No but a local collector that I know bought it. At least it went to good home, and not to a flipper. I didn’t get this one but I’m hoping to strike gold by the end of the month.

It was listed in one ad as $400 11 hours ago. Then they relisted in a new ad for $350 an hour ago.

The lock on the backdoor needs to be drilled. The person who showed up didn't have a drill and couldn't take the head off and therefore couldn't take it. Amateur hour if you ask me. Any time I pick up a pin from a non-pinhead, I always bring a drill. Hell, I bring my travel toolbox every time I pick up a pin.

Yes sir! The only way to travel.

I also bring lock sets. That way if I have to drill out a coin door, I can replace the lock in two minutes, and I don't have to listen to the coin door swing open and shut for 350 miles like I did with my second purchase.

Packing tape does a pretty good job too haha

Wedgeheads in NY

I contacted the seller 2 hours after his post. He said that he's already working with someone on the whole package. I thought about asking you to go in on it with me, but none of those games are in better condition than yours. They look pretty rough for the most part.

I offered on the whole lot but he wanted $2,700 and I passed on that. Most of those games are reaaaaally rough. I was interested in BaB, TP and Aquarius, but the rest are games that don't interest me and seems like piecing those rougher ones out at $400 a piece would be a chore.

They wanted 9 grand for it. She said their appraiser told them between 8 and 12.
She said they've had a lot of phone offers for $4500, but they won't ship. If anyone on here is looking at it - this isn't a HUO machine. Its been routed before.
The family selling it owns a local burger chain, its been in one of the stores.

The real question is who got the Catacomb for $100?...

I was interested in the TP and Aquarius. They're the best of the bunch and they're not worth 400.00

So, you are telling me this Catacomb was at that Omaha estate sale with The Simpsons but was not advertised? Is that what you are saying?

I needs a back glass but it sure is nice looking.

yep- for $100
If you look in the picture there is syrup for a snow cone machine that was for sale too for $250.
I am still pounding my head over it.
A ten second google would have showed that the Catacomb has value way over $100, I guess the “appraiser” was a Simpson fan?

#19282 1 year ago

Damn. And I told someone about that sale too. If they had been interested in Simpsons and gone to see it....

#19284 1 year ago

I missed it by seconds. I got there when the sale opened, we went straight to the basement on the off chance the price was low on the Simpsons. Stood down there laughing with some other guy when we saw the price on it. I think I walked past the person that bought it. I went back in to find someone that was working the sale and they told me someone had literally just bought it (Catacomb). Then she told me it went for 100 bucks. All she knew was that it 'needed a new plug'.
So we went back today just to see if Simpsons had any offers on it and to grab a filing cabinet. No offers on it, so no one thought it was worth $4500. (offer has to be 50% of asking).
And it was in rough shape. There was burn through on the cabinet by the flipper buttons, playfield was starting to show a little age, but wasn't horrible. Rubbers all filthy.

We go to a lot of these things, and usually chat with the lady working there quite a bit. I gave her a bit of grief about the appraiser and told her he was light years off on some of the stuff.
The guy that runs it was telling me the appraiser usually gives them a range, and they go on the lower middle end.

First time I've seen any pins at any of the sales i've been to.

Can confirm.

My wife works for the biggest estate sale company in the entire region. I have only seen 2 pinballs over the last several years. 1 was priced way too high (they even said they didn't want to sell it), and the other was a "Z" titled game that was only good for parts.

Wish this was closer. This should clean up nicely. Would the S in the top left indicate a sample game?

#19294 1 year ago

Poof! That didn’t last long. Great price and the playfield looked fantastic. Worth 900-1000 in today’s market in my opinion

I think it’s just an operator sticker so they can identify their games if they get stolen. I have a sample Gottlieb Hyde Park and the serial number has an S stamped on the cabinet at the end of the number sequence to indicate a sample.

I snagged the only good pin deal I've seen in the past few years, but I was 2hrs early to the sale, and never left the machine, had someone bring the ring guy to me

Me: Seller removed the coin door and credit chutes and installed a metal plate with a credit button in place of the coin door. Part EM, part SS pin. It's the Lee Majors of pins! This is in my neighboring city, and a good title, yet I have no desire to buy it and try to reverse engineer this cyborg coin door situation.
