1974 Williams Star Pool - $450.00 (Silver Spring, MD)

#14958 4 years ago
Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

Baby Pac-Man is known as the hardest Pac-Man game ever made. It is a challenge to get past the 3rd maze (unless you set it extremely easy)
And the programming on the half playfield is incredible, it is ridiculously fun and challenging. The outer lanes will advance your timed “extra baby” shot, the inner lanes will even up your spell PAC-MAN columns, the saucers award you 2 extra letters, the captive ball awards a full column!
That’s with only HALF a playfield. It’s a ton of fun and really relies on perfect aiming and nailing combos.
/endpricepump/

Alright you convinced me, I picked it up this afternoon. Got a little bit more off so I’m excited to get it back up and running. Should just be a cap kit on the monitor and some plugs like the add mentioned.

Man, estate sales are great. Bargains galore! Hmmm...estate sales usually means someone has died. Hmmm. Estate sales are great !

Quoted from cottonm4:

Not every time. Sometimes it's a moving sale of some sort. Someone going into assisted living, a nursing home, or downsizing to an apartment.

Yep-Estate sales do not mean someone passed....

Got my first 2 pins from an estate sale (EK & BW100)....and both below market value.....

Yes, it could be a moving sale or a living estate sale.

I'll give you downsizing to an apartment. Or hitting the road in your RV.

Assisted living, in most cases, just means the end is not that far offAnd if you really liked to play your pins, you will probably feel like you died when the cold turkey slaps you with a wake up call of "game over".

But going into a nursing home? You might as well be dead. Those places are misery.

As a director of environmental services in one that has been in operation since 1955 I beg to differ. While there are bad apples out there, there is also very good ones that rarely make the news.

We even have pinball.

I apologize. I was not wagging a finger at the nursing homes. My girlfriend's mother was in an assisted living facility for a couple of years and then had to be moved to a nursing home where she was an Alzheimer's patient for 6 years. She, and the other patients were well taken care of. But none of them could take of themselves. And that is not living.

The day I can't get up and put my boots on is the day that it is time to check out.

I feel the same way.

Some people actually do enjoy being here, they can do as they please to some extent and we have lots of social programs. We even have BBQ cookouts every month in the summer. Sad to think that some have a better life there then being around family at home. There are people that park mom or dad in a long term facility and never visit which is the saddest.

Those with Alzheimer and related dementia's are hard cases. We only have people who have normal age related issues but I worked in one place with a locked ward for the serious cases... Imagine not being even able to remember your children. Very tough.

I think "estate" is French for "some shit an older relative of mine has that I don't want." French is a very efficient language.

Fully agree on the last part. My Mom does not know any of her kids. Sad, but on the bright side, she does not have to worry about paying for any care due to the way her retirement, SS, Navy Spouse Survivor pay, her own Navy retirement pay, and judicious land holdings she bought or inherited over the years worked all in her favor. She can afford the best and damn well deserves it.

OP: Condition is Used but great! Owned 15 years. Everything appears to work! Left front leg is slightly damaged, pulling from cabinet.

Me: That's a bit of an understatement. Significant cabinet repair work needed there! $650 wouldn't be bad if the cabinet was intact and everything worked. And I gotta wonder...if the guy really has owned it 15 years, couldn't he be a little more assuring than "APPEARS to work"?

Actually, from the little bit that I can see, repairing that cabinet will not take all that much to repair. Putting that front panel back on, assuming there is no other damage beyond the front panel pulling away, would take 2-3 hours worth of time to fix. It would help to have a table saw.

I like Flip Flop. But I don't do EMs. If it were closer and was a solid state pin, I would not let that cabinet stop me. It is made of wood. You can do all kinds of magic tricks with wood. But shipping in this condition might be a challenge.
