Quoted from Spider3582:

Why do people say don't know if it works haven't plugged it in but it looks all there or this and that is not working its a easy fix. If it's a easy fix than fix it or take a second and plug it in .

I've had sellers tell me that they're afraid to plug in old electrical plugs because they might get shocked, the surge of power might damage the game, or the machine could spontaneously burst into flames. They'd rather you take that chance once it's sold and out of their home.

I haven't had a game explode yet, but maybe I'm just lucky.

Beats me. I should have taken a Psychology class because people do the strangest things! Maybe some of these emoticons are appropriate:

Firepower II in Milwaukee for $200. Looks nice for that price.

Did anyone end up grabbing this?

#2658 7 years ago

What a coincidence Top Moose right after I posted that comet I turned on a Caption Kid rifle game I picked up Thursday still with the old no ground power cord and it shocked the shit out of me

#2659 7 years ago
Quoted from Friengineer:

Did anyone end of grabbing this?

Curious too ... Sent them a text that Saturday morning, but never heard back. (wasn't too disappointed... haven't finished the last two machines I grabbed)

Quoted from TopMoose:

I haven't had a game explode yet, but maybe I'm just lucky.

To be fair, I'd rather have a machine untouched if the price is right, who knows if the fuses are wrong or if there's a short, etc., etc..

Could end up in a lot of problems for the seller and the buyer. Old electricity is scary to a lot of folks (and a lot of these things look very daunting), I don't blame them for not plugging them in. It doesn't bother me with pinball but if I saw a tiny old brown lamp cord going into a box filled with metal contacts I probably would have left it be before I was in the hobby as well.

As long as the price is right. If it worked their price would probably be higher.

#2661 7 years ago
Quoted from Otaku:

.

Hell yes. Untouched is the best. Who knows what some knucklehead would do under the hood if they had no idea what was wrong. Maybe start "adjusting" switches & so forth.

#2662 7 years ago

You guys are right. It just sounds sometimes like the seller is trying to pull a fast one but what you are saying makes alot of sense

Or loosening the screws on every switch stack and unscrewing the score motor from the board like some idiot did on the Aztec I picked up...

Game is in nice shape. Cabinet is pretty nice for a game from this era. Displays are nice and bright. Playfield does have some wear by an insert (see pictures). One of the bumper caps had the top broken off ( I still have that piece and could probably be MacGyver'd back on). Right flipper has been rebuilt. The outhole is getting flaky and sometimes won't register. Pinball does have its manual, keys and coin box."

#2677 7 years ago
Quoted from NicoVolta:

Wow that's an insta-grab.

Yeah, I picked up this machine. Good shape, happy to have it. Getting it was the adventure. Next door neighbor had skinheads over for a headbanger party. At the end of a court, live band thrashing inside the house, about 20 unsavory youth smoking weed / drinking / hanging out while watching a 50+ old dude disassembling pinball machine and putting it in my hatchback. Lady who sold it to me wouldn't tell me her name, took my money, went back in the house and locked her door. Lord, I love this hobby!

Production: 11,652
Cost: Current bid: $150
Location: Pagosa Springs, Colorado
Link/Contact: ebay.com link: WILLIAMS SPACE MISSION PINBALL MACHINE ARCADE 1976 EM NEEDS SOME WORK LOCAL PU

OP: This is an EM machine. All of the glass is solid. There are some places on the backglass that is losing some paint. I have taken pictures to show that. The machine does need some work. It turns on and lights up but does not activate. It looks like there are some fuses that are blown. I do not know how to work on these so I am not sure what is going on with it. It is being sold as is. There are also some extra parts that will come with it such as fuses, rubber rings for the bumpers, light bulbs. It will be for local pickup only.

Production: Unknown
Cost: $500
Location: Hilliard (Columbus), OH
Contact/Link: columbus.craigslist.org link
Condition: OP: "It has its original glass (excellent condition), original playing field (good/great condtion) and original them backboard (good/great condtion) which all light up. It was in a covered storage for the past 30 years without any light exposure.
Within the past month I have purchased and replaced all new bumpers, fuses and light bulbs (all working). The machine turns on, lights up and makes noise but still needs some fine tuning before it is ready to play.
I would love to keep this machine but when it comes to electrical work I don't know what I'm doing. I see on Ebay that this Chicago Coin Astronaut has sold for as high as $1,200 and that specific unit was not in as good of condition as mine making this a great deal! I am hoping to have it sold within the next 2 weeks, ideally to someone who appreciates the historic value as well as plans to restore it so it can play another 45 years."
