Quoted from jaytrem:

Got it! Meeting was postponed for 15 min. It's a Sky Lab missing it's head. Must have burnt up on re-entry. Got a little wet, but not bad. The playfield is in real nice shape. May end up as wall art. Was a super quick pickup so didn't look it over that well. Will post pics later.
Thanks again to parzval and ibuypinballs for the heads up!

that's awesome! Wonder what happened?
Think they're worth following up with later?

Probably not. Can't believe they would bother to put it out and post a free sign on it and not bother with the head. Maybe somebody else took it and didn't want to deal with the cabinet (still had the legs on). I did email the craigslist poster to thank her and have the ad removed. I'll send another asking her to keep an eye out in case the head shows up on the curb.

too-many-pins Do you have a cabinet head for a Skylab or a head to an em with similar internal mechs?

I was actually wondering the same thing. I don't think so but I'll be moving a ton of stuff around over the next couple weeks so I will keep my eyes open for one.

Quoted from Ballypin:

That went FAST. Hopefully Nic nabbed it for the RPM.

I bought TNT's 1968/69 Bally Cosmos, as soon as I viewed the listing on Saturday, which was about 12 hours after it appeared on various pinball sites. TNT is only 30 miles from me. This project game has good bones and should clean up well. The original backglass is particularly nice. TNT's Todd Tuckey had a foreign buyer; but, chose to sell it locally to avert the shipping hassle. The sale was seemless and I had fun playing the games at TNT. Todd was very courteous.

I suppose that Nic and his museum will snag the next Cosmos which appears for sale on the east coast.

Meanwhile, I am seeking to buy an apron, plunger cover, and red flippers with raised lettering. One flipper is cracked and I'm unsure how well this apron will clean up in terms of the graphics. Here is the apron I'm seeking to replace, plus a photo of the playfield as found, the cabinet, and a photo of the well-preserved backglass.

Congrats on your Cosmos score !! The BG looks in amazing shape. I found mine in Boston last year and made a 2 day driving adventure (ala RyanClaytor ) to pick it up. I need to hit up Steve at BGResto and get a new BG for mine. That apron in lime green is similar to other Bally titles so finding a replacement may not be so difficult.

If you have not seen this Cosmos game review, check it out:

NicoVolta did score a zipper this week...he just needs the slacking seller to get East Bound and Down with it

The prior owner placed a redundant nail between the zipper flippers. I will have to repair the holes in that area with Bondo. Fortunately, there are no security bar holes on the front (photo attached) so at least that indignity was spared. The game came with original schematics and above-average correct legs, which is always a plus.

Todd recorded a video of the purchase. I imagine that he will post it on the TNT site, at some point.

I recently restored a Bally Surfers and Rocket III, two other Ted Zale zipper flipper games. Sold my '72 Fireball over a decade ago. I guess that I am on the zipper flipper train, at the moment.

OP: Glass intact, good colors. Able to turn on but not operating properly. Added new photos. Colors good but very dusty and some rust. Haven't used it in several years. Local pick up only. Make Offer.

This is spoken for and mine now!! Sadly when she said “some rust” it means I had to pry on the lockdown bar for literally 10 minutes to free it up in order to take a look under... it’s rough but I hope to bring it back.
It’s also got pretty significant moisture damage.
Such a gamble!

Here's a depressing thought....99.2% of the pins you want are located too far away from you to pick up. Of the remaining 0.8% within driving range, 78% are overpriced. So if I did my math right, you have less than 6 tenths of 1 percent chance of findiing and buying your next project.

Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Game/Type: Square Head /EM 1 player
Year: June 1963
Production: 975

Playfield has some minor wear and tear, touched up spots, all plastics and bumper caps present, new rubber rings, overall looks good with bright colors. Back glass is faded, missing paint. Game lights up and plays but needs to be gone through and adjusted. A very collectible/complete add a ball game that is similar to Egg Head, the Roy Parker artwork is very comical and fun. I’m curious as to why you feel this way. I’m not seeing hundreds of project games for sale in Georgia. Do you have a secret technique to finding projects in Georgia? If you do, send me a pm so that we can keep it a secret

You're not factoring in all the other buyers in the area who will swoop in before you can get to the game you want!

Don’t forget other buyers that travel from out of state to get that local game that you really want. About six months ago a friend drive five hours from TN to snake a deal on a Frontier in GA. The seller told me that I was second in line. I’m returning the favor and I’m picking up a project in TN next weekend.
