Quoted from Miguel351:

Please, somebody go rescue that Free Fall! It's a great, rare game and needs to go to a good home. I just wish there was a way to buy it and ship it. The estate sale company only takes cash, so I'm fairly certain they wouldn't help with any kind of shipping or long distance purchases.

Find a local pinhead to buy and ship it on your behalf?

They only want $375 for it.

When "It's More Fun to Compete" ain't gettin' it.

Thank God it wasn't a Bally.

Don't over think it.

Just kids having a good time with the old pin in the corner of the basement. Looks like they enjoyed pinball enough to promote playing pinball to their friends. It is all positive messaging.

" Wanna play !!"

" It's Easy. "

" You can do it"

I'm guessing it is this is the time in life where the old pin was worth $5.00.

You don't even need any Pinball Pimp stencils to mark and mask this one off. Get your tape and your ruler and $40.00 worth of spray can paint and you can make it look like new again.

As fas as project pins go, it does not get much easier. It is not like anyone turned it into a coffee table.

Snow Derby is an awesome game. I'd buy that for sure if it were near me even with the custom artwork.

#22015 2 years ago

I wish that Free Fall had popped up last week when I was nearby. My father in law would love that game and lives in the area but don't think I can convince him to go grab it solo.

Or especially with this custom artwork?

Or with closer-to-original re-done artwork? (I do really like yours, NicoVolta )

Gottlieb apparently had a lot of white base coat lying around in the earlier days...

I used an off/antiquish white, trying to stay close to original, but I used a more purplish color instead of what you’ve described as the tequila sunrise shade Gottlieb used.

Definitely, I pried off the rails and color matched the untouched protected colors underneath, it’s a antique/warm white that used to be way more popular 50 years ago. The switch to “brilliant white” and bluish whites is a modern thing from the last 15-20 years.
I blame the LED revolution.

Gottlieb Lightening Ball project package (2 game) deal.

You get both for $1200, pick up in Brattleboro Vermont.

I have two lightening balls that I was planning on harvesting the best parts from to make a keeper for my collection, and a the other to sell.

I got the primary game working before I stored it, though it’s being sold as a non working project. Includes a schematic, new rubber kit, and a set of brand new PBR cream legs.

This would make a great project for someone new to working on EM games. Wood rails are very simple to understand, relative to the later EMs.

In this game, Wayne Nyens designed one of the first skilled flipper shots that could rebound to hit multiple targets around the playfield to achieve a sequence before sending in the ball back to the flippers.

Giving this group dibs before I list them this to the wolves weekend.

#22025 2 years ago

Also going to list a Williams “Set Up” project for $350, pick up in Brattleboro VT.

Rare (only 225 made) AAB version of “seven up”

Had this one working before storing as well, but being sold as a non working project. Has no backglass, but BGResto has done the glass for ”seven up” so it shouldn't be too difficult to get one made.

I went to look at a target alpha today. It was "kind of" working. It needed a lot of love, a couple inserts, rubbers, a big time cleaning, etc. He was stuck on $400, but I passed. If anyone is interested, it is listed in Dallas, TX on Facebook.

Good move. Target Alpha is Gottlieb's most horrible EM beast.

Grand Prix the most complicated? Don't make me laugh!

Yeah, Grand Prix's super full motor board is intimidating but nothing more frustrating than a misadjusted AX relay.

...and AS relays, and a crammed player stepper, and the fact that the wires leading to the DX/DXR relays are opposite of what is on the schematic.

Blech!!!!

Quoted from Atari_Daze:

And it has the legs!

Original legs...painted black by the owner.
Never turned on....but the boards removed to test (use) in other machines.
Original backglass...broken.
Damaged cabinet.
Best part, two great offers on the table, but not accepted.

#22034 2 years ago

The only thing missing is "No lowball offers, I know what I've got..."

Much too common. A yawner to play. Yes, same playfield layout as "Gold Strike" and "El Dorado", but that's where the similarity ends. "Canada Dry" is the same game (unfortunately) but has nice artwork.

I know I’ve been in the minority on this before, but I’ve played both the wedgeheads and still prefer Target Alpha. I like the new challenge of getting all the targets down every single ball. It’s been my favorite Gottlieb in my collection ever since I made a 24-hour round trip to Delaware to get it. I don’t find it to be a yawner or stinker at all.

20 hours is a long time for a game like this to stay out there. Hopefully the eller was overwhelmed by the initial influx of messages, and will come back this morning to your message first. It has happened to me before. Good luck!

I saw that - but it looks like it was a garage or storage being cleared out, so I'm hoping I'm lucky

#22050 2 years ago
Quoted from tomdrum:

Good luck! The machine being outside is concerning.

From the picture it appears someone is cleaning up and cleaning out a garage so the machine and other valuable items were likely put back into the garage once junk was cleared out. Likely family cleaning up an estate or someone sick of having their garage full of junk they are not using. So I don't think I would worry much about that. None of the stuff in the picture looks like it has been outside for very long.
