Not sure if anyone’s interested, but I have a pretty rare Gottlieb Ready Aim Fire project I haven’t gotten to. Game is complete minus legs, MPU is saveable. Big issue is the harness was cut, it’s all there, just cut and needs to be put back together. $1300oo. Hard to price this game, but I know two of them changed hands in the last year for $2500ish

Chicago Coin Kicker (1966) $125. Downingtown, PA. Looks like a legit project. philadelphia.craigslist.org link

I passed on one this year for only $800... I wish you luck, but RAF is also known as one of the worst Gottlieb’s of that era. It was a unique idea and it would probably interest those who collect the unique and strange. Such a major project will be a tough sell

#21358 2 years ago

Yeah I assume it’s only for those who like to own rare or odd ball titles. I’ve never actually seen or played one until I bought this one.

There is something "weird" about that machine. Production was suppose to be under 300 (or around 300) units yet I owned 3 of them in two years and knew of 7 others for sale at that same time. I had a hard time getting $600 for a nice one fully working several years ago. Times have changed but for some reason that is a "rare bird" no one seems to care about. Last time I looked Steve Young (Pinball Resource) still had NOS playfields for them.

Quoted from cottonm4:

Was up for 19 hours before I found it! Wonder if someone here got it or I was just the last one to see it while someone else was paying for it.

#21361 2 years ago

It’s an oddball game for sure, unfortunately last I emailed Steve he didn’t have any parts for it. This one has minimal playfield wear, and an average backglass, if someone buys is great, if not, I’ll just keep it until I get around to fixing the harness.

We kind of liked it when we had it. I just never understood why there seemed to be so many of them for sale when they only made a few hundred of them. Not a game for everyone but I am sure someone might want it. With "crazy" prices these days value is all about what someone is willing to pay. Price guides, average selling prices, etc don't really matter anymore. A seller just needs to find a buyer willing to pay the price they need for that machine (or item).

#21363 2 years ago

Yeah I don’t think $1500 for mine is insane for such a low production game, and I really based that on the couple I know that sold this past year. Most of my friends that have played it say the trick to making it fun is to play it with a power ball and not a standard pinball.

Alvin G. Pistol Poker is like that. Only 200 made, but they come up for sale every 2-3 months. They never finished the code for the game, so it’ll lock a ball during game play but never release it or some problem similar to that. Looks really cool, but not fun to play long term.

I have a friend who bought a Pistol Poker. I have played it twice. It does not resonate with me. It works OK with no errors but not fun to play.

What you call that? RFAR? Rare for a reason.

#21368 2 years ago

I can for sure say some rare games are that way, for me it’s about dialing the game in as best you can to make it fun, steep, tight tilt, a power ball. Anytime I make a game “difficult”, I tend to enjoy it more.

This is Lloyd's (Coinop Warehouse) daughter's business. Lloyd and his son submit items for her auctions, plus collectors also. Prices tend to be really high.

They already are. I'm liking the Eight Ball project game to turn into a 1981 EBD at some point with a donor EBD LE. Just need that cabinet. Bally cabinets in 1977 are so solid compared to post 1979 stuff. It's missing all the boards, displays and has screws in the lock down bar. But at $150 now with 3 days to go and adding in the 18% buyer premium plus tax, I'll be more than half the way to the last 2 Eight Ball's I picked up that were complete.

Looking for advice (first project purchase!).. is 1500 fair for a Xenon that isn't booting up? Altek MPU, but when they got the repaired soundboard/ driver board it didn't boot.

I've seen functional ones go for less, but the original PF is important to me and this one won't need a hardtop. It also has this metal part on the cabinet but I don't really care enough to change it... input appreciated, thanks!

Listing for "tax"-- Buccaneer $650 MD, needs new fuse box and legs https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/592942198393522/

If the playfield is in decent shape then yes. My guess if they have an Alltek and repaired driver board in it is that the rectifier board might need attention. Worse case a new one is not that expensive. Could also be something simple like a blown solenoid fuse if they don't know much about repairs.

I'm guessing that's a Headphone Jack? 1/4 inch Phono plug that has been used for years.

#21381 2 years ago

I think it's a decent price if the playfield is in good enough shape. I just know when I last passed on a game because the price was a couple $100 too high (or so I thought at the time), I kicked myself over it for years until I finally snagged one.

If/when you're ready to do some troubleshooting, you've got some of the best Bally techs here at pinside. Good luck!

Junk around here is going for $1000+ so with a decent playfield and new boards I'd drop $1500

FYI if there is a short in the switch matrix Altek will not boot. Step one is unplug switch matrix and see if it boots.

Like I said, on the Altek unplug the switch matrix and see if it boots. Unplug the two connectors on the right side of the MPU.

I picked up a Mr and Mrs Pacman which had an Altek and would not boot, turns out when the former owner installed LED's he bent one of the sockets into the switch matrix. Took me 15 minutes to figure it out.
