of playfield wear. Definitely a 'players condition' pin. Maybe that's why it's been on the market for a month.

It might be a good retheme project though!
