What are the other two games on either side of Rack a Ball? (see 2nd pic on right down below). One looks like a 60's GTB and the other looks like a Bally.

Month/Year: August 1968

Cost: $400
Location: Covington (New Orleans), LA
Link/Contact: neworleans.craigslist.org link

OP: Awesome theme for South Louisiana. Played until I moved it to a different room about 2 months ago. Powers on but that's about it. Prior to the move there were just 2 issues with this machine. The back glass was broken so I got creative and made a decent copy using a stock photo of the original. Also, the "zipper flipper" function, which I'm told is rare, did not work. The flippers worked like regular pinball flippers though. All new rubber installed in last 6 months.

OP: Play field is in good condition, needs a transformer changed (replacement included) a power supply, and rubber bumpers. Has all glass and screen print on display in good condition. The display is not installed it's held on by 4 bolts i took off to be able to move the machine to where it is now. Should not take much to get going.

I want that Gator. That might be the best Jerry Kelly art. The way the composition informs the shots on the playfield is amazing.

Well, don't tell us. Call the guy and buy it. By Google Earth, it is only 1,159 miles from Cleveland to New Orleans. You would get to drive thru some pretty country. Interstate all the way

Production for zipper flipper games

Capersville: 5,120

Nip it 4,580

Fireball 3,815

4 Million B.C. 3,550

Gator 2,120

Can't be too many of those around.

#2734 3 years ago

The backglass was broken on the Gator and he scanned the artwork and made a photo. So figure on sourcing another backglass. I don't see this game come up for sale too often.

#2735 3 years ago

Played Gator at Arcade Expo. It may be from that cool late 60's Bally period... but I thought the gameplay was just OK. Basically no long shots or flow to it, just smashing mushroom bumpers for the most part. Which is fairly common for that era. About the same fun factor as Rocket III... maybe a bit better.

Cosmos is more desirable, IMHO. On a different level with the "round the world shot" and spaceship rollovers.

Condition: OP: "This machine is in extremely nice condition and works. The playfield is clean and only shows minor wear. The machine plays as-is but there are a couple of issues that would need attention to get the game back to factory specs. The "bonus" features that light up on the playfield are somehow wired backward so that when lit they don't award the bonus, but when dark, they do...??? Secondly, the back box features small rubber balls that pop up and roll across a track (see photo), this doesn't work correctly. I temporarily have it jumpered to a bonus kick out hole that makes it work when the kick out is activated by the players ball. The back glass is in pretty good condition with a few small areas where it has wore away... it's not flaking, possibly due to bulb heat over many years. There is an area where back glass paint was somehow scrubbed off, possibly by the rubber balls that roll under the track that sits above that area (see photo of area near girl bowlers legs). Overall, this is a very nice looking machine that works! I don't keep secrets from buyers... I honestly want them to know what I know about the machine!"
