Quoted from luckycreature:
And he sold it to someone else this morning after he agreed to hold it till Saturday. Oh well you can't win sometimes.
To give a seller the confidence to hold something, it helps if you offer to PayPal him some deposit money. Considering how many "buyers" never show up, and now considering all of the travel restrictions, most sellers will go with the cash that they can see.
You have to let that seller KNOW that you are really interested.
I bought a Craigs list project two years ago. The ad said "sale pending". I reach out anyway and said if the deal fell thru that I was a buyer. 2 days later I see the "sale pending" is removed. I sent out another CL email stating that I was a buyer, that I could do the deal in one day, PayPal the money etc. Call me. Text me. What ever.
On day 3, as I was fixing to attend a funeral, I got a text. The seller was a "she". She said she had a lot of contacts wanting this pin and she was trying to be fair and go in order, however, she said my messages to her were the only ones that sounded real; Her first deal fell thru; All the others were wishy-washy.
I was lucky that my sister-n-law lived about 10 miles from the pin. I had to have S-I-L hand deliver the $300.00 cash that day. 2 days later I was on my way to pick up.
If it is a pin you really want, you have to be very aggressive to make the seller understand that you back up your musings with CASH ! You have to be willing to assume some risk that your money might not come back to you with a PP deposit.
