OP: Ok. So I REALLY REALLY REALLY DONT WANT TO DO THIS. But with the bills that are about to be thrown at me I kinda have to..

I have a space invaders that I was in the middle of doing a playfeild overlay on. Needs to be finished. need final clear sanded and buffed and then everything put back onto the playfield.

Boards where all working , everything was working prior to being stripped down for the overlay
Back glass is basically perfect, cabinet isn't to bad, playfeild is in the middle of an overlay job, new plastics and other stuff. Needs completed . Also comes with an extra overlay !

Like i said. I really don't want to sell this but I gotta do what I gotta do.

Middle-pop alert!

I sure hope one of our fellow VECTORIANS gets that Fan-Tas-Tic. Saw it this morning and almost fell out of my chair. If I didn't own a Freedom prototype I'd already be on my way to pick it up. Backglass and PF condition look great. Art package isn't quite as cool as Spanish Eyes... but the game offers more to do overall. So it is probably the second best middle-pop game out there.

#1916 3 years ago

Update: We got it.

Now our members have all three of the 3" middle-pop games. And at least one of the 2" middle-pop games: Safari (though, sadly, a dead bumper).

So, if we can get an 8-Ball/Cue-T/Miss-O (same layout) and Magic City... we'd have them all (woodrails excluded) and could do a middle-pop showcase at TPF 2017.

I'm thinking yes!

Somebody nabbed a nice looking Gottlieb Pioneer today in Kissimmee, FL for only $150. I wanted it badly, but 1) was stuck at work and didn't have flexibility to leave today, and 2) I'd just dragged the family on an evening trip to pick up another machine last Friday. Still, I regret not aggressively going after it. Seller said "it was working fine and then it just stopped working, now it's just taking up space." Grr. Well, I hope it was someone on here anyway...

I think we're up to four people in my local league that all own Spanish Eyes...

#1923 3 years ago
Quoted from RyanClaytor:

No worries... there are lots to go around. Spanish Eyes had a high production run over 3000, and Fan-Tas-Tic a few thousand more than that.

Of the 2" versions sharing the same layout (8-Ball/Miss-O/Cue-T) the combined run was around 10,000 units. Even Magic City got up near 3000.

They are still attainable for reasonable prices, so get one while the gettin's good! Middle-pops rock!

In order of preference I'd of course grab any Freedom prototype no matter what condition it may be in. Then...

(tied for second) Fan-Tas-Tic and Spanish Eyes. Fan-Tas-Tic has more going on, but is a bit slower in part due to the roulette wheel. Spanish Eyes has better artwork and blazing gameplay... but is somewhat simplistic.

3. Magic City (very pretty art, less common than the others)

4. 8-Ball/Miss-O/Cue-T (more common, and the same layout as Spanish Eyes but with 2" flippers)

5. Safari (dead bumper is a bit of a bummer compared with the rest)

Beyond those, all that are left are the 1950's middle-pop wood rails. I've listed them a few times on Pinside. Never played any yet and the speed and layouts vary widely... so no idea how well they would compare with the 60's/70's machines above.

I think we need to design more middle-pop games!

Game/Type: Disco Fever / SS Banana Flippers 4 Player
Month/Year: August 1978
Production: 6,006
Manufacturer: Williams
Game/Type: Tri Zone / SS 4 Player
Month/Year: July 1979
Production: 7,250
Cost: $325 Ea.
Location: Bellingham (Abbotsford), BC
Link/Contact: bellingham.craigslist.org link
Condition: OP: "2 late 70's Williams project pinballs, selling individually, but would prefer to sell the pair.
Both games have MPU boards, and sound boards, and complete display sets, but are missing the driver boards. Tri-Zone is also missing the power supply. None of these boards have been worked on or tested and should be considered to be needing some repair, but both do have the correct Roms installed. All needed boards can be found on Ebay
Both of the games playfields are in very good shape for games this age, but they have not been shopped in any way. Cabinets on both games are in fair condition for the age.
Tri-Zones backglass I would rate a 6-7, presentable, but has some paint cracking so it has had a preliminary triple thick coating to seal it.
Disco Fever backglass is about a 4-5, usable if you are not overly picky, but has a fair bit of paint loss. I do have another much better glass that I am willing to sell to whoever buys the DF."

Quoted from John_in_NC:

Funny to see love for Fan-Tas-Tic. That's a game that is commonly parted out.

No, that's what Jubilee and Darling are for. ?

Sadly, a lot of Fan Tas Tic backglass are badly flaking as were many Jubilee and Darling and Aztec. Not a good era for Williams glasses.

It also comes with the original back box that is fully populated and the parts off of a Grand Prix Playfield along with the relays that would be at the bottom of the cabinet. Make me an offer on everything you see."

There is nothing wrong with the glass. It is just a reflection in the pics.

This may work. We don't know because we are just the middle men. It came into the warehouse with the price and no other information. This is sold as is, where is."
