I think this is why I cringe when people call pinball machines tables.

The saddest part is someone put a bunch of effort into turning a project into parts. I'm sure they could get their $325 easier if they wouldn't have messed with it.

Yeah, it seems to be more ignorance than anything. I'm sure the head has been gutted, probably tossed. Honestly, I could probably do that in about an hour or 2. The only thing you'd have to wait on is the glass on top.

Kind of cool idea though! A great place to put your beer while you play!

First time contributing to this thread so I hope this is a good candidate. This one is ~2 hours from me but I know nothing of EMs. (Using the format seen in this thread.) I wish I had more time to learn to fix EMs.

What would be even better is: Since it's basically orphaned, and if you're running power to it anyway, why not put some sort of sound system in it and remove portions of the back door to aid in sound dispersal? You could make it into a really nice, and hidden, bluetooth speaker. Then it might be worth $325.

What an excellent first post contribution!
I’d contribute more myself but am so slammed with projects, I simply don’t even look anymore!

I really wish I knew how to fix these up because I have a feeling I'm going to see it go and regret not giving it a shot. I just don't think I've got the chops to fix it up properly.

My first game was a EM I knew nothing about them. For a buck and a half I would take a chance on it. There’s a lot of info on line on how to get a em going. If you can’t resell it and try to break even.

No better way to learn than to buy a well-priced project, roll up your sleeves, and introduce yourself to the fine folks in the EM tech forum here

For the price you cannot possible go wrong. I have a firm buying rule: Any pinball machine within 2 hours for $100 or less is a no-brainer.
When I’m out of space, my nearest pinball friends get their phones blown up! Seriously, even a lockdown bar fetches $100 nowadays. Even if it’s a moldy pile of junk, the parts are always good and you just can’t beat it. The market has only gotten worse!
PS in today’s market EMs are the final hope for affordable pins. You can buy 5+ EMs for the price of a mediocre DMD title.

The sale starts tomorrow morning and you live close. I would recommend going and making an offer. They price reasonably and they do discounts each day...but if you make an offer they might go ahead and take it.

Holy moly. Looks like this machine got whacked with a Samuri sword. Cabinet is very rough and playfield isn’t far behind. I’d offer 500.

As others have said take it home! This will force you to learn how to read schematics, and once you get that down (granted that in itself will take a while) and learn how the logic works, it actually can be kind of fun...in a frustrating kind of way.
If you're already familiar with working on the other physical mechs, you're already 50% of the way there. Do it!

Odd, no pics I could see.
On the Capt Fantastic, they didn’t return my call and when I got there first thing in the morning it was already sold.

Explains the missing picture, someone made them an offer they could not refuse.
Quoted from gdonovan:Explains the missing picture, someone made them an offer they could not refuse.
If they’d have called me back, I’d have made a decent offer. Maybe it was already sold by the time I called.

If you had bought it someone else would have not been happy with the estate sale people. That is the issue with selling items before the actual sale starts.

Did they say, or did you ask what it sold for ? It was rough in the pictures I saw...you may have dodged a bullet. House looked upscale and they probably demanded an upscale price.
Quoted from undrdog:If they’d have called me back, I’d have made a decent offer. Maybe it was already sold by the time I called.
I’ve contacted maybe 100 estate sales people. In the beginning I emailed them, and sometimes I received a response. If I follow up with a second question regarding their answer I usually don’t get a response. When I text I always get a response. It’s quicker for them to reply to a text then to find the time to call you back, leave you a message and wait for you to call them back, etc.

Can confirm. I own an estate sale business.
Did not get to see it. It was covered. Did not ask what it sold for.
The house it is in does not matter. Estate sales move stuff from one house to another. The Happy Clown I got a few months back did not come from the house where I bought it.
FWIW, that company was responsive.

Estate Sale in Cypress, CA on Feb. 4, 5

Lots of arcades/vids in this one as well as a Baby Pac Man. Plus, in the background of a couple of the pictures, you can see two TAF's. Lots of other vintage console games, too. I never go to estate sales early to line up or anything as I feel like that's just taking it a bit too far, but I would for this one, if I were local.
Please, someone who is local, go and either buy everything if it's a great deal, or tell us how stupidly high priced everything was!

The CL ad is still up on the Bellingham $150 machine. I am a bit late with this but if you do pick up an EM and are having trouble with it, even if nobody is nearby to help there is a terrific online clinic that helps people out. It is a regularly scheduled free zoom call. Just have a camera set up next to the machine

I think this is the best of the baseball pins. Take $550, inspect it and try to get it cheaper. Really nice playfield except that sunken insert above the flippers. Just needs a cleaning and fix the insert and touch up.
