Quoted from pinfixer:

Cabinets have no scuffs or scrapes. !

Look closer at The Shadow's head and CBW's rails by the buttons. I'd be surprised if these were HUO. Shadow's playfield looks pretty dirty too.

That said, HUO is a subjective term. You can still have thousands of plays on these sitting in that house for 25 years and if no one is cleaning them, they'll get just as beat up as a "routed" pin. All those terms are pretty silly if you ask me. Condition is king whether it sat at a bar and got wiped down/cleaned every week or in a house for 25 years without the glass ever being taken off, ya know?

Invitation to all EM fixers, restorers and Wanna Be's:

I am going through all the major parts of an EM and explaining them and what might go wrong. In this post, I share my method for cleaning and adjusting relays:

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/a-pecos-quiz-diagnosing-em-and-early-ss-pin-problems/page/4#post-5149435

I miss posting here, but I have two other threads to update and a small little thing called Pecos Pinball.

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/a-pecos-quiz-diagnosing-em-and-early-ss-pin-problems/
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/a-pecos-diary-my-journey-to-pinball-operator/

You are welcome to visit and participate if you want. If you are interested in becoming a pinball operator, have a gander at the second link above. It's a tell-all diary of my journey to becoming a pinball operator in Tucson, Arizona.

I have been watching this thread from the sidelines become a small community of helpful posters. I applaud you all! You guys are awesome!

I’ve followed the operator thread! I’d love to operate some day. Going to put one of my games out at an arcade soon!

Awesome!!

I started the thread to share everything that I experienced, the good and the bad, but mainly to encourage others to have a go at their own pinball operator biz. There have been so many hurdles along the way that I wonder if ANYONE would want to be an operator after reading the thread! But I love pinball and I love having my own business and I love the people I interact with so it is so much worth the time and effort.

@isochronic_frost, be sure to have some fun on your journey! I would love to hear some of your stories on the operator thread when you get your business started.

Just wanted to thank you for doing these EM threads my friend, I wish I had something to add to them. I have gotten pretty good at fixing EM's at this point in my pinball journey but nothing I could honestly distill into a coherent form aside from small bits here and there as issues arise.

Not really a project, but with an asking price of $1100.00 I thought I would go ahead and throw this one up.

It is a Gottlieb Target Alpha. It lives in Iowa. It has been for sale for sale for 20 days. Maybe the seller will make a deal.

Looks fairly clean.

Anybody want a shopped Bally Joust? $300. Cab was painted over black, PF glass has a crack in upper left corner, PF has some planking, BG is good but has some minor flake spots. Game plays, one score reel coil is locking intermittently.

I have new sheets of glass for the framed armor Bally games, so I could include a sheet for another $50. Cheaper than anywhere else. Looking to move it quick to make space. If not, it might have to go into storage.

We all wish we were closer…most of the time. Don’t really want to give this one up, but it needs a good amount of work on the cab and I don’t see myself getting to it anytime soon.

When I put games in storage, they commonly sit there for a long time, so I’m trying to avoid it these days and keep them out in the wild.

That's a good deal for a game that flips.

Daditude just buy it and do the Fastenal shipping. By the time I drive (gas) to pick up a game buy lunch or dinner for who rides with me to help I have easily spent a Hondo if not more.

Zipper Flippers are always fun and my kids really enjoy them. If it’s still kicking around by the time the York show hits I’ll probably be interested since I’ll be down that way. I bought a pin yesterday and had it shipped that my wife has yet to find out about.

The map shows a lake side house...so i'd have to assume that these were well maintained machines.....
Agreed, someone will end up with some nice games, hope its not a flipper!

Geist is where the wellest (sic) of the well-to-do live and play around Indianapolis. I saw a Star Wars from a lady who lived there that was filthy on the playfield, but just from not being cleaned. Once cleaned, the rest of the cabinet and game was like new. She said they got it from a pizza place after it had been there a year back in the 90's. They had owned it since then, but never did maintenance to it. There wasn't much wrong with it, just basic cleaning and such got it back and playing great. I'd bet that the Shadow has "endured" a similar existence.

Here is another teachers pet. Maybe a fellow pinsider can pick it up for you and ship it. I would if I was slightly closer. Or check with one of the Shipping guys like Bob Cunningham. He might be in the area to pick it up. I got lucky with him the other day. He was in the right place at the right time.

OP: Pinball/ Arcade/ EM Rifle
Buckaroo, Central Park, Cross Town, and GiGi.
All really nice and mostly restored.
Make an offer.
MARIO Bros. Arcade $750
Centipede $900 new ball track, panel, all work perfectly.

Me: I like the "make an offer" part

No experience needed. Bob Cunningham is one of the best and I would venture to guess the best prices. Forget the shipping companies and help the little guy. There is a lot of other positive feedback about him if you look through some of the shipping threads.

Valley old Chicago and Magnotron

OP: These are two vintage pinball machines. Both work. The Magnatron is from the 1950s. The "hole value" kicker in the middle works 80% of the time, but may need to be replaced for efficiency. The Old Chicago is from the late 1960s and has a humming sounds when it turns on. A cleaning tune up should resolve that. Otherwise they are in great condition and the asking price is $350 each.

Wow! I’m really tempted to buy this but I’ll warn anyone considering buying this:

1. The cabinets of this generation were silk screened. Jeff at pinball pimp won’t make stencils as the silk screened cabinets were too detailed to make a stencil.
2. Steve Young doesn’t have the artwork for this title. I already have a water damaged cabinet and I already inquired. That means that no one can easily make a cabinet decal for this game.
3. These cabinets were made with mdf, compressed sawdust, so any moisture causes them to swell on the edges. You can sand off the swelling, apply fiberglass and paint over the fiberglass.

Or do what I have done, throw the cabinet in the garbage, where MDF belongs, and just make a new one much sturdier and of high quality lumber like they deserve. I’m still working on the whole artwork half of it, and I’ve never tried silk-screened artwork but my best friend makes his own silk screens for t-shirts so perhaps his expertise can transfer over?
