Quoted from rkahr:

So, when a post that has the Pinside "members only" tag is quoted by another does the "member only" info become visible to non-members? This screen shot of the posts above suggests it does:

-Rob

Yes, it looks like you are correct. I just visited the page while logged out, and the original post said it was only visible to registered pinsders, but the quoted post showed the content from the protected post. That is unfortunate. I guess the only ways to avoid that would be to either suggest people don't quote links, or everyone begin using the protected format. Unless the settings can be adjusted somehow?

Made you look.

Classic Stern that I want within a couple hours of my house. Yep!

-visit https://www.kahr.us to get my daughterboard that helps fix WPC pinball resets or my replacement type 1 sound board for classic Williams games

You are correct.

I passed along the message about the pinsideonly tag bugs to Robin. Hopefully he will be able to fix them soon.

This is really not a salvageable machine, imo.

Other than the surface grime on the game, what makes you say that?

Not with that attitude!

The top of the board appears to be waterlogged in one of the pictures.

My bad.
Probably just a fuse floating somewhere inside the cabinet. %-)

Pat Hand and Fiesta for $180. Close to me, but I don’t have the room or time to tinker with them…

Nice candidate for a HardTop! I'd snatch it up, but my wife would kill me if I brought home anything other than a Space Station right now.

I'm very interested, but live in Henderson, NV.
Is anyone near Hazlet, NJ willing to facilitate this purchase (pick-up and shipment to Henderson, NV) for a fee?
Not sure if purchase facilitation is common with pinball machines or among Pinsiders, but vintage bike collectors help each other this way with long distance purchases all the time.
If so, send me a PM.

Did someone remake this PF? Maybe CPR? Or maybe they had plans to...I was hoping someone had a PF they could swap in to save this one. Hard top I'm not very familiar with...but another friend thought that same thing.

C'mon Jon!! Buy it!! I'll even deliver! Your wife looks very nice and understanding to me...lol

As murphdom said above they did make a Hardtop for this title. You could install a hardtop, but Cpr also released this title. You should be able to find a used playfield with little wear for a reasonable price.

I have a Genie mega-project machine available. Playfield is currently torn down completely, as the previous owner tried to clear it and it is terrible. I was able to remove the clear without damage with rubbing alcohol and a sanding sponge, but only did one small section.
Pictures of the machine are here- https://1drv.ms/f/s!Akk53b-cuRJ0i_BFfQzG88XydoxZFg
$200 without back box boards and displays, $450 with boards and displays. The boards are rotten dog power supply, aftermarket cpu (don’t recall brand), and factory driver board.
It was sold to me as a working project, but I have never fired it up.
Everything about it is rough but saveable based on your skill set.

That playfield looks nice under the clear. Definitely worth trying to save.

This might be a good candidate for the boards pinsider bontango designed.

Why do I get the feeling I've hauled this exact machine in the past?
Not that I could give any info of substance on it, other than it's heavy and takes up a lot of space in a trailer.

Any idea what was used to clear coat? Frankly, it looks like a few coats of 2PAC would hide the current pooling/streaking issue.

Lol, it does look familiar, doesn’t it? This thing is a beast in every regard.

No idea… I do know it comes off pretty clean with alcohol and sanding. I didn’t see this terrible clear in the pictures. It’s really “pooly” for lack of a better term.

GLWS. I’m not a SS guy but this looks to be a great and satisfying project. Someone: make it a Summer of Genie and post updates.
