COFFEE TABLE ALERT - If you are thinking about making a coffee table out of a pinball machine and think you are cheap...this guy has you beat. No cabinet, no playfield inserts (robbed), and shrink film to "Protect" the coffee table top. Wow!
Manufacturer: Stern
Game/Type: Meteor / SS
Year: September 1979
Production: 7,939
Cost: $290
Location: Crosby (Houston), TX
Link/Contact: houston.craigslist.org link
OP: Pickup in Crosby tx
Please read before contacting me.
This is s one of a kind table. Its the main board from a pinball machine. The top is from the pinball game called METEOR. It has most of the lights and wiring as you can see from the photo of the bottom. It has 3 hairpin type chrome legs.
It has a plastic film on the top at this time to keep it from getting scratched up.
Its 20"W x 42"L x 29"t and would be great in a game room.
Me: captive_ball is this your coffee table for sale? LoL
[quoted image][quoted image]

I thought this Meteor had been talked about here but maybe it was on the "pinball horrors" thread. That is a very nice looking Meteor play field and if I needed a Meteor play field to replace a blown out play field, I would consider this one to be gold. The seller popped some inserts that need replaced, it needs lightly touched in a couple of areas and a clear coat. I wish it was a Quicksilver play field.

The question are:

Was it underpriced at $325.00?

Is it worth $425.00?

#12246 4 years ago
Quoted from bluespin:

I haven’t done any woodwork in a long time, what kind of stain should I use?

I don't know. I would have to research it. Perhaps an antique type paint job would be the way to go. Depends on if you want it to match the rest of your furniture. If the rest of your furniture amounts to a house full of pins, and not much more, then I would say you have lots of options.

Interesting. Mary's Eager Beaver looks like the same EB in this pinside ad looking for a back glass. The white painted cab and the scratches on the cab look the same.

Damn it! How the hell did I miss this thing? Would fit right into my lineup. I’ll give you $300 and another bottle of bourbon for it.

Holy crap that wear!!

And the ugly bubbly back glass.

#12290 4 years ago
Quoted from frunch:

Forgive me gentlemen, i thought i was posting to the project pinball thread.
All i know if it that was close to me I'd already be driving it back home. Is $300 really too much for that?

Well, most of the wear is in the black area. That could be touched up fairly well by an amateur. A pro could do real good at it. The back glass sort of goes along the the lines of Ron White: "You can't fix stupid."

OP: 1966 Williams 8 Ball, needs work. Plastics are warped and will need to be straightened or replaced. Lights up and plays, score reels seem to work ok. A few switches don’t register currently. Backglass is in decent shape, playfield is ok with some areas of wear but not bad for a 1966 machine. Prior owner stripped the cabinet and stained it, could be left as is or primed and painted.
Good start to a project and a machine you don’t see very often!

I about had a heart attack to see 4300 on an 8-Ball. Then I saw it is $300.00.

#12481 4 years ago
Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

Wow and what a surprise, it’s ugly as sin.

Buy it and put it back together. Looks like all the parts are there. It was produced in 1946. No production numbers. Pinside does not even have it cataloged.

In the last 73 years I would guess there were many days, weeks, months where this thing could not have been given away. That we even see it all is a miracle.

image-1 (resized).jpgimage-1 (resized).jpg

Oh yeah, if you have never seen inside one of these old time boat anchors, the wiring will give you a heart attack.

#12483 4 years ago
Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

I was trying to figure out how it went together, that’s interesting! So the shelf portion hasn’t been modified too much, the cabinet acts as the legs. How peculiar!

Those legs are closets----for all the wiring!

#12487 4 years ago
Quoted from bingopodcast:

I own one of those - admittedly, I have converted it to a game that can play multiple one ball horserace games (https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/multi-races-the-multi-one-ball-horserace-game), and mine was in nowhere near that nice of a condition to start (hand painted cabinet, clear window backglass). That said, I can tell you for sure that this is a fun game. It is far simpler than later one ball games, and the wiring is drastically simpler as well. The wiring in fact is almost 100% behind the backglass. Only a handful of units and a small control unit/motor.
The payout mechanism is the most complicated thing in the lower cabinet, and most of that is circuitry to prevent overpay.
The weirdest thing is the manual baffle bar - once you put in a coin, it unlatches the large central bar to reset the baffle. The game will not cycle your coin until you press that baffle. Every game following, I think, contained an automatic shuffle, and this was Bally's first game post-war.
That backglass is so vibrant and cool. Lots of little details.

Cool. You could buy this one and get a much nicer back glass.

Bally Big Valley for sale.

These don't come around very often.

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/for-sale-big-valley-1

#12957 4 years ago

I have some questions:

Of all of these project pins that have been moving around the country, how many have been put back together and are now up and running?

How many have just changed hands and are sitting folded up in a different corner in a different house? Rephrasing the question: How many of these project pins are in pinball purgatory and just living in different houses as they get passed around from basement to basement or garage to garage.

How many will we see ads for that say," I'm selling this pin. I have too many projects right now."

I have a pin folded up in a corner of my house. It will be at least 2 years before I can get to it. And I could decide sell it as a project in the meantime.

I'm not knocking this thread. I'm just curious of how large pinball purgatory might be.

Thanks for posting this. I ended up snagging it. Backglass is mint and cabinet has like 2 dings. Playfield is dirty but looks like it should clean up. I think there's typical ball swirls but there isn't a game that doesn't have those from the era.
It's currently not working. After it's shopped and fixed I'm definitely open for trades on other rare games. In particular a Zaccaria Robot. If anyone has that or something else interesting and wants a really nice Voltan.

I got beat out of a Farfalla up here a few weeks ago. Did you have any competition for buying the Voltan?

Quoted from hazmat7719:

I contacted them days ago, they are not ready to sell yet. It also seems that they are taking offers, not $50 as advertised. I was willing to take a chance at $50 to possibly salvage the coin doors. You have not been keeping up with prices for lockdown bars and transformers. Both of which were in that pile.

I was lucky enough to grab this one. Seller took a deposit and I’m picking it up Soon.

Don't even worry about getting it running. While it is apart you have a great opportunity to get it cleaned and spiffed up. Getting it running is not going to take that much.

Play field looks like in good condition. The Nine Ball rack does not look worn !!! Looks like a nice back glass.

You are in at a good price. The transformer wire has been cut. It will take little to get the transformer wired back up. Don't even mess with the rectifier board. Get a new one from Weebly or get his rectifier kit.

Nice score !

According to IPDB.org:

https://www.ipdb.org/search.pl?any=jokers+wild&search=Search+Database&searchtype=quick

Your only choice is a Sonic Joker's Wild. It has a nice looking play field. There is a Sonic Pinball Club on Pinside. If you don't go for it, you might consider linking the Sonic boys to this one. If it is a Sonic and not a Bally flipperless mahcine.

Why not, I guess. It looks like someone either is cleaning out a house or was given the machine. I will swing by and take a look, probably leave an offer of a hundred bucks or so depending on the playfield (backglass looks ready to peel away to nothing) along with my number if he ever comes across any more. Never hurts to network, i have gotten a couple machines from someone who empties houses for a living.

Make sure you look inside and then hope the parts laying on top are extras and not from inside.

A nice orig. 1960 LP Special - maybe $8K to $15K??

Yes. its up there somewhere. I would only want it if I could get a bargain Sometimes with estate sales you get lucky.

#13870 4 years ago
Quoted from FatPanda:

With these estate sales, do you just show up and "get in line"? Is it an auction format? It it like a glorified garage sale? How does it work?

The seller sets the rules. Around here they do a lot of 3-day sales.

On day 1 the prices are up there to tray and catch the gotta-have-crowd. On day 2 the prices for what is left may be marked down 30% or 50%. On day 3 another mark down happens.

If you really want something be there early and stand in line. Then be ready to pay up if you just have to have it. Or take your chance and wait for day 2.

I went and looked at a Farfalla for someone who contacted me. I was the 2nd person in the door. As I was looking the pin over for flaws to advise my buyer about, the seller walked up to the pin and pulled the price tag from under my nose, saying “this pin is sold.”

A kid had driven 80 miles to BUY this pin. And while I am looking it over, he is telling the seller that he is ready to pay Day 1 asking price.

Quoted from Daditude:

I always thought this sentiment was amusing. People act like it is bad to re-sell a pinball. Essentially everything you have ever bought in your life has been "flipped."
What's the criteria? They sold it too quick? They made too much profit? They didn't fix it up enough???
People do these things everyday to every product we have all ever purchased. What do you think Walmart and Amazon do??? Heck... eBay made a fortune on other people doing it for them!!

Quoted from ForceFlow:

The issue that with any cheap pin ad, there are a dozen people lined up for it, and most of those probably just want to fix it up and add it to their collection.
Instead, a flipper sometimes gets in line first for the game and grabs it, does nothing to add value to the game, and just jacks up the price just for the sake of making a buck. It does nothing for the game, nor anything for the pinball community.
Retailers have a supply chain of goods, so that's not really an apples to apples comparison.

I have to agree with Daditude. What is the criteria used to determine whether or not to get out the long knives?

Seems to me this type of venom for a flipper mostly happens when a seller underprices the pin and the flipper gets there first and locks the deal before the price sharks can get there and scoop the deal for themselves.

The pin is in Kouts, IN which is 2,127 miles from your house, just a little outside of your maximum pin road trip. I say go for it and stop at Chicago pinball Expo on your way back!
All kidding aside Bally had several pins with <100 made. They would send out prototypes to arcades to see if the public liked them as much as the current production pins. If the pins were unpopular they were never mass produced. In other words that Double Up May be rare, but because it isn’t fun to play

I agree. The play field looks like it shares a lot with King Tut, which I have read is no fun to play at all.

Quoted from Pecos:

Four months ago I wrote:
"'Red Flags.'
I don't look at Craiglist for pinballs anymore. I don't have the money or the room for more pins. But for some reason I checked the Tucson Craigslist last night and found a game on my wishlist, Flash, in Tempe, that I have been wanting for years. It was a Project Pin but priced right, too right, at only $300.
Red Flag - Yellow Flag #1: Priced well below market value. I should change this to 'Yellow Flag' because I have found some amazing under-priced Project Pins here in Arizona.
The ad had been up for eight hours already so I was expecting it to be sold already. But I replied to the ad by email and to another ad that he had for a Silverball Mania.
I received two emails in the morning saying 'I do' which was rather bizarre since I wasn't asking if he still had the machines. I was offering to buy them.
Red Flag #2: Email answered with what seemed like a canned reply, as if he hadn't even read my email.
One of the ads had a phone number so I called him up and told him that I was looking for a Flash. I told him that I was driving from Tucson and would he hold them for me? I offered $100 more than he was asking for the two machines. He told me that he couldn't do that and that he had someone there wanting them/it. I told him that I had to go to my Credit Union to get the money.
Red Flag #3: Telling me that he had someone there but the games were still available?
I offered to put $100 in his Paypal account if he would hold them for me. I wasn't about to drive almost two hours to Phoenix to find that he had sold the game(s) to someone else. I have learned that this promise is important!! He told me he didn't want that!
Red Flag #4: Why wasn't he willing to work with me? I was offering more than he asked? I was offering a down payment, sight unseen.
Red Flag #5: I got the feeling that he wanted several people to show up so he could have a 'Flash Auction', pun intended.
I then asked for his address and he told me that he would text it to me after I had the money in my hand. Huh?
Red Flag #6: What kind of games were this seller playing? Why wouldn't he give me his address? Why did I have to waste the time to drive to my Credit Union?
I went to my Credit Union. I really wanted Flash. It is one of the games in the great early Williams solid state games trilogy. I already own Firepower and Black Knight.
I called J**** again and told him I was at my Credit Union. He told me that someone was coming to look at Flash which seemed to contradict his earlier statement that he had a possible buyer already there. I told him that I wasn't coming up to Tempe until he accepted or declined my offer. He told me that it was probably better that I not come then.
Apparently this was a 'cash in hand' seller. Or was he looking for more money? He has the right to accept or not the offers that come his way. But what was with all the games? I did not take money out of my Credit Union and I did not make the hot drive to Tempe. I have no hard feelings, sometimes Craigslist sales go like this and I am certain that I made the right choice by passing on this rather strange Craigslist Project Pin opportunity."
And then after @vec-tor mentioned that it read like Dr. Seuss I felt like having some fun so I wrote this to summarize the whole sad affair:
"I do not like to Tempe hike
I do not like to Tempe bike!
I do not like it in the rain
I do not like it in a plane!
I do not like to go by truck
Arriving safely is but luck!
From the pictures you must guess
Whether or not there is a mess!
Up to Tempe you must dash
If you want to get the Flash
Don't forget to bring the cash!
If you want my address to know
To the bank you first must go
Let me know when it is so
Only then will I let you know!
Mania of the silverball you have, no?
Up to Tempe you must go!
Your love for pinball means
Higher prices for my machines
But only if you're first, it seems!
Best of luck on your quest
I do not this say just in jest
Bring the most to be the best
I like Benjies in my vest!
And don't bring Old Pueblo 'tudes
We don't like no Tucson dudes!"
All's well that ends well, so the saying goes and today all ended fantastic! I got my #flash! It's a real beauty.
[quoted image]
[quoted image]

You can see more of the pics here and the significance of why I wanted to add Flash to my collection.

Quoted from vec-tor:

O.K. Well, a Stern Quick Silver playfield just went for a hefty bit of change.
Deal or no deal? The playfield starting bid was O.K. but by the end it was no deal.
In all likely hood, it would have been cheaper to buy the game whole and complete.

Except that whole Quicksilvers are hard to find and pricey.

That Ebay play field was in pretty good shape. 6 months ago I would have said OK deal. But with Mirco reproducing Quicksilver play fields that dynamic has changed. Unless he is the artist. it will cost him almost as much to restore that play field as to just go buy a Mirco. He will need a plastics set and will need to find both a 3-bank and 4-bank drop target since the ones on the play field were stripped.

Today, you can buy:

New plastics from pinballrescue.net.................= $125.00

Third Coast Pinball wire harness.....................= $150.00 ( approximate)

Pinball Life
New pop bumpers ( not period correct).............= $150.00 per set

Flipper assemblies..........................................= $120.00 per set

Mirco play field...............................................= $800.00
==========================================
Sub-Total..............................................................$1345.00

Drop targets ( getting hard to find )
......budget $75.00 each..........................................$150.00
==========================================
Total....................................................................$1495.00

So for, $1500, you can buy everything you need to assemble a complete working QS play field. Bulb sockets and incidentals have a price but I I'm not going there. You will have replacement pop bumpers but not the nice original plastic pops.

The Ebay unit sold for $910.00 plus $70.00 shipping ........= $980.00

Needs plastics...............................................................=$125.00

2 new flipper assemblies.................................................=$120.00
============================================
Sub-Total.....................................................................=$1225.00
==============================================

Play field restore charges ???....$600.00 minimum ?? ...........$600.00

Drop Targets ???...............................................................???????
============================================
Total...............................................................................$1885.00

With Mirco play fields now available, the Ebay sale was not a great deal.

In both cases, you will still need a donor pin for a cabinet and back box.

To restore the Ebay unit, you will need to strip everything from the play field. With a new Mirco, all you have to do is install everything for less labor involved.

Of course, one can argue that both setups of the above are overpriced, especially when compared to some other pins prices. But that would be another story.

OTOH, if all you wanted was player pin, with some minor work, this play field could be dropped into a cabinet with new boards or a ROM change and you are playing.

#14510 4 years ago
Quoted from vec-tor:

Yup... and if you did that... and spent that kind of money... it would be cheaper to just
get a good working game.

These two sold on a $5,000.00 OBO basis. I have no idea what the final price was. But I would guess above $4,000.00.

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/for-sale-quicksilver

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/for-sale-quicksilver-1

This one went for $5,000.00 in less than 24 hours.

https://pinside.com/pinball/market/classifieds/archive/71195

The pricing is nuts; Not gonna deny that. I started out with buying something similar to what sold in the Ebay auction. Only my play field as worse. Still, when I am done, I will have a cherry Quicksilver for way less then the three prices above.

I know where there is a QS with a near mint play field. The guy was going to sell and then backed away. It was part of his dad's collection and his dad died in 2000. The pin has just been sitting.

I also know where there is a populated play field in mint condition with very nice plastics. I thought I had it bought but at the last minute the seller changed his mind.

There was one on Mr. Pinball for sale somewhere in Kansas a couple of weeks ago. $5,000.00 was the asking price and no condition description was given.

That is the Quicksilver market.

Gutted 'King Tut' cab and head.
Just the cabinetry, but looks to be a low numbers title, and in decent condition at at.
If it was a higher production game, and lower price, I might have gone for it for a homebrew concept I'm toying with.
But looks too nice and rare for me to do that.
-Hans

Hans,

Lessons on how to get buried in a pinball machine:
=================================

The gutted cab lives in Merrill Iowa. You could leave your home and pick up the gutted Tut cab which looks to be in good condition. From Merrill you head east southeast to Peoria Illinois. Pick up the Tut that is still together. Get home and choose the best of the two cabs to put together then sell the weaker of the two cabs for someone else's project.

For you: 530 miles one way. Gas. Motel for one night. Highway food--or fill your cooler with sandwiches.

Sometimes I get itchy for a road trip. I just want to get on the road with no particular place to go. Just to get away from the old lady and the bill collectors

I don't know if I would do this for a King Tut (but it sure is pretty), but I have road tripped way farther than 500 miles and picked a cabinet and then drove another 90 miles farther and picked up a populated play field and put the two together. OTOH, if I lived in your town, chasing a deal like this would be tempting.

The pin has been up for 9 days. I doubt the seller is fielding very many phone calls on this pin. He might get "offer friendly" real quick.
peoria.craigslist.org link

The cab has been up for 3 days. I doubt a visual pinball person would be willing to pay $200.00 for a cabinet that he has to make a road trip for. This seller might get "offer friendly", too.

siouxcity.craigslist.org link

Make on offer on the pin. If you can get the pin locked down then make an offer on the gutted cab. If you are lucky, you could get the cab on the same trip. At worst, you come home with the full machine and no gutted cab. But the gutted cab is only 90 miles from you so if you made an offer and it was accepted, you could leave home and be back in 4-5 hours.

You would be saving a rare pin. And it sure is pretty.

I would like to have this but personally think its priced to high.

He does say $750.00 OBO. If you did not read the ad, $150.00 of Pinball Pimp stencils are part of the sale as well as some of the paints.

#14815 4 years ago
Quoted from Mathazar:

The horror.....the horror....
On the other hand, if this really is a functional machine, the cabinet is structurally sound, and could be picked up for around $200, this would be an excellent project to return to Mata Hari glory. A $300 hardtop would take care of the disgusting playfield (what the hell were they thinking with the BLACK paint??), a $150 stencil kit from Pinball Pimp and $40 of Krylon takes care of the cabinet, and a $300 repro backglass from CPR rounds out the major investments. If I was closer, I might've made an offer.

Exactly. For the right price, it is a diamond in the rough.

Assisted living, in most cases, just means the end is not that far offAnd if you really liked to play your pins, you will probably feel like you died when the cold turkey slaps you with a wake up call of "game over".

But going into a nursing home? You might as well be dead. Those places are misery.

Quoted from Mathazar:

OP: Condition is Used but great! Owned 15 years. Everything appears to work! Left front leg is slightly damaged, pulling from cabinet.
Me: That's a bit of an understatement. Significant cabinet repair work needed there! $650 wouldn't be bad if the cabinet was intact and everything worked. And I gotta wonder...if the guy really has owned it 15 years, couldn't he be a little more assuring than "APPEARS to work"?

Actually, from the little bit that I can see, repairing that cabinet will not take all that much to repair. Putting that front panel back on, assuming there is no other damage beyond the front panel pulling away, would take 2-3 hours worth of time to fix. It would help to have a table saw.

I like Flip Flop. But I don't do EMs. If it were closer and was a solid state pin, I would not let that cabinet stop me. It is made of wood. You can do all kinds of magic tricks with wood. But shipping in this condition might be a challenge.

4. Plan on being at the sale an hour before the doors open and stand in line. If you show up just before the doors open the only thing you may leave with is a backache when you help a fellow collector (that got there earlier than you) load the pin in his suv!

This happened to me. A pinsider from far away asked if I could check a pin at an estate sale for him. The sale was 3 miles form home. I said sure. I got there 30 minutes early, milled around and talked to some other early birds. The doors open on time. I am #4 or #5 thru the door. I find the pin. I am looking it over, texting my "employer" on condition etc. I am looking at the pin for 4 minutes at most and the estate seller walks up, pulls the sale tag and said "this pin is sold".

I met the buyer. He drove 70 miles to buy thus pin. Before the doors were open he was going to buy this pin. helped him figure out how to break it down and helped him load it up. Be bought me lunch for my help. I"m cool.

Lesson learned: If it is a pin that I want, it will just be a quick glance to make sure all of the parts are there and then trot over to the seller and make a deal "right now" ! No looky looky first.

#15232 4 years ago
Quoted from bluespin:

I thought he was talking about the time that he went and looked at a pin for me.

Yours I got bought

I am talking about a Farfalla that was in my town. It had some flaking on the back glass. Some planking on the play field. Not something you buy blind for a 3rd party. The kid bought it. He got a good price because it was non-working. I helped him open it up. Yikes. There were no boards.

The pin was in a small room of the house, tucked into a corner with a table of dishes trapping it to the wall. We started moving stuff around to drag it outside. At the back of the table with the dishes we saw an open box with a board sticking out from the corner. As luck would have it, all of the boards were in this box. One of the boards was new, IIRC. We loaded it all up. The kid bought me lunch and left for home. About 3 hours later he texted and said he installed the boards and it fired right up.

I went back to the sale the following day for a closer look at items for sale. It was a nice house. The estate seller asked me how it turned out and was a little chapped for selling it so cheap when I said the kid got it running.

Yes. He sold it once earlier today with one bid. I don't know what happened with this. Maybe his buyer got cold feet.

But if you look deeper into his feedback you will see he has 27 feedbacks, all over a year old, and all are positive. To say he has 0 feedback is not correct.

If it was a pin I wanted I would not have been afraid to buy from him.

I had Captain Hook folded up in the corner and sold it to someone who was able to make it play. My buyer put it back together and has it working. CH has good game playing action. I liked it but I am not sorry I sold the pin.

Large pie. Small pie. It is all the same. I'll take one half and the rest of you can share the other half. And if it is a bigger pie you will enjoy it more and forget that I cleaned up.

#15772 4 years ago
Quoted from too-many-pins:

From my experience most guys with lots of money typically have taken advantage of other people to get it. Most of them are not truly happy and most wouldn't help someone else unless there is something in it for them.
I am not saying everyone is that way but from experience you shouldn't judge a book by the cover.

All true.

I grew up in a small town. All my relatives lived in small towns. Some were farmers who threw nothing away. Small towns with regular houses where one bathroom was the norm. Or maybe even an outhouse. Seeing a living abode like the Black Hole house is something I have visited in the past.

I worked for a rich guy for a couple of years. He was rich, married, and just a little lonely. I did not go to Grand Lake and R & R a roof on his cabin. It was his, "5,000 sq. ft. cabin, or it was not just his cobblestone driveway, it was his $35,000.00 cobblestone driveway. Everything had a number beside it. He always talked this "rich crap" to me because the other rich guy across the street was worth 10 times the money and would not have been impressed with a $100,00.00.

He was paying me $12.00 per hour as an independent contractor and all he could talk about was is his expensive toys. A little later he wanted to cut me to $6.00 per hour as an IC. I left and found another job.

From the annals of what I have learned through the years is the rich guys did not get rich by sharing.

Quoted from ss-pinball:

You're taking this personally. No I didn't look at the ads--either one. And I don't care.
It was a general statement about how it tends to happen:
someone jumps on a pin
takes it home
lists the pin with flowery and over-technical pin jargon that means almost nothing
they replace two dusty, crumbling rubbers
They add every spare LED they have to the easy to get places--just to get rid of them
looks at boards just to make sure that the batteries are from this century
Listed headline "Bulletproofed Documented HUO fully shopped pinball for sale $6k for my time"
OBO
If you aren't that guy, great. Awesome, even. My mistake. Sorry.

Why shouldn’t he take it personally? Around here being tagged as a flipper carries bad vibes and people start wagging their finger. Basically, the other poster and yourself accused the man of being a flipper without even bothering to take a look at his ad where he described all the things he did to this pin, such as remove and polish/tumble all of the metal parts.

Both of you ASSUMED flipper, did not bother to take the time to find out what’s true and would leave many with the thought he was flipping. Basically, it is called starting rumors someone would have to live down as you head along on your merry way.

If he took it personally I can’t blame him.

It sounds like he got hit hard.

I told him if he got it running that he could get more for it. I also said if he would put up better pics that he could do better. I asked him if it was still working would he still want to sell it.

I did not hear back from him. The ad is gone. I don't know if he changed his mind and will try to fix it or if someone tossed out an offer he could not refuse. And he sold it to someone else this morning after he agreed to hold it till Saturday. Oh well you can't win sometimes.

To give a seller the confidence to hold something, it helps if you offer to PayPal him some deposit money. Considering how many "buyers" never show up, and now considering all of the travel restrictions, most sellers will go with the cash that they can see.

You have to let that seller KNOW that you are really interested.

I bought a Craigs list project two years ago. The ad said "sale pending". I reach out anyway and said if the deal fell thru that I was a buyer. 2 days later I see the "sale pending" is removed. I sent out another CL email stating that I was a buyer, that I could do the deal in one day, PayPal the money etc. Call me. Text me. What ever.

On day 3, as I was fixing to attend a funeral, I got a text. The seller was a "she". She said she had a lot of contacts wanting this pin and she was trying to be fair and go in order, however, she said my messages to her were the only ones that sounded real; Her first deal fell thru; All the others were wishy-washy.

I was lucky that my sister-n-law lived about 10 miles from the pin. I had to have S-I-L hand deliver the $300.00 cash that day. 2 days later I was on my way to pick up.

If it is a pin you really want, you have to be very aggressive to make the seller understand that you back up your musings with CASH ! You have to be willing to assume some risk that your money might not come back to you with a PP deposit.

Quoted from Astill:

i am picking this up as soon as the border reopens.

I am curious. How is customs dealt with when a used pinball machine crosses the border? In either direction.

#16558 3 years ago
Quoted from bluespin:

Other Pinsiders have reported that bringing a pinball machine from Canada to US incurs no customs fees because it was manufactured in the US. Several Canadian collectors told me at Pinfest that they can bring back $800 USD of goods from US with no customs fees (per person). Anything greater value than $800 results in customs fees. They bring a receipt book and ask the seller to fill out a receipt stating that they paid less than how much they really paid (if higher than $800).
In this case the sell price is $550 so no customs fees will be due.

I had to pay customs fee to a Canadian retailer to get my Dragonfist out of Vancouver. That is why I asked. If I got hosed on that, I did not know it at the time.

#16561 3 years ago
Quoted from waltrr:

Bought a Target Pool out of Canada and got hammered in fees. The shipping with fees cost me more than the machine did.

When I bought mine out of Vancouver, I paid for front door shipping. When it got here, the local freight contacted me and said it was going to be $45.00 for them to make the last mile.

I threw them a middle finger salute, drove to their yard, unboxed everything and loaded up and brought it home. I called the retailer and the shipper he worked with but it did no good. And I was not to leave the pin in a freight yard while the shippers sorted it out. There is always some asshole trying to stick it to you.

A few dollars for some items - a little more for others - it all adds up pretty quickly. You also have wire lane guides and other little stuff. Then guys are paying $50 (or more) for stripped playfields for wall art (I typically give playfields away because I don't want to ship them).
So now for guys thinking I am making a killing on parts. An average machine takes me about 12 hours to part out and another 12 hours to list and ship the parts (including answering emails - etc). So about 24 hours of time invested.
As far as the money end of things: cost of machine, cost of storage, cost of packing supplies, eBay & Paypal fees, plus cost of fuel to go get machines all add up. Typically I can part out and list parts from two machines a week. Netting me about $1500 a week in parts sales. Cost of machines I part out and monthly overhead takes about 50% of that money, eBay & Paypal fees another 20% of that money leaving me with about 30% gross profit. So basically I make about $500 a week dealing with these parts when I am working at it more or less full time. Less than $10 per hour & hardly worth the effort. But I don't do it for the money - I do it to help people and to save "junk machines" from the landfill so all is good.

Thank you.

Around 2003, I started cleaning out the attic and selling the items on Ebay. I learned that I would have an hour of my time tied up in setting the auction up; take pics, upload them, write the copy, deal with lots of questions, locate a suitable shipping box, try to figure out the shipping cost, haul the sold item to the post office etc. I learned very quick that if something was not going to sell for more than $10-$15 that it was not worth my time.

I have a few pin parts laying around that have some value but are not worth the time it takes to sell them. But I will not throw them away.

I appreciate all that you do.

Quoted from Daditude:

I have a lot of parts and plastics I need to sell (Taxi, whirlwind, monster bash, sorcerer, firepower II, Williams system 7 mpu, sorcerer).
If anyone is looking for any of this stuff, feel free to PM me

I had a Williams Laser Cue for awhile. I seem to recall that system 7 MPUs (both boards) are getting rather hard to find.

Quoted from HHaase:

I'm with the other guys, that machine is in phenomenal condition from what I can see. Would make somebody a very happy purchase.

Quoted from phil-lee:

There was one advertised in craigslist NC I answered. The pics from this one looks the same. After the response I determined it was probably a scam. He said he wouldn't let just anybody have it, they had to prove they really wanted it and would keep it and fix it.

I had a Sonic Cherry Bell for a few months.

Three things:

1) Sonic's back glasses are super high quality. Mine looked brand new. No flaking etc.

2) The cabinet is made of some sort of particle board. People trash it for that. But the cab is solid as a rock. If it gets wet for any amount of time you will be sorry. But a ply wood cab that gets wet for any amount of time is trash, as well.

One nice advantage with this type of cab is that you never have to worry about a side wall warping. And they are a little more heavy.

3) Sonic has these great play fields. They are mylar, not clear coat. All of the artwork is part of the mylar. If anybody with a Sonic wants to verify, just disassemble a pop bumper and you will see the mylar gathered up under pop skirt. One mine, none of the inserts had raised or sunk in. It was a nice, flat play field.

I also had a Playmatic pin for a short time. It did not match the Sonic for quality of assembly.

#16826 3 years ago
Quoted from too-many-pins:

Empty playfields are fairly cheap to ship they only weigh a few pounds. FULLY POPULATED playfields weigh between 60 and 100 pounds and the box needs to be 48"x25"x10" (or bigger). Shipping an empty playfield is much different than shipping a populated playfield. USPS will not even ship a populated playfield (box size is too large and weight is typically too heavy).
Shipping a populated playfield is like shipping a third of a machine. And shipping something that big & that heavy doesn't happen cheap.
If you want to try something try packing a fully populated playfield for safe shipping - it is a ton of fun. I hate even trying to pack them to bring them to a show and doing that I am the only one handling them.

One thing that can be done, if the buyer is willing to pay you for your time, is to strip the heavy parts and the bulky parks from the play field and ship in separate boxes. It would not be much cheaper, and maybe cost more, but it makes things a possibility.

Or you build a wooden box and ship via freight. All depends on how serious the buyer is.

This is one of the cleanest EM's ive seen at one of these sales in a long time. Video of machine and closeups of playfield which looks like its in pretty good shape.

That's a nice looking Surf Champ. The seller has put up several pics. This seller is knows a little bit about pins, I'm guessing. Low ballers will probably be walked out the door.

I clued in a buddy of mine who has a good size collection with some on route. This has been on his wish list for a long time. He cast his line in the water and is waiting for a response. Hopefully he gets it, he will give it a great home.

I thought FG was hot pin. It is 190 miles from LA. 240 miles from San Fransisco. It looks to have a nice play field and nice back glass. $500.00. And it is still for sale. Unless it has sold and the seller has not taken the ad down.

Quoted from DakotaMike:

Ugg! Bidding is up to $1375 with two days left. Yeah, the playfield and cab are in nice shape. But we're getting into stupid money now for a Surf Champ. I don't get it. Do the bidder know something I don't?
Plus, if it sat long enough for the rubbers to rot away, who knows what else might be wrong with it. Yeah it plays on the video, but EMs are well-known to keep running even when they're partially non-functional.

Well, it is nice, but for that kind of money I have other things I would spend my money on

Quoted from Ceckitti:

I understand completely, and im not trying to stir up any shit. I was just curious because when I initially found the thread I assumed it was for games that were actual projects since thats how its described. I enjoy estate sales as much as the next collector. peace and love to everyone

Call it Mission Creep.

When I first started watching this thread, the pins being posted all seemed to be the antiques and beaters, needing a lot of work, for $1000.00 or less. And then one day, a $1000.00 pin hit the thread. And a lot of the sub-$1000 pins seemed to be drying up ( Sort of like eBay. Ebay started out with people cleaning out their basements and attics. Once everybody, like myself, turned their attic gold into cash, Ebay had to find a new game).

And then the estate sales were discovered and project machines sort of turned into possible good deals on pins.

#16927 3 years ago
Quoted from dasvis:

Damn I miss the early days of ebay - It was like the wild wild west. You could leave feedback for anyone, regardless if you bought or sold anything to them, you could make outside deals, cash sales, follow what people were bidding on & snipe them at the last second. you could sell or buy almost anything... lots of cool vintage stuff on there & it was cheap.
Now it's mostly commercial sellers & everyone private thinks what they have is worth a mint.

Oh god, yes. You can still snipe, though. Using Ebay's automatic bidding system is dangerous; Someone like me can come along and bid you up

Now, if I want something, I figure out what I want to pay and enter my price into a snipe tool. Either I get it or I don't and don't have to deal with those last minute pushes.

I have strange tastes, I admit it. At one time, you could buy human skulls on Ebay. There was one that came up for sale that had all of its teeth. I regret not buying that skull but the price was up there. And then Ebay shut the trade in human skulls down.

I miss those days, too.

#16931 3 years ago
Quoted from La4s:

cottonm4 Is there a specific sniping tool you recommend?

I like this one. I don't use it very often so I just take advantage of the freebie version. The difference between the pay for and the freebie is the freebie puts you in 20 seconds before auction end. The pay for lets you snipe up to 3 seconds before auction close.

Here awhile back I was trying to buy a needed part with Ebay's auction bidding process. It was bid at $20.00. It was a $30.00 part to me but I sort of needed it so I kept bidding. The bidding attracted more flies and the damn thing sold for $65.00.

A couple of weeks later another one of these parts came up for sale. This time I used my trusty snipe tool. I put in a $30.00 price limit and got the part for $15.00. It had $10.00 bid on and no action at all. I'm guessing the other bidder thought he had it sewed up. Oh, well. If he had put in a $30.00 bid it would have been his.

https://www.auctionstealer.com/

I think it will let you bid one up to 3 auctions in one month with the freebie.

I can't, it's at my father's house.
Ok, Sat morning.
Nah, have a wedding this weekend.
Ok , next Saturday. I will send you a deposit right now via Paypal.
Oh, weekends are good.
Ok, can I send you a deposit?
Let me get back to you after lunch.
Ok.....3 hours pass
How would I get the deposit?
Do you have a paypal account?
Yes, I do.
Ok I will send you $300 right now and have cash in hand for pick up.
2 more hours pass and Finally I just said forget it.

You should have told him some friends told you that this pin is a must have, you don't want to miss this chance and bump your offer way up. And then disappear.

#17038 3 years ago

This is a project. The asking price is a little bit out of the range usually gets talked on this thread. If it needs to be somewhere else, let me know and I will place it there.

I don't know anything about this pin other than I would consider it rare with 600 produced.

It has been up for sale for 14 days. I doubt his phone is ringing off the hook so maybe someone can get a better price. I think he is dreaming.

My friend operated a Bally Black Belt fresh out of the box...The game only lasted
a day... it caught on fire. Bally's first attempt at multiplexing flashers with solenoids.
He returned the game and got his money back. So if one came across this game
with melted plastic pieces all over the place.... yea.
Note: Karate Fight, German made by Bally subsidy.

TNT did a video on this pin. To watch Todd explain it, the pin looks like a fairly decent rule set that would take some time to learn. That could explain the low review ratings.

Here is some one playing one.

If I had any room, I would be tempted to check it out. I have no idea what is would be worth. Or even if it could be made working again, economically.

#17098 3 years ago
Quoted from HydrogenHuman:

That may explain why this person is selling it so cheap.

Production numbers are unknown. Nine pinsiders own one. Three want one. One was for sale for $800.00; Don't know if it sold.

Buy it if you are looking for a never ending challenge. I hate to say it but this one is coffee table material unless you win the lottery.

#17104 3 years ago
Quoted from HydrogenHuman:

I'm far too much of a newbie at project pins to take that machine challenge on, haha! I just wanted to point it out to anyone more experienced or willing to hunt for the parts.
I'm on the lookout for a "beginner friendly" project pin that may need some board components fixed, being shopped out, etc.
Something that I could gradually gain experience with and not be overwhelmed. Also something inexpensive so if I do screw up I wouldn't have burned a hole in my pocket, ha.

I would suggest you watch lots of videos on you tube to see how some that you are looking at will play.

It took me almost two years to educate myself on was out there. The delay paid off as I lucked out and have a room full of keepers.

There are a lot of stinkers out there that don't play well no matter what you do. Take your time. There are a lot of nice playing pins if you shop right.

PAPA has 37 pages of pinball action videos. There are EMs. There are early solid states, etc.

The 4-player version of the 2-player Satin Doll. It was a fun game at the tittie bar 40 years and 4 beers ago. I would not want it for an only pin.

#17251 3 years ago
Quoted from Adm927:

I messaged him about it, he said $1500 or best near offer. I laughed. Told him good luck. I was going to offer him $500

Don't laugh. Tell him that you have an offer in mind but that "we are too far apart. If your situation changes, please give me a call". But do not insult him with your offer.

You never know what might happen. He might call you after he has a lot of people laugh in his face. Some people do wise up when they see how the wind is blowing.

My girl friend sold her old 3/4 ton Ford pick up last summer. We had no idea what is was worth and some old pickups can bring the bucks. We were told it was a $5500.00 pickup. That's were we started it out on Craigslist. We got 4 or 5 calls and the ad sort of fizzled out. We had set the price too high.

About a month later I got a call form a guy 225 miles east of us. He had a rusted out POS that was his father's pickup and our truck had cherry body and bed with no rust. He wanted the cherry body and bed to restore his dad's truck.

He hemmed and hawed and was afraid to insult me with a low offer. I told him that no one has bought it at my price so I was obviously too high on the price and as for demand that he was the only game in town. Make me an offer. I want it sold. He offers $1500.00 and I said SOLD!. We did business the next day.

#17253 3 years ago
Quoted from TicTacSeth:

Well, it sounds like it was real, and I made good early progress, but it sounds like she got me and another person mixed up because she marked it as sold for me, we were scheduling pick up, then there was some not responding for awhile. So I gave my number and she called just now as she is at work. She said she thought I was already picking it up! So someone else was able to get the booking when it was supposed to be me, which sucks, and now I’m second in line. So imma gonna pray whoever’s car it is breaks down . If not, someone here owes me big time!

#17290 3 years ago
Quoted from Daditude:

It is high. Star race is rare, but it is just a so-so game. The other 2 aren't rare OR good.
Depending on condition(which I can't fully tell from the pics), these should be priced 1500 or less for all 3.

The best thing about Delta Queen is the back glass.

#17297 3 years ago
Quoted from Daditude:

They are not very valuable simply because a lot of people don't know about them (I.e. the demand isn't there). I do think it is one of the most undervalued games, however.
It is very rare. I would guesstimate that only about 50 still exist. It has an incredibly quirky theme. It has speech, an upper playfield, lots of drop targets, great artwork, a very interesting loop shot, and a 3 ball multiball. So...literally everything people say they want from a game of this era.
They cost about 1k fully working, but have rarity and very similar qualities to pins in the 3k+ range.
It is a very worthy resto project. If you are looking to sell, feel free to PM me.

From Stern's Meteor all the way to Orbitor 1, Catacomb and Split Second are the only two classic Sterns where there are no production numbers.

Stern produced 2,350 Lightnings which were produced right before Split Second, of which no production numbers are known. Then Catacomb was produced and there are no production numbers known. After Catacomb came Iron Maiden. Only 1200 units of IM were produced.

Nine Split Seconds are listed in the archived market place ads.

https://pinside.com/pinball/market/classifieds/archive?s=1&radius_latitude=37.675&radius_longitude=-97.32&keywords=split+second&ad_condition=0&machine_type=&ad_machine_manuf=&year_from=&year_to=&radius_distancekm=0&sort_by=ad_end_date&sort_order=DESC#results

45 pinsiders own one. 44 insiders want one.

https://pinside.com/pinball/machine/split-second

And one is for sale. In Wisconsin. The seller does not have his collection displayed. So, 45 pinsiders plus 1 = 46 known to exist ( on pinside )

Quoted from Mikespinball:

I just don't understand this. Just because you're not caller "1" why ruin it for the lucky guy that is. We all watch different outlets hopping for a good deal, sometimes a great one and when it comes its awkward when you arrive to pickup the machine and some other pinball collector has spewed his opinion on the seller. If I am not the first caller I just give the seller my name and number and ask if the buyer does not show to give me a call. Call it a day and maybe I'll be lucky on the next one!

Looks to me you did not read what Chrispin wrote. He was the 1st caller. And made a deal for more money that the seller was asking. The seller said SOLD. And then the seller turned it into an auction. The seller did not give Chrispin the chance to even match the $1400.00. Do I hear $1500.00? I got 15, now 16, now 16, and 17, now 17, and now 18. ....

Just missed out on a Batman Forever locally that sold for $1,500. Guy posted it on CL asking for any offers. Said machine had been stored in his garage for 2 years and no longer worked. It would turn on, but DMD all garbled and would not start a game. Easy fix, I thought to myself. Reached out to him, but said someone had already jumped ahead of me and was coming to look at it with an offer. Sold in less than 15 minutes.

They only thing I see around here on CL anymore are either overpriced pins, or more frequently, WTB pinball adds. The WTBs are every where.

What is sad about those is both look pretty decent from what I could see in the pictures. I don't mind people "making art or furniture" out of old pinball machines if they start with "junk" but wasting something nice on a coffee table really seems like a shame!

Prices are such nowadays very few pins will be out out to pasture. Any pin now that is a basket case is now a source of parts. That said, I do have a real nice Hot Hand play field that I don't think there is much market for. It could make good coffee table but I'll probably just hang it on the wall.

Given that I need to move machines in and out of the house and down about 6 stairs what the best hand truck/dolly to buy? I would say that I will pick up another one or two in the next year and they will go in the basement. I see myself occasionally trading one as I feel the need to refresh the lineup - and or pick up new projects from this thread.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Quoted from ss-pinball:

There was a discussion about how to skin this cat a few days ago...some guys take off the head and do that separately, then take out the playfield and glass and then do the cabinet by itself. Might be easier to handle that way by yourself on a cheaper appliance dolly.
Of course the easy answer is to buy a large, walk out ranch so that you can easily move your pins on a hydraulic pin cart and not monkey around with steps.

Iron Maiden is a Spike pin. It is easy to remove the back box on Spike pins. Only a 2 or 3 cables need unplugged. The pivot brackets can be unscrewed from the back box by removing 4 bolts. And there are 4 bolts on the back of the back box that help attach the back box to the cabinet. When you drop the pivot brackets, place some cardboard between the brackets and the cabinet to protect the cabinet.

EDIT: While removing the back box can be done by one person, a helper would be nice to have around.

Should I bring one of those plastic covers for mattresses or anything to cover the machine? Any other suggestions?

You are going the right direction. Get a roll of sheet plastic at the big box store. Any sheet plastic ( like mattress plastic) that is big enough to completely cover the pin to keep it dry. Get some of the cheap duct tape. Pull the plastic tight and lock it in place with the duct tape.

There is a pinsider that lives in Wasilla. Can't remember his name, but he is into the classic Sterns as I recall.

That sounds correct.

Thanks! I wasn't trying to take advantage of someone. I offered 800. BG is flaking and coin mechs and the hardware that holds them is missing so I will put a good bit of work into this one.

At $800.00, you still made a great buy. Bask in the glory.

When you are done you will probably be all complete for less than $1500.00, unless Alaska shipping sticks it to you.

Me: I need a system 80b cabinet for my tx sector restore, but sadly this one has separation in the front. Is that an easy fix?

Hard to say just what it would take to fix this with that picture, but just going by that it is fixable and I don’t think it would take too much to fix.

You might need a couple of bar clamps to make it happen

My co-worker bought one of these new and wants me to take it for $100, I said- "youll pay me $100?" lol Are most of the parts on these the same as the full size machine (except the digital displays)?

The sling shot brackets and the pop brackets are a little shorter. That makes the plungers shorter, too. IIRC, the Captain Fantastic I scrapped had some sort of particle board for the play field.

I see what looks to be a nice condition High Speed play field. Great for a HS restore.

I wish I could snag some coffee tables that are using some classic Stern play fields.

Losing that head was the best thing that ever happened to that PF.
$200 is harsh, but if someone with a Super Spin did a PF swap it would be worth it.

Agreed. When it can't be played it cannot get worn out.

Finding a back box with the right set up for the score reels might be a challenge, but BG Resto makes the back glass.

Or if you have one that needs a play field just swap everything into the better cabinet.

1352 units produced.

The back glass looks pretty good. Most pics I have seen on SD are a flaky waste.

Quoted from Mathazar:

Any success I've had at an estate sale has always been on a Sunday (i.e. the last day). Most items in the sale are 50% off on the last day which, of course, means the prices are inflated on the previous days. If it sells before the last day, somebody paid too much and you're better off without it. Last year I picked up two working-but-rough SS Mata Hari's for $400 and $450 and a non-working Black Jack SS for $100. Flipped one Mata Hari and refurbished the other two pins (and they're still in my collection).
The challenge with that strategy, tho, is the estate sale organizers almost never call you back to confirm the pin is still available on the last day which means you've got to get there really early on that last day....if it's still there, you'll want to be first in line. In the half dozen or so estate sales I've done, the organizers (when they answer the phone) won't take a bid for you. All the ones I've been to have been by the same local organizer, so maybe that's just their policy and other estate sales people will do that, I don't know.

It all depends on how hot the pin is that is being sold.

I had an out of state pinsider contact me about a Farfalla. The estate sale was 3 miles away and slated to open at 9am the following day. I got there ate 8:30 and stood in line. No one got in early. 9am was 9am. Period.

Door open and I am 2nd person inside. The pin is front and center. I am looking at it and texting pics to my interested party. The pin was not perfect. But if it was a pin that I wanted the defects did not bother me but I don't want to buy it with my contact "being blind". I/we never got the chance to move. As I am looking it the pin, the estate seller walked up and pulled the for sale price and said, " This pin is sold".

Some young guy drove 70 miles to come down and buy this pin. He had walked in, took once short glance and made his buy. He was the only other interested buyer and snatched it out of my hands, so to speak.

So, it if it is pin that you really have been wanting, or if it is hot pin in the market place, you may not get a chance to go for the last day discount price.

Looks like a nice play field if someone has a crappy play field and wants to restore their Aztec.

10,150 were produced.

39 Pinsiders want an Aztec

2 have been put up for sale on Pinside but no takers.

not exactly a high demand pin. And 5-6 years ago, this pin would probably only bring a couple of hundred dollars.

I don't see it as a great loss.

#18164 3 years ago
Quoted from bluespin:

Thanks for posting here nascarrey ! I picked it up for 50% off today, the last day of the sale. No rust on the coin door or on the underside of the playfield, and some flaking on the backglass, but it appears to be working 100%. It even came with a custom mod which explains my high score. Can you spot the mod? [quoted image][quoted image]

Nice score, BP. Gotta love those rubber bands. Now take them of and play a real game of Jacks Open

Quoted from bluespin:

As soon as I derust the legs, wax the playfield and remove the beautiful nicotine patina I will!

Every body has their way of doing things. For removing nicotine that feels like it is a permanent part of the pin, I used Zip Industrial Purple. But there is trick for best results. Get a sprayer, if you want. Take the play field from the cab. If you are going to clean the right side of the cab, lay it on its left side. Either spray some Zip on and let it sit for a few minutes or soak a wash cloth and let the Zep sit for a little bit. After it sits for maybe 30 seconds the nicotine will wipe right off. Maybe it needs to sit for 60 seconds. But don't leave it on too long and get the cab soaking wet.

You can opt to spray it on a vertical surface but it is more tricky because you wind up with tiger stripes.

You can buy it at Home Depot.

Be careful with this stuff. It is caustic to your hands and lungs. Were gloves ! and a mask! If you don't have mask then hold your breath. It does not give off any fumes so using it inside is OK.

Use it at full strength.

Wax trick: I use cotton balls. They allow you to apply a thin coat of carnauba. It is easier to control and keep the wax off of your posts. Or just use your bare hands. Throw the sponge applicator away.

Quoted from radial_head:

I literally cannot think of a more useless, dangerous, and completely insane use of a pinball machine.

Useless = subjective term. One man's meat is another man's poison.

dangerous = not if they are suspended properly.

Completely insane = subjective term. They look to be hung intact. I would be overjoyed is one of my grail pins was hung up like that, not being used, and very little wear on the play field.

Quoted from HHaase:

Tragically they are the ONLY 4 of that machine ever made.

Then I would assume they are aging gracefully. Some day they will be sold---and probably be in very good condition.

#18215 3 years ago
Quoted from zacaj:

Too bad a bunch of people will have missed their only chances to ever play them by then

There are a lot of pins I will never get to play. These are in Holland so I will never play them. At least, I would not bet my paycheck that I will ever play them.

That is cabinet bait for any one wanting a cab to build a Star Gazer, Seawitch, Quicksilver. I don't know what kind of transformer Cinema used but you got the cab, the back box, the coin door, and the lock down bar. And legs.

Here is what a Cinema looks like. From a pic from the internet.

The front of that Cross Town has seen better days, but that Mata Hari looks really nice.

But you cannot really see the play field and that back glass sure looks nice. I'm guessing the play field will probably look pretty good. Pinball Pimp and $40.00 or less worth of rattle can paint and the cab can look like new.

You don't even need Pinball Pimp stencils for that. Just a measuring stick and some painter's tape.
