Quoted from Daditude:

I'm debating whether or not I should make an offer. He is obviously WAYYYY overvaluing this game for its condition. What do you think would be a realistic offer?
Would it be worth making an offer at all?

I played an On Beam at Cactus Jack's in Oklahoma City. For 3 or 4 games and moved on.

I took a look at your collection. Save your gas money unless you are looking to flip.

Even if it was free...there's no meat on the bone to flip!

I've never owned one, and I've just played it once or twice before. They DEFINITELY aren't found in the wild, either...so I would likely have to buy one if I ever want to play it again.

On Beam is one of the unfortunate minority of Bally EM's with the gigantic corkscrew relay. The plastic lever tends to be the weak point.

Not saying it's not worth fixing, but only if you have this particular machine on a personal wishlist.

is that something a 3d printer could make replacement parts for?

There are other solutions. Steve at PBR says that you should just machine a metal sleeve. I had a "King Rex", and I just wrapped wire around the broken clutch piece, and problem solved!

Like most here I'm always looking for project games. Sitting on 7 now that need restored. But they keep coming. I was offered a nice working Gottlieb Pinball Pool that had a new CPU for $500 that needs shopped. Let my Pin Buds snag it as I'm out of room and they will pick up and store a 1981 EBD and a Gottlieb Abra Ca Dabra I just got way below market price. Both are nice and need minimal work.

Deals are out there, keep looking. I will be selling at least 4-5 project games at Pinfest this year.

Planning to bring that 1981 EBD to Pinfest for sale?

That's a keeper in the quest of the 1981 Bally's. Joins Medusa, FG and FBII.

I can't see the ad either but that's either a screaming deal or the moldiest/firebombed/flooded/termite infested/left outside for 3 years Robo-War ever.

If I were closer, I would definitely go look at it. It looks R-O-U-G-H, though.

At the price these are going for these days...if one of you guys are nearby, you should really go check it out.

#24317 1 year ago

It's been ages since I've seen a robowar pop up in any condition. A little closer and I'd probably make a run at it.

How rough is R-O-U-G-H?

Pretty much every bit of exposed metal on my Excalibur was rusted and corroded, worth bringing back for the nice playfield and rarity though. Pretty much every drop targets spring fell apart in my hands.

Same here. I have already joined 3 or 4 groups to see this stuff. I can't keep up with all of the groups.

I get annoyed with the various groups as well. Pinball and my other hobbies have too many groups in FB. I just gave up.

Here's a few pics from the ad, inside cab and under playfield wasn't shown.

Show the underside though, that's going to be a major project.

#24324 1 year ago

At some point, someone gave the go-ahead to that backbox design.

What were they thinking?

#24325 1 year ago

For $700 that is still a steal. I'd be all over it if it were anywhere close to me..

But without seeing inside the head or under the playfield, could be gutted.

Yep, that’s exactly what a $700 Robo War looks like.
I appreciate the folks who called it.

Still a worthy project, Robo-War is awesome. Good luck to whoever gets it!

Quoted from John_In_WI:

At the time the game was made, pinball competition was going strong at different
venues... The high position score display is for the people/competitors watching
the game [ from behind the person playing ] not really for the person playing the game.

Today there are new camera/broadcasting tech. that do the job a lot better
at showing the scores/game progress for competition play.

#24329 1 year ago

I would check it out if it was closer. Would like to see what it would look like after a HEP restoration

#24332 1 year ago
Quoted from Slogan1111:

That's not a steal!

Yeah I didn't think so either, but figured if someone really wanted it, they could try offering a more fair price. I wish the Centaur beside it was available.

#24335 1 year ago

Good luck with this one. It took her 6 weeks to respond to me and haven't heard back again. Maybe my offer was too high since it was more than $1.

I owned Motordome off route in 1987. Paid $500. Only pin to depreciate in value over 35 years ! It looks like it should be fun, it has all the boxes checked, but it just isn’t.

Well, that's because of no Mel Gibson, and no Tina Turner, etc, etc,

I've owned well over 100 pinballs, and it is easily one of the worst I've ever had. Mine was MINTY...but the game only has 1 shot. That's it. Boring.

#24344 1 year ago

Motordome isn't THAT bad.. it's just also not that good.

#24345 1 year ago
Quoted from DanMarino:

Did any of you guys buy that Space Time yet?

The original buyer had issues getting it shipped apparently. The seller relisted it and I managed to snag it.

I feel bad for the original buyer, it's in terrific shape, probably the cleanest EM I've ever seen.

It's a brutal but very fun game. The Time Tunnel is really neat.

splickety_lit Congratulations on the Space Time! For $200 you can't go wrong with it. Throw some color matched LEDs in the time tunnel, clean and wax it, and adjust those pop bumpers. It's a lot of fun for the money. I enjoy flipping it and not having to think too hard about game objectives.

I got to do a repair on one that was an early model. The game had two extra connectors for the
chaser bridge lighting fx. Sadly the program was already altered and no mater what I tried I could
not get a single fx lamp to work. I later found that the last fx lamp is used to lite the top right
eject hole. The lamp has a green filter on it.

I have a couple projects I just dont think I'm ever going to get to.

I have a Bobby Orr Power Play, 6 flashes on the MPU, close to booting but not quite there yet. New CPR backglass, playfield and plastics (not installed). Cabinet needs work.

Also have an original Eight Ball Deluxe, new Weebly MPU, new CPR backglass, playfield and plastics (not installed). Also audio board rebuild kit from Big Daddy. Cabinet needs work. Legs are rusty, one is bent and will need to be replaced.

Just want what I have into them - $1900 for Bobby Orr and $4k for EBD.

PM if interested.
