Quoted from pinostalgia:

this xenon is a working machine, not a project.

I would consider a $ 1,100 working Xenon a STEAL. Go get it.

#21202 2 years ago

The pinball machine doesn’t have to be a project. This forum helps alert Pinsiders to great deals and cheap machines. That’s my take. If others correct me, I apologize and won’t post.

Quoted from cottonm4:

Let's give it some perspective.
This is my Seawitch play field. It is being replaced with a Greatwich play field. I suppose it will wind up as a wall hanger if someone will buy it.
[quoted image]
This is the right side of my Seawitch cab.
[quoted image]
This is the inside of the right hand side of my Seawitch cab. You will notice a lot of paint missing from the inside of the cabinet. The reason all if this paint is missing is because the entire right hand wall of the cab is warped, or bowed inward. So every time the play field is raised, the side of the play field scratches paint from the wall. It is not just paint scratched off. There are grooves in the wood. The side of the cab is bowed inward about 3/8" at its deepest point.
[quoted image]
For 4 years I figured I would do a carpentry trick called kerf cutting. While doing kerf cuts will probably work, I don't know how well it would work and I am leaning in the direction of replacing the entire sidewall. But if I am going that far, then I might as well just build a new cab, which is my plan.
This will leave me in a position of having an old blown out play field leaning against the wall and an old wigged out cabinet taking up space.
What would you, or anybody, suggest I do with these two worn out pieces of shit? I could throw them in the dumpster. I could set them afire.
I have extra worn out flipper assemblies. I have some old nicotine stained pop bumper parts laying around. And I will also have an old set of plastics. And I have lots of used rubber rings.
I have enough stuff laying around that I could build a coffee table that looks like an old pinball machine.
Should I build a coffee table, or should I throw all of this stuff away?

I wouldn’t throw it away. I could use the playfield and cab. Make a table if nothing else.

#21204 2 years ago

still looking for a project cosmic gunfight if you have one that you are thinking about getting rid of.

#21205 2 years ago
Quoted from Da-Shaker:

I would consider needing a new play field a project.

Thinking the exact same thing. Also love how they have screenshots of $5k eBay sales. Like condition is irrelevant.

Trust me you dont want to open that can of worms. I brought up similar things in the past and got flamed. Even suggested taking "project" out of the thread topic since the majority of the games posted are not "projects". But...... well...... yup .

Selling my Flash. Light project Flash pinball. Overall very good condition. Playfield is very nice with a little wear. Backglass has some paint flaking but very presentable. Cabinet is very nice. A couple of bumps but color is real nice. The game has been updated to a System 7 cpu board, was a System 4 with all modifications done (not by me). I shopped the top side of the playfield. Cleaned all plastics (top left is broken), posts, pop bumper caps (put leds in them), all lights working, all switches working including drop targets. Game worked at that point. A few days later went to work on underside of pf. Turned game on. Came up with 04 in ball in play. Turned game off and on a few times to see if it was battery issue. Nope. Have manuals and coin box. Time to move on. Game is taken apart and in garage for easy loading. Have pics. $875. Located by Milwaukee WI.

I was going to poke my brother and tell him to go get this one. The rust makes me lean towards not being a great first project for him being that there could be who knows what with the boards too. Good for someone with spares and experience though.

yeah, it's pretty rough. Probably not worth the $1K asking. If it were 6 or 800, then maybe, but there's a lot of surface rust everywhere like you pointed out, which means it was probably in a damp/humid area for a long time. But despite that, most of the components look like they're in decent shape. This is definitely an "inspect first" game.
