Quoted from cottonm4:Except that whole Quicksilvers are hard to find and pricey.
That Ebay play field was in pretty good shape. 6 months ago I would have said OK deal. But with Mirco reproducing Quicksilver play fields that dynamic has changed. Unless he is the artist. it will cost him almost as much to restore that play field as to just go buy a Mirco. He will need a plastics set and will need to find both a 3-bank and 4-bank drop target since the ones on the play field were stripped.
Today, you can buy:
New plastics from pinballrescue.net.................= $125.00
Third Coast Pinball wire harness.....................= $150.00 ( approximate)
Pinball Life
New pop bumpers ( not period correct).............= $150.00 per set
Flipper assemblies..........................................= $120.00 per set
Mirco play field...............................................= $800.00
==========================================
Sub-Total..............................................................$1345.00
Drop targets ( getting hard to find )
......budget $75.00 each..........................................$150.00
==========================================
Total....................................................................$1495.00
So for, $1500, you can buy everything you need to assemble a complete working QS play field. Bulb sockets and incidentals have a price but I I'm not going there. You will have replacement pop bumpers but not the nice original plastic pops.
The Ebay unit sold for $910.00 plus $70.00 shipping ........= $980.00
Needs plastics...............................................................=$125.00
2 new flipper assemblies.................................................=$120.00
============================================
Sub-Total.....................................................................=$1225.00
==============================================
Play field restore charges ???....$600.00 minimum ?? ...........$600.00
Drop Targets ???...............................................................???????
============================================
Total...............................................................................$1885.00
With Mirco play fields now available, the Ebay sale was not a great deal.
In both cases, you will still need a donor pin for a cabinet and back box.
To restore the Ebay unit, you will need to strip everything from the play field. With a new Mirco, all you have to do is install everything for less labor involved.
Of course, one can argue that both setups of the above are overpriced, especially when compared to some other pins prices. But that would be another story.
OTOH, if all you wanted was player pin, with some minor work, this play field could be dropped into a cabinet with new boards or a ROM change and you are playing.
Bro! You need a hobby! Oh...wait...

Guy won't ship,
It's an incredible deal if anyone lives nearby. I would already have it if I were within any somewhat -reasonable distance
I just got a Williams diner project that is in need of a few things. Does anyone happen to have any extra pieces, plastics, parts, etc?
I am also looking for the cash register, a system 11 coin door, and system 11 legs.
If anyone has anything or could give me a lead, it would be greatly appreciated.

Not a project, just a rare game in excellent condition.
Yes.captain neo. Just super rare at a great price
Quoted from dc2010:Ya know if that were local I'd snap it up
You would snap anything up that's local
Quoted from Colsond3:Haha...you bastard! 14 1/2 hours each way for me. Not for a $400 project game. The game would end up nutting me $1000 with travel costs.
"Nutting" you?
Yikes! I would stay away from it then...but, ya know...to each their own.
Quoted from gdonovan:I'm feeling angst, I'll be down 3 pins by next weekend, Grand Tour has been clear coated, Haunted House is running and I'm waiting on parts for it and I have empty space in the workshop.
Time to start thumbing through the ads again!
Find one for me too, bud.

Quoted from cottonm4:Yes. He sold it once earlier today with one bid. I don't know what happened with this. Maybe his buyer got cold feet.
But if you look deeper into his feedback you will see he has 27 feedbacks, all over a year old, and all are positive. To say he has 0 feedback is not correct.

Quoted from Mathazar:It's $699 on CL: denver.craigslist.org link I was thinking about it but I don't know the machine at all and have never worked on System 11's. I'll be looking for a new Bally SS project soon, tho.
I shared this with a buddy and he ended up getting it.
Quoted from ForceFlow:I've always like Space Invaders as a piece of art, rather than a game. As a game, it's not very good. As a piece of art, it's eye catching, and I enjoy looking at it. Plus, it has the nostalgia factor for me, since it was one of the main location pins available to me when I was a kid.
I imagine this is part of the reason why it appeared in the Captain Marvel movie--it's an interesting looking game.
I have the playfield for my wall. That's enough.
Quoted from Mathazar:Here's an interesting one - Game Plan Camel Lights cocktail pin: denver.craigslist.org link Lots of pictures.
OP: I have a non working Camel Lights Cocktail pinball Machine made by Game Plan. The manufactures idea around this cocktail table was that you could swap in different playfields (7-8 of them). Pretty unique and a lot of fun if you're willing to put in some time to get this working.
Here's what I noticed:
- Missing 3A fuse on power supply
- Missing main MPU (still has all other game boards)
- Small Playfield wear
The outside of the game is in average condition with some scrapes; inside of the game is in pretty clean shape. Playfield alone is worth my asking price but I'd prefer not to part this out so please no requests to sell you one part of the game. Pretty interesting piece of memorabilia in that R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company would partner with a Pinball / arcade manufacturer.
I cannot deliver and I will not take anything less then $300 cash.
I got an error when clicking it. It must have sold.
Quoted from brenna98:Do you have a better link?
I tried searching "classic arcades" in facebook, but can't find the post.

Screenshot_20200113-125306 (resized).pngQuoted from Isochronic_Frost:Guy sent a bunch of pictures and raised all his ads to $650. Not sure if it’s worth it. He’s sent me a TON. But again... Gameplan, with a bad MPU...
It's so rare. If I were closer, I would pick it up. Always too far
Quoted from Colsond3:And I did clean out the cabinet. It was filthy.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Why am I always too far away
Quoted from Colsond3:I hear ya Tom. Overall this game isn't bad at all...actually pretty nice. Probably won't even post an ad. If nobody comes for it today or tomorrow, I might just put it in storage for now. With today's outlandish BS prices, I would imagine any Bally SS game for $350 wouldn't last long. But who knows.
I used to own one. It's not the most challenging game, but it would look stunning next to my paragon.
Quoted from AgentX:??? Well, it is until big mouth jerks start sharing their search results all over Pinside.
If you find anything in my area (or even remotely close) that isn't double the price or a pachinko machine...feel free to post it
Quoted from edward472:What are we suppose to do? Have everyone draw a 100 mile zone around our locations and promise each other we won't post games we find outside our personal zone? Or should we all check with you and see if it's ok to post search results that fall within 50,100, or 200 miles of Cumming, GA?
I always thought this thread was specifically created for the purpose of sharing pins....

He said he will take 350, but the pics look like that is still too much. It is also a 5-6 hour drive for me each way.

Congrats on the 37+ downvotes in your 4 posts.....don't think ive ever seen that before...must be a Pinside record.
Quoted from Murphdom:Thank you to bluespin, nascarrey and all others who keep this thread strong. Let’s keep saving one pin at a time and keep the hobby affordable for some who can’t afford it, don’t want the high end pins, who are looking for deals, or for those who prefer working on them rather than playing them. Anyone who wants to be negative should just unvisit the thread.
This is one of my favorite Pinside threads. It has remained strong for a long time, and it has undoubtedly led many of us (and our friends) to great deals we may have otherwise not come across. I have also personally met several pinsiders and hung out with/made friends due to this thread.
I always get excited when I see fresh new posts in here. The community in this thread is awesome. Keep it up. Thank you

Quoted from bluespin:This might be a good project for someone. It does have a reimport coin door and a lot of people have had problems with electrical hacks on reimport pins. Three pictures and not one with the game on and the displays working. The backglass has typical touched up nose wear. This is in my neighboring city, but I've got enough projects. Plus I already have a R&B project and my project starts a game (and was cheaper).

I would definitely get it, but its so far

It does says "OBO." It is located in Iowa, but if anyone is thinking about going for it, there are 2-3 titles I would buy from you.
Quoted from too-many-pins:Pretty much ever pinball machine has a lest $350 in parts on a populated playfield (even EM machines). Going back to High Speed: used plastics $75 for set (more if you sell them one at a time), ramps $25 each, 3 flipper assemblies @$25 each = $75, pair slingshots $20 to $30, kick out assembly $20 to $25, Drop target assembly $35 (or more), 3 spinners @ $8 each, out lane kickback $20, plastic post $10, hardware $15, light sockets $5, harness $25, apron $10 to $35, rollovers with switches $15, etc.
A few dollars for some items - a little more for others - it all adds up pretty quickly. You also have wire lane guides and other little stuff. Then guys are paying $50 (or more) for stripped playfields for wall art (I typically give playfields away because I don't want to ship them).
So now for guys thinking I am making a killing on parts. An average machine takes me about 12 hours to part out and another 12 hours to list and ship the parts (including answering emails - etc). So about 24 hours of time invested.
As far as the money end of things: cost of machine, cost of storage, cost of packing supplies, eBay & Paypal fees, plus cost of fuel to go get machines all add up. Typically I can part out and list parts from two machines a week. Netting me about $1500 a week in parts sales. Cost of machines I part out and monthly overhead takes about 50% of that money, eBay & Paypal fees another 20% of that money leaving me with about 30% gross profit. So basically I make about $500 a week dealing with these parts when I am working at it more or less full time. Less than $10 per hour & hardly worth the effort. But I don't do it for the money - I do it to help people and to save "junk machines" from the landfill so all is good.
I have a lot of parts and plastics I need to sell (Taxi, whirlwind, monster bash, sorcerer, firepower II, Williams system 7 mpu, sorcerer).
If anyone is looking for any of this stuff, feel free to PM me

Quoted from too-many-pins:Sadly shipping coast to cost would be crazy expensive anyway. Rock & Gold Wings would likely be the least expensive to ship and easiest to pack. If you are seriously interested I can see what shipping would cost and let you know but I can guarantee you will not like what it is going to cost to ship. My best guess would be over $200 according to my recent research.
Quoted from pinostalgia:thank you,i shipped a playfield to tennessee a couple years back for around $60 usps, fedex and ups quoted me slightly higher, but it was just a plain board for a hollywood heat (non populated).
I have recently bought and had playdields shipped. They were 75 for a single, but it was cheaper to bundle 2 or 3.
There would also potentially be be the option of Dan Scott or Bob Cunningham, which would likely be cheaper if it was along their routes.
Quoted from too-many-pins:Empty playfields are fairly cheap to ship they only weigh a few pounds. FULLY POPULATED playfields weigh between 60 and 100 pounds and the box needs to be 48"x25"x10" (or bigger). Shipping an empty playfield is much different than shipping a populated playfield. USPS will not even ship a populated playfield (box size is too large and weight is typically too heavy).
Shipping a populated playfield is like shipping a third of a machine. And shipping something that big & that heavy doesn't happen cheap.
If you want to try something try packing a fully populated playfield for safe shipping - it is a ton of fun. I hate even trying to pack them to bring them to a show and doing that I am the only one handling them.
You are 100% correct. I didn't realize they were populated.

Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:Fast Draw is waaaaay too good to be parted out.
Open your mind to EMs! Don’t believe the DMD-hype crowd, there are genuinely fun and entertaining EMs made! Fast Draw is great.
I second. Fast draw is a very cool game.
Quoted from bluespin:$3000 for three projects and they aren’t playable? That seems high
It is high. Star race is rare, but it is just a so-so game. The other 2 aren't rare OR good.
Depending on condition(which I can't fully tell from the pics), these should be priced 1500 or less for all 3.
Quoted from stlscott:Is Split Second a rare and valuable game? I'm restoring one myself right now. I agree, I don't find many ever available for sale.
They are not very valuable simply because a lot of people don't know about them (I.e. the demand isn't there). I do think it is one of the most undervalued games, however.
It is very rare. I would guesstimate that only about 50 still exist. It has an incredibly quirky theme. It has speech, an upper playfield, lots of drop targets, great artwork, a very interesting loop shot, and a 3 ball multiball. So...literally everything people say they want from a game of this era.
They cost about 1k fully working, but have rarity and very similar qualities to pins in the 3k+ range.
It is a very worthy resto project. If you are looking to sell, feel free to PM me.
Quoted from zacaj:I think that's the point though. Pinside collections can only ever be conservative estimates. If even on pinside for a less desired game 50 people have it, there's probably way more still in existence.
I opined about this very thing in another thread recently:
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/question-about-the-rarity-of-rocky#post-5720542
Quoted from zacaj:Most of what you say there is sound, until you get to "Pinballs from this era dwindle by approximately 30-60% every decade. ". That feels like a completely arbitrary estimate? I don't see any reason why that would be the case
I have studied hundreds of games from the era. 30-60% holds true. It happens for a variety of reasons, however, as was mentioned previously.
There is a post below the one I made that pulls info on 30 year old pins that states only 5-10% remain...you will find that is right in line with the 30-60% declination per decade.
Nothing is finite, and (as I mentioned) there is no way to 100% "prove" the numbers, but those estimates hold for pins of that era.
You may "feel" that it is arbitrary, but I would implore you to go study production numbers, sales ads, owners, wanted ads, auctions, repair questions, reproduction playfield and backglass info, sold listings, repro ramp/target info, repair guides, etc for a minimum of 300 pins across various websites, social media forums, databases, and auction sites and then get back to me with your findings.
Quoted from zacaj:Sorry to keep being off topic but:
I've seen that claim posted before, and I laughed at it then too... Random sampling suggests just the pinside owners count for games 30 years ago surpasses 5-10%, and as already noted, that's an extremely conservative number.
saying 30-60% are lost each decade also seems impractical. Maybe that number happens to match up now, but there's no way the losses stay consistent decade to decade. A majority of machines lost were most likely lost within the first few years as they were taken off route and junked, losses would have been way lower afterwards, and I'd bet they drop off even further as more games get into collectors' hands. Even then there's so many factors at play beyond just general attrition due to different events in the industry, etc.
Not to mention that 30-60, when compounded over a few decades results in a range of like 1-20% remaining. That's a giant margin of error, and so of course it lines up with the random 5-10% estimate. You could as easily state a flat rule "less than 20% of games survive 40 years" and be just as accurate. Do you really think that in 10 years half the games that are registered on pinside now will have been destroyed?
You are missing the point and not reading what I actually wrote. I will PM you.

I messaged with her a bit to help her out. I gave my valuation if it "as-is," but i also told her it was a very good pin if she wants to try to get it working. I gave her some repair advice and some info/websites to get her started if she wants to.

Everyone please have a little fun with this JERKO. Has an Embryon for $2K listed. Has no displays working. I message him hey , I don't think this machine works? I do not see any displays lit up? Nothing else. He replies, thanks for the FREE diagnosis.
Have fun folks!!!!
Quoted from cottonm4:I asked him if he had better pictures. And if the back glass was flaking. And also asked if the displays worked.
We'll see if he replies.
I messaged him to ask if it boots up at all and if i can get pics of the boards.

Quoted from Flancrest_ent:Anyone have good suggestions for starter project for a teenager? Looking to buy a project for my son for the summer. Figure gives him something to work on rather than stare at the Xbox. Figure $500 cheaper than summer camp (too old anyways) and gets him interested in electronics and sense of accomplishment (if) he gets it working.
Trying to find a fairly simple machine to work on, want to at least try to set him up for success! Any suggestions appreciated. We’re in southern NH for what it’s worth. Thanks!
I've got 6 projects if you are looking. Bally viking, bally flash gordon, stern magic, stern flight 2000, and 2 stern meteors.
Quoted from bluespin:I haven't heard from Slogan1111 since he told me that he was second in line.
Technically Pennsylvania is part of the Mid-Atlantic, but to us Southerners, anything north of the Mason-Dixon line(Virginia) is "North." I'll try to get up to Pinfest this summer. If I do I can avoid meeting Colsond3 at Pinfest for the third time.
My father in law thinks that anyone north of Austin is a "yankee." His words, not mine.
Quoted from Rougarou:Not sure if this will get some hate on this thread or not:
I love this thread for what it is and the help that others provide but I have a hard time posting everything I find as we are all wanting to get the great deals. No secret that it’s usually the first one to get there with cash to score some great deals from FB or CL.
I would have happily driven to GA for that Black Knight but I know there’s no way someone won’t have that pin in their car within a couple of hours of posting.
I am interested in building a smaller group (inner circle?) of people who would be interested in texting to share good deal finds quickly, and have everyone play nice to only go for ads for pins in their areas. When I’m actively looking, I may check FB and CL every 30 mins-hour because those who know, know that that’s what it takes to score the deals that most people never see posted because they get sold so quickly.
Maybe this is selfish and will bring other selfish pinheads together to create a monopoly? Maybe we could all be happy when our other inner circle members find a great deal because we know ours will come at some point too?
Anyone have any advice, thoughts, or words of caution on this mindset or approach?
I run a FB page called No parts No trades pins under 3k.
That is a great place to look.
I am also generally a phenomenal person to ask about known sales, projects, and upcoming pin sales. I almost always have pins and arcades for sale, and I 100% of the time know where to go for good deals as well.

Beware: about 99% of the posters on Mr. Pinball are scammers.
Quoted from Skidave:That is exactly where I'm headed to tomorrow for a work project. Interesting...
Great pin. You should contact him
Quoted from Skidave:Yes, would like to add one to my collection. Wife isn't thrilled about the price.
It is a highly desirable game, priced below market value, ready to play, and it's just tons of fun. It looks great, has that play it again quality, and it is definitely challenging. System 11 games are well made (easily the best of their time era) and easy to work on. Pinbot is THE GAME most people they think of when recalling mid-late 80s games.
It is also in the movie "Big"
If all else fails...remind her that these go up in price, so it is more like an investment.

Quoted from cottonm4:Did you get to see Rick or Big Hoss? Shake their hand, maybe .
Is there anything special about it or does it look like all the other crapped out pawn shops I frequent.
None of the people you would know from the show were there. I asked around, and apparently they very rarely come in. Makes sense, I suppose.
It has many more high end items than any pawn shop I've ever been in. Rare art, ancient coins, etc. Mostly collectibles, and not any lawn mowers or tools, lol.
They do also sell a lot of the show's memorilbilia, like t-shirts, coins with the old man's face, etc.
I almost bought a Salvador Dali...but I don't know how I would have taken it on the plane.
I would recommend it just for the experience... especially if you have watched the show much.
Quoted from Irishbastard:Ahh the old, wish you were closer.... I'd take them, then spend ten years seeking the heads.
Quoted from pinostalgia:And when you don't take them, the heads pop up on Craigslist two weeks later
Quoted from pinostalgia:It never fails, Everytime
The messed up thing is...I know where the heads are, but the seller hasn't responded to me in MONTHS. It is frustrating.
Quoted from ForceFlow:You would think they would want them out of the way.
Hopefully they haven't thrown them away
Do offers of cash go unanswered?
I have offered cash and he could leave them outside. I have made all types of attempts. Nothing. I hope he didn't pass away...
I will be listing 3 pins soon.
A really nice bally spectrum. It is a project, but would be a great example for a collector
A bally viking project. It looks complete, but needs some board work and going through.
A beautiful T2 with the diamond plate playfield. I believe it is HUO. Not a project.
PM me if interested.

Well...now I'm curious about the collection as well!
Quoted from craif:It looks like 4 of these are still there and got reposted a month later. Price came down a few bucks on 3 of them. The list of machines in the ad text still lists the jack in the box as well but probably just a typo.

Not me. I bet it was Harrison or Will. Those guys get everything...lol
Quoted from undrdog:1979 Bally Paragon in Arlington Texas.
Ad is on offer up. $400
Cabinet is nice. One side dirtier and faded than the other, but nice.
Art is coming off the glass in a few places, but could be glued back down.
Electronics look pretty good. A bundle of wires had been cut and repaired with black tape. One fuse probably burned. One loose wire to the transformer cage.
Doesn’t boot up. Displays look clean, but they didn’t light so no telling.
Playfield has a wear divot center of both slingshots, and a small one upper right pf. Plastics are all there and nice. Pop caps only a little toasty.
Many inserts sunk, but look ok.
Only reason I didn’t get it was because fixing the pf is beyond me and the defects are deep enough to affect a slow moving ball. Probably should have grabbed it anyway.
I can't find it to save my life. Do you have a link?
