TWINKY!... The only issue with CC IMO is that the parts can be more difficult to find... the games themselves play very fast and the rules are quite fun.

I actually got one of these working with my son, had a lot of fun with it.

There is a sibling version of it (gunsmoke?) where the same animation is used only instead of the peacock, it is smoke clouds for a gunslinger theme.

There is a guy in the East coast who had a twinky parts machine I was able to buy some parts from.. if one of you grabs this, I can send you his contact if you need any mechs... but this is actually a very fun game.

#22202 2 years ago

Twinkle is a stripped down version of Gun Smoke.

Quoted from FrankJ:

Well, it came out a year earlier, and does not have the post save. Curious tho, if you know how the gunsmoke timing button works? I was not able to see the same track mechanism that twinky uses? This track mech that kicks a physical ball is quite interesting.. as when you have it cleaned up and working well, it actually makes hitting the animated score feature quite challenging (before servicing it, I could hit the 500 every time.. but after, it became quite challenging and fun).

Posted on Mr Pinball this AM:

Aquacade, 1949 United: $265.00
Up and running on 5c. Has expected wear on playfield but nothing bad. All plastics in nice condition. Backglass has some touch up. Cabinet is solid and never messed with. Looks good. Needs a lockdown bar. Beautiful machine when all lit up. Can bring to Pinfest in May, for free, but must be paid for in advance. I have a flea market space. Feel free to ask questions.

Rollercoaster tycoon having some electrical issues, doesn't seem too serious, a bit spendy for a 'project'..... but these days prices are all goofy anyway.

Any questions, send me a message. Thanks, Ken

Twinky is THE only CC pin that I'd actually consider owning, and I've played just about all of them going back to about 1970. That cabinet though, OUCH!!!

Quoted from bluespin:

Contact the seller and tell them that you’re a collector and you’re interested in buying the pin, but you need to see it in person in order to make an offer.
If they aren’t happy with that, then they’re firm on their price and you should walk. If they set up a time for you to look at it they’re already willing to lower their price.
Only take the amount of money that you think you’re willing to spend. If you’re not willing to spend more than $300, only take $300. If you take more money than that, you might spend it and justify it to yourself. A really nice Old Chicago was posted locally for $1200. I contacted the seller within a couple of hours and gave him this speech. We set up a meeting time and I brought $400 and drove away with the pin.
In your initial message provide your name and phone number and that you know the address will probably expire soon do we should stay in touch by texting.

bluespin hey, thanks for the advice! I emailed an offer of $150 a few days ago, and the seller got back in touch with me this morning, and now it's in my living room One hundred and fifty, how did I do?

Lol $150??? You did excellent. It’s a really great EM

#22211 2 years ago

$150 is a great deal, that wouldn't have lasted long in my neck of the woods.

Here's another Rack-A-Ball - This one is in SoCa and looks to be in decent shape:

You did great! Your project looks lonely, so start looking for a second one while you’re fixing this one up.

Coin slots are probably worth that... but when it is cleaned up, it will be worth gold, b/c it is a fun classic with Backbox animation

Yup, picked this on up for $500 while trying to finish up an Aztec.

Pardon me for asking a likely dumb question, but how does everyone feel about auctions? I ask because it appears there are parts machines just outside of Toronto for auction and they are stupidly cheap right now. I figure any single usable part may be worth it at the current prices.

Here they are just in case...

The sad part is that you do not know if the transformers are still in the games. Totem mechanical stuff has been stripped.

I feel like at auction we end up paying more than what it is worth.

I agree on this point as well. You don’t really know what you are getting until it’s yours.

No problem there guys--that's why I ask! I suppose the take-away is that you need to see pictures of more than just the playfield and those rarely occur.

Yeah.. those are cheap for sure. Just come up with a value for the visible parts to you, and make sure you add tax and auction fees.

Many people have heads for these things, I know I needed a Joker poker head, and am able to Frankenstein it together with a cleopatra parts cab I acquired.

The small sys1 transformer, which was the old reason to dread these, can be mitigated now with LED displays, so yeah.. if you have time and space, get it for the right price.. at best, you can bring one back.. at worst, people are always looking for sys1 parts

IMHO anyway.. I'd be all over these if I were closer.

My take on auctions is the less people that know about it the better it is for you to buy!

#22222 2 years ago

These days, pretty much any solid state is salvageable if you want to put in the work. I just gutted and rebuilt the control system for a Middle Earth and it's a much better game at this point, with some objectives. I'm about to bring an F-14 playfield back to life the same way, starting with nothing but a populated playfield(with the idea that I'll eventually retheme it to Top Gun).
So, as a parts fanatic, if those were in my backyard, I'd be all about that.

Holy crap that was an insanely good price for a 100% working Breakshot that needed rubbers.

It makes no sense why people still price this game so freaking low. It’s criminally underrated.

Probably because anymore these days if you ask even 1.00 over what someone thinks the game is worth you get publicly burned at the stake!

More the opposite I find these days.. lol.. maybe peoples friends, but people chime in with great price.. wish I was closer.. Price police are shunned and banned. I just smile and keep scrolling

Blackout
$850
Chesapeake Beach, MD

Seller:
Project Blackout up for sale. Game not working. Existing boards do not boot. GI lights. New repro backglass, inkochnito rectifier board, and new black legs. Playfield shows some wear.

The Picture was taken with donor boards installed. All the displays work, player one and two not showing due to strobe. I’ll post more pictures on Tuesday.

For some background: I swapped out the boards last weekend with an all-in-one mpu and power supply board (new all in one board and new power supply NOT included, machine comes with all four existing boards) and the game booted played and the displays worked. There’s a lot of mechanical work still needs doing as though: The drops didn’t register and four of the stand-ups don’t seem to register. But the Kicker kicked, the flippers flipped and the knocker knocked. With the new power board in, all voltages except the -12v measured correct at the TPs.

So, as I say, a project Blackout for sale. I’m into her for $850 total, I’d like to run this mystery down, but I gotta make room for my RUSH LE, so if I can get out even, it’s a win win.

Pickup only. I’ll post more pictures tomorrow.

SOLD!
