Quoted from FatPanda:

It's pending already at 58 mins old.

Quoted from the ad:
“***IF THE POST IS STILL UP IT IS AVAILABLE***

Bally “Old Chicago” Pinball Machine for sale.
Believe to be made in 1976.
Machine works but a lot of bulbs are burned out. Mostof the mechanisms work. Some seem to be intermittent. There is damage to the right rear leg. Some cosmetic damage all around the machine from years or use. Some call it patina. Glass is intact. Comes with some spare parts for the bumpers. Don’t want to sell it but don’t have time to fix it up.

Asking $275
Please no stupid offers. Feel free to come check it out! Message with any questions.”

I guess it’s still available!

#22266 2 years ago
Quoted from truemagoo102:

Old Chicago! Someone get this!

Somebody better send Lance some help. Looks like the wifey is pissed that it is in the bedroom. Bent the leg and set fire to inside of backbox.

Backglass is the next to go. HURRY.

The cabinet artwork kinda gets lost in that wallpaper.

It was "electronic" devices used in old tv's, radios, etc before solid state was developed. They have to warm up before they will function properly...

Right, just not used in pinball machines
Seller was probably familiar with old jukes and TVs and figured the same applies.
Congrats to the buyer it looked great!!

Congrats to the buyer it looked great!!

Right, I was confused as to how it applied to the Top Score.

I would have bought it if closer. Looked super clean.

Tube pinball machines have a warmer sound.

Quoted from PinJim:

I saw that too. Someone is trying to make a quick grand?

Someone buying something and trying to make a buck has never really upset me all that much. But two things do get under my skin when I see something like that happen. First off at least sell it on a different venue. And secondly why not wait a few weeks or months and just enjoy the machine then flip it for a profit instead of being so obvious about it.

If you are going to "flip something" as least try to cover that fact up a little bit!

But "flippers" are a really stupid bunch of people for the most part. They think they are clever but they are actually the ones that ruin a hobby for everyone. They drive prices up, they make people feel like they got taken advantage of if that if the seller discovers they sold it to a flipper. And lastly they make it so hard for someone just looking for a machine to enjoy to find something at a decent price.

All of the above are parts of the reason we got away from the hobby a couple years ago. But in all honesty all hobbies have plenty of people doing exactly the same thing. So I guess it is all just part of life but it does take something away from a hobby for sure.

#22281 2 years ago

I had been absent from the hobby for the last 5-6 years.

An EM in non-working condition was a couple hundred dollars at best. Due to increased demand seeing the same condition pins selling for $800 or more is mind boggling.

I feel sorry for people new to the hobby paying high prices for pins that are in less than desirable playing condition and don’t know any better.

$1k or more for missing paint, cupped inserts and poor back glasses is just insane.

On the "flip side" in the past 5 years prices on everything we buy is up. Three years ago I bought a new Chevy van for $26,000 and for me to replace that van today with the same van it would cost me around $38,000 (if I can find one at sticker price). I agree some of the prices stuff is selling for is INSANE but EM's have been way under valued for at least the past 10 years (or longer).

What boggles my mind even more is the prices of some of the poorly playing early solid state machines. To see less than average playing Gottlieb System 1's or some of the Williams System 3,4 & 7 machines bringing what they are bringing has been driving me nuts. Earlier Bally & Classic Stern are the same way but at least those earlier Bally and Stern machines have some pretty nice looking art on them.

Capt fantastic pinball machine made by Bally. In very good cosmetic condition but could use a few new light bulbs and rubber bands. We purchased it back in the seventies and has been in our den. $600 obo. It’s very heavy and you will need to come get it. Thank you

I have a free to a good home dart board project

https://pinside.com/pinball/market/classifieds/ad/130370

The MPU needs attention. I started to trace out the board. My son was born early so that put a damper on any project progress. I need the space to do some shop repairs and upgrades. Game is complete.

A ton of work to clean those beasts and not a huge return if you’re lucky enough to sell it.

Looks like a first time Marketplace seller. Might prove challenging…

Edit: marked as sold.

A pretty rare game if I remember correctly. There was one on the east coast a few years ago...I was planning a 30 hr round trip to pick it up, but then my senses got the better of me.
