No way someone would be like "yep... Looks like a Jackson to me!"
That's hardly anything today. And people overvalue EVERYTHING.

Quoted from Cheddar:

A friend tried to pick up the pink panther. After being very sketchy about the whole process the guy texted him 5 minutes before he was to arrive and told him he did want to sell at that price.
Total d-bag

That's so rude. What a jackass. People have no respect or courtesy anymore :/

#3896 7 years ago

Updated listing!
I'm posting this because even though I'm considering this one. I really don't wanna drive way out there for this game. But he's gonna get rid of it and hell I'll suffer the journey for a good price to save a game.
Any pinheads in the area feel free to jump on it. Or maybe someone can meet me halfway?

It also comes with the paperwork and some bulbs. If you have any questions I'll try to answer them. You must pick this up yourself or have someone pick it up. I take cash or PayPal for payment. Price drop. That's as low as I can go. Someone save this machine before I give it a try and screw it up...lol"

SilverBallKid, here is one reason why the seller didn't respond to emails:
Condition: "Good condition. ...I am sorry for not responding to those who emailed. I have had a perfect storm of vacation and family illnesses. Please email again if you are interested and I will respond! Thanks!"

That's pretty funny, how rare that someone is actually aware of the distress their abandoned ad has caused us pinheads!
It's refreshing, I always appreciate people who actually maintain their ads and I too, try to tip a bit extra when buying, although I haven't bought any pins from CL, I've bought a lot of other great items!

#4114 7 years ago
Quoted from Pecos:

Thank you! Absolutely, Captive_Ball deserves a ton of credit for keeping this thread up-to-date and active. Thank you Captive_Ball for all of your help! But he is not the only one. At the risk of missing someone, as I'm sure that I will, there are so many others who contribute. ForceFlow recently posted a rare find in Ohio and a Pinsider, nikpinball, grabbed it. RyanClaytor has chipped in with ads from 'Mr. P'. Zacaj seems to have an uncanny knack for finding those super bargains that get snapped up in hours and not days. Matesamo has recently joined us and has posted many ads he has found in the northeast. And there are many others: RCA1, Philk, Radius118, Isochronic_Frost, rkahr, Wickerman2, NicoVolta, meSz, YeOldPinPlayer, and hoov. Those are just the Pinsiders who have posted Project Pins in the past month. As you can see, I get lots of help. I thank each and every one of you.
Golly Gee Whiz Guys and Gals, all of this praise has me... ...ing.

I really appreciate the mention! I've gotten that bug of just browsing ads and then sharing the great ones for other pinsiders! Living by proxy aha. I don't have the money or space for these pins, but I have a LOT of free time! It's nice to find them and then help someone else get a project they've been wanting!

~~~Pinsider DAVIDEOKILLS selling some projects.~~~
Link: https://pinside.com/pinball/market/classifieds/ad/42762
Please help with the burden of too many projects. I'm in limbo for at least another month till our new studio workshop is ready to move into. Take one of these projects off my hands. Prices extremely negotiable and trades welcome.
Black Jack(s) $500 for the pair
One complete game and one that is in boxes.
Fan-Tas-Tic $150
Missing a backglass and some minor parts (ball trough switch and maybe some coils).
Force II $500
Nice backglass and playfield. It needs displays and an MPU.
Fire! $1000
I stole the MPU to get High Speed going. It was working great but needs some new rescue plastics. It plays as is but has a lot of air balls.
Sheriff $200
I restenciled the cabinet and haven't been able to get back to this project.
Skipper $50
Haven't put any time into this one but the backglass isn't in great shape and it will probably need considerable work to get working.
Take the whole lot for $1800.
Is this the fellow who owns that business, is moving and was selling something like 30 pins? I believe it is and it's tempting me to drive out to Ohio
#4188 7 years ago
Quoted from Otaku:
Dear god, look in the background, I sure hope that's the photo of the place he saved it from and not his own place. (Pinball hell???) Regardless, may want to look out for water damage on this Egg Head as well:
Is this "Into the Maw of Despair"?!? That place is a disaster. Would like the know the story on the destroyed pin
#4204 7 years ago
Quoted from Pecos:
Welcome JAHpinWizard!
I saw that sad sight. It looks like a Williams and at first I thought it might be a Fun Fest or a Swinger based on the front cabinet. Close, but no see-gar! I wonder if it could be restored with a new cabinet??
Any idea what happened to it? I didn't snag any contact info from the ad before it was deleted and I'd totally buy even something that ruined. I'd patch up that poor, melted pinball!
Here's an old william's bowler It's pretty trashed and the guy wants more than it's worth, but I figured I'd post this just in case somebody is interested. Not a pinball but he would have better luck selling it if he worked it differently.
This looks pretty rough for $1900...
What's good price on it? I'm assuming a whole new cabinet and playfield will probably have to be made/acquired due to the severe termite damage. If I talked reasonably with that member what is a good price for it? DE Star Wars is a fun game and replacing the cab and playfield would workout since I'd want to do all the mods and upgrades, I could design a new cab with the upgrades in mind instead of retrofit the old one
"I bought this really nice sports car, but I figured it would really be a conversation piece if I cut off all the doors and lifted it. It now serves neither its original purpose nor some utility purpose, it's really just a useless expensive project that you can look at and wince... Yes, facebook has certainly shown to help get pins on the market. Now even the most casual careless sellers can simply snap a blurry pic, post it on facebook and press the zero an unnecessary amount of times...
That sad looking Royal Guard is still up near Boston for $100
Looks like the backbox disintegrated, but the guts are there for it. I can't tell how bad the water damage might be from the photos, so it might end up just being a parts machine. If so, the lockbar alone is probably worth about $50. If I was closer, I might be more tempted.
ballypin You could probably ship that via Fastenal for $125. Find a Pinsider that lives near the seller that would be willing to pick it up and drop off at a Fastenal store during their business hours; M-F 7:30AM-5:00PM. If the Pinsider can't palletize and strap down the pin, Fastenal charges an extra $20.
I'm willing to help any Pinsider that needs something picked up in the Atlanta area and dropped at a Fastenal store.
Hey, I’ve been off on vacation, so I’ve only briefly been peaking at Pinside when I get a chance each day. Joining in, thanks for everything Pecos! This thread is one of my favorites along with “what did you bring home today?” Seeing all the deals are great and it gives me a better idea at price/value of games and conditions.
This thread is the fix that both keeps you going but helps keep the addiction at bay!
I also have a request of the fine folks of this thread: does anyone have a lead on a Bally Lost World head? I just bought a fully populated body game with a rough playfield, and I guess the story was that the head was matched with a wrong game left outside and rotted into oblivion. So he kept the head it had and sold the body.
This is for a good cause! I got my buddy hooked onto pinball and he wants to give it a go, so if we can locate a head relatively quickly, this will be his first game he’s going to fix up!
He’s already very involved with miniatures and his dad is interested in working on them too!
So I say: to whatever gallant soul can help me locate a Lost World head you will assist in bringing not just one but TWO good men into the hobby!! A father & son duo!
#7437 6 years ago
Quoted from Matesamo:
Looks like an entire playfield retheme complete with Bud bottle, Marvin the Martin and Tasmanian Devil. What a pairing! Certainly not a sample or a rare item.
Wow, I LOVE these handyman rethemes, they’re such gems! Or more aptly, like glueing googly-eyes and glitter on your gemstones to add that “personal” touch.
#7455 6 years ago
Quoted from ZNET:
RYAN: “Sheesh, that game is hot as sh**. With the purple powder coat."
COLSON: “Whoa! Yes! Whoa!”
RYAN: “Yes! The Colson has scored. Whoa, my man!”
[pinball cross talk]
RYAN: “It better not be a reimport. No it’s a domestic game, it’s”
COLSON: “Yeah that’s a Bad Cats with the gold legs. I better bring some ratchet wrenches, in case I start wanting to unscrew her. You know, I’m automatically attracted to beautiful clearcoats. . .I just start road tripping them. It’s like a magnet. Just road trip. I don’t even wait. And when you’re Colson, they let you do it. You can do anything."
RYAN: “Whatever you want.”
COLSON: “Grab them by the coin door.. You can do anything.”
I usually hate political humor, but this is clever and funny as hell.
Didn’t even realize what it was until I got to the end. That’s too damn funny.
Just make a fake Facebook for joining pinball groups if you’re not interested in using the site for anything else. I shouldn't have commented on the price of the pin without knowing the backstory. I did state to him that he was perhaps shooting too high.
Even in American Pickers they picked a guy with loads of EMs and mentioned that only certain ones are worth big money and they won't even bother with any of the common titles. They bought a Wizard! on Pickers
OP: I'm selling a Williams COMET Pinball Machine. I pulled this machine out of my friends parents basement with the hopes of restoring it, but lost interest in the project. It turns on, lights up and plays, and the scoreboards are clear and bright. The sound works good and the backglass is near perfect, however the playfield is a mess. Its worn out and some of the plastic pieces are cracked. I would consider this a parts machine, but it could be brought back with some love. Anyway, its a good project for someone who knows more about these machines.
Spoke to this seller, claims an interested party is on the way for Sunday with $800. When asked if he’d entertain offers, he responded that whoever shows up first with money gets it.
Hope this helps a fellow Pinsider! Imo game is not worth the $900. Comet comes up often for less.
It’s definitely NOT a parts machine though, seller is crazy. It plays fine, just some wear spots apparently makes it a lost cause
#11867 5 years ago
Eh, I’ve actually accelerated my pin buying and I still haven’t spent more than a grand on a pin to date. You can find deals, I’ve found that hardcore networking and word of mouth is the real way to get to them. I always keep my eyes open and try to keep a cash reserve.
I recently missed a damn Taxi for only $500 dollars recently. I was super angry over that too. It wasn’t a scam, there’s a local town that has consistently yields insane pin deals if you keep on top of the posts. A Spooksville sold from there for $50 two years ago. Both were WORKING.
In my opinion it’s the speed that collectors find deals that makes it seem dried up. If a deal on a pin exists it is eaten up immediately. When I picked up my Mars Trek last year, I showed up only 5 minutes before someone else and I shook on the deal literally as the other guy pulled in.
People who sell just put their net out all over the place and are overwhelmed with offers.
If you really want to score today in this market, buy the basket cases and parts machines and start buying up parts and connect with the guys who have huge hoards.
#11875 5 years ago
Quoted from shimoda:
Perhaps it is a bit of bad luck. As for not using the right tools - perhaps it is also a case of when I’m working I cant take the time to look for deals because I’m working. Id have liked to get the Jumping Jack and that Alien Poker but this also happened to be one of those times I didn’t have the $ at the right moment.
Jack, when you say you come across plenty of deals you don’t move on, it sounds like you must also have the opportunity to look more often as well. Perhaps that’s just a reason the hobby isn't the best choice for someone like me. I’ve diven deep into pinball and have taught myself to be able to fix anything I need to on these games - mechanically or electronically. Whenever I have the funds, or not, I’m looking. Just happens that the past several months, when I've had the funds, I'm always second, or third in line and miss out. The one exception was a few weeks ago I came across an actual deal, was first in line but needed a day or two to travel to get the machine. At first the guy was gonna hold, but changed his mind ten minutes later for someone closer. I’m not looking to have people tell me how I’m using the wrong methods because they can also find games, even ones they turn down; I wouldn’t rub it in someone’s face that I had better luck than them. Some people get the luck, some don’t. It’s just one of those things. If I have anything to blame it’s obviously my choice of career and my infatuation with all things electromechanical (I faced a similar issue years back when I became obsessed with Hammond organs).
Will take the time particularly to thank John here for posting so often. I know he won’t post games he is after (rocky and bullwinkle) being one I fell in love with and would love to have but won’t assume I’ll ever find one I can afford) but he posts a ton for everyone to see, a real service to those looking. Thanks to everyone else that posts these as well (except when it means I am second in line, of course ). For now I’ll be thankful for the games I do have. Gear envy isn’t any better than gear lust so good luck to everyone looking.
You’ve had an insane amount of games already!! Maybe you’re addicted to the hunt, like many of us here :b if you posted a location or contacted local pinballers you could possibly have people hold games for you!
Big Top, any of the Sears home model games, and even Street Fighter II are metric tonnes of fun compared to the paltry featherweight El Toro
#11913 5 years ago
Quoted from polyacanthus:
I disagree. Not saying it's the best pin ever but if you want to actually play the game instead of just bouncing the ball around, those two layers of rollover lanes will definitely hone your nudging skills. Some people just get confused on what to do on an EM if there are no drop targets...
I’ve played EMs without drop targets, Mars Trek is one that is absolutely phenomenal. It’s moreso the issue that aside from some nudging, the game is boring and has almost no objective. It’s the sort of game that has extremely low replay value.
I’m a fan of EMs, and I think if they’re set up right they are fast and fun with extreme punishment (no ball saves, no hand-holding) some games especially in the EM era had very little imagination. The scoring usually doesn’t even compensate for poor design! You can make a simple game, deeper with objectives and creative goals. Such as a game like #Rockmaker.
Some games feel like they were made just to be parts-bins!
That’s depressing. And a sonic game no less.
Boy, that's for sure. Ten years ago I paid $300 for my Embryon, & $185 for Mr & Mrs pacman - both not working, but still....
Mr. & Mrs. Pac-Man is still no more than a $500 game in working condition. I want one, but they’re a dime a dozen and total snore-fest. My Baby Pac needs parents.
#12134 5 years ago
The big deal that has had some parts gutted for $75 is near me. Anyone want that and use it to make one working big deal?
#12141 5 years ago
Quoted from snyper2099:
You would change your mind if you played one that was fully working and you actually played in a group of people that know how to play it. I had a gathering at my house about a month ago with 18 machines and it had the most plays by a landslide. People were waiting in lines to play it.
It's not a bad game but every single one you have played was likely a piece if crap, and not working correctly.
I only state that because I have played more than 10 of them over the last 15 years and the only one that was maintained properly, set up properly, and played correctly is the one that I own. It gets zero love among pinball people but who cares about those assholes?
If you think you do fully understand the game, answer these 5 simple questions:
what is your bonus multiplier at the start of the game (factory default settings)?
how much is an earned yellow maze space worth (including bonus)?
what does pacman say when you complete maze1? how about maze 2?
when do the lower 6 drop targets reset?
The game has an extremely interesting point strategy regarding risk/reward and is very heavy on bonus. If you answer these questions correctly and still think it's a turd, maybe you would like South Park and SFII instead.
I think it’s interesting and unique which is why I wouldn’t mind getting a project for a few hundred, but the extreme start & stop nature of it (the maze) really ruins it for a lot of folks.
I would be interested in playing yours though, now you’ve really made me rethink it
OP: PROJECT PIN. Game needs a ton of work. Would need to rebuild the head. Only thing missing that I know of is the backglass. I have plugged it in and the game tries to start but that’s about the extent of the troubleshooting I have done. Was planning to fix and rebuild but just don’t have the time. PM me if interested.
Sorry, that would be me although I won't be able to pick it up until this weekend to really figure out what the hell is going on with Shrek back glass. It's an oddball enough machine that for $200 I couldn't pass it up.
Yeah it was stupid of me to not just pay the $200 I sent them a question and waited. Oh well, lesson learned. Please post a thread about it, there is only 1 listed in Pinballowners.com and 2 listed on Pinside so there is essentially NO information out there and I’d love to see detail pics of the whole thing! Also if you need help I can send you details of another pinsider who can print a backglass. You’d need to try and get a high-res scan from one of the 3 owners on the internet
Termites are a serious problem for all collectors in Florida
Quoted from Pecos:
'Red Flags.'
I don't look at Craiglist for pinballs anymore. I don't have the money or the room for more pins. But for some reason I checked the Tucson Craigslist last night and found a game on my wishlist, Flash, in Tempe, that I have been wanting for years. It was a Project Pin but priced right, too right, at only $300.
Red Flag - Yellow Flag #1: Priced well below market value. I should change this to 'Yellow Flag' because I have found some amazing under-priced Project Pins here in Arizona.
The ad had been up for eight hours already so I was expecting it to be sold already. But I replied to the ad by email and to another ad that he had for a Silverball Mania.
I received two emails in the morning saying 'I do' which was rather bizarre since I wasn't asking if he still had the machines. I was offering to buy them.
Red Flag #2: Email answered with what seemed like a canned reply, as if he hadn't even read my email.
One of the ads had a phone number so I called him up and told him that I was looking for a Flash. I told him that I was driving from Tucson and would he hold them for me? I offered $100 more than he was asking for the two machines. He told me that he couldn't do that and that he had someone there wanting them/it. I told him that I had to go to my Credit Union to get the money.
Red Flag #3: Telling me that he had someone there but the games were still available?
I offered to put $100 in his Paypal account if he would hold them for me. I wasn't about to drive almost two hours to Phoenix to find that he had sold the game(s) to someone else. I have learned that this promise is important!! He told me he didn't want that!
Red Flag #4: Why wasn't he willing to work with me? I was offering more than he asked? I was offering a down payment, sight unseen.
Red Flag #5: I got the feeling that he wanted several people to show up so he could have a 'Flash Auction', pun intended.
I then asked for his address and he told me that he would text it to me after I had the money in my hand. Huh?
Red Flag #6: What kind of games were this seller playing? Why wouldn't he give me his address? Why did I have to waste the time to drive to my Credit Union?
I went to my Credit Union. I really wanted Flash. It is one of the games in the great early Williams solid state games trilogy. I already own Firepower and Black Knight.
I called J**** again and told him I was at my Credit Union. He told me that someone was coming to look at Flash which seemed to contradict his earlier statement that he had a possible buyer already there. I told him that I wasn't coming up to Tempe until he accepted or declined my offer. He told me that it was probably better that I not come then.
Apparently this was a 'cash in hand' seller. Or was he looking for more money? He has the right to accept or not the offers that come his way. But what was with all the games? I did not take money out of my Credit Union and I did not make the hot drive to Tempe. I have no hard feelings, sometimes Craigslist sales go like this and I am certain that I made the right choice by passing on this rather strange Craigslist Project Pin opportunity.
It’s hard to be totally sure from hearing only one side. I couldn’t well understand exactly what you were doing either in your post, Pecos (kinda confusing to read is all) but from what I gathered I wouldn’t have bothered at all. I had a similar situation once and I actually went anyway. I was trying to check out a Mars Trek for 2 weeks and the seller wouldn’t give an address or time. Finally after pressing for a 4th or so attempt they sent me an address and time and I hauled out there!
Low and behold even though mysteriously they couldn’t work it out for 2 weeks, it turned out they invited 2 other buyers to come AT THE SAME TIME.
Total garbage. I still got the game but I thought that was utter shit to do to the other folks. I felt really bad for them.
It was a bizarre situation and just didn’t make any sense to me to be totally honest. Lady was retired and could have met me at any time...
People are just weird and can’t make up their mind some times.
Quoted from bluespin:
Wow! I’m really tempted to buy this but I’ll warn anyone considering buying this:
1. The cabinets of this generation were silk screened. Jeff at pinball pimp won’t make stencils as the silk screened cabinets were too detailed to make a stencil.
2. Steve Young doesn’t have the artwork for this title. I already have a water damaged cabinet and I already inquired. That means that no one can easily make a cabinet decal for this game.
3. These cabinets were made with mdf, compressed sawdust, so any moisture causes them to swell on the edges. You can sand off the swelling, apply fiberglass and paint over the fiberglass.
Or do what I have done, throw the cabinet in the garbage, where MDF belongs, and just make a new one much sturdier and of high quality lumber like they deserve. I’m still working on the whole artwork half of it, and I’ve never tried silk-screened artwork but my best friend makes his own silk screens for t-shirts so perhaps his expertise can transfer over?
A steal for a gamer! Yes, it is the “gamers” who are buying pinball machines.
I know I can obviously see that. Thanks for nit picking me. You are just doing it so you can shamefully plug your business at the end of your post. Good work. Great marketing strategy!
I just assumed it was his board signature, attached automatically to every post he makes. Pretty sure you can make one in the settings, I always figured they’re pointless unless you own a business or something. He’s got a point though. The box of parts looks like someone cannibalized the machine
Lol that’s a Mr. Beast moment. (For the old coots: rich guy on YouTube famous because he gives away $10k in every video for random reasons) his latest upload he bought a dozen cars and gave them away for free. He had a sticker of $200 on one car someone walked up and said “are you for real??” And he said “okay okay you drive a hard bargain, I’ll go as low as free”
Thought it was humorous.
Shot him a text, let's see what happens.
I have a "lead" if you will... I just had Rixzilla pick up some projects for me from a lead that was posted here earlier, the F-14 playfield...
Well Rick just picked up the games and the terrible pictures they provided showed gorgeous playfields with nearly no wear.
Except upon closer inspection Meteor has EXTENSIVE termite damage The entire playfield, body and head is ruined...
The Blackout body and playfield has beginning signs of termite damage too...
What devastating news
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The woman still has quite a few arcade project machines and a few pins and some parts available. I saw bally coindoors, some transformers and an EM playfield. Be warned of the termite issue. Maybe you can salvage something from this but who knows. Best of luck Pinsiders!

LOCATION: Pensacola, Florida
Seller: Susan
PLEASE READ: The woman listing these ads apparently has never even stepped foot on this property. To my understanding it is her father's estate. There is a lawyer currently living on the property managing the estate and handles all the calls, answers questions and so forth, she is the one who gets paid. There are 4 outbuildings that are extremely dirty, grimy and just nasty. Apparently the Meteor was loaded with cockroaches, termites and mice... These folks don't seem to know much anything about pinball and are asking high prices. But I was able to negotiate deals. Message me for the direct contact information if you'd like to give this a chance.

You’re peeling that paint off?!? I thought you were laying down all those colors somehow like a multilayer stencil, I was very confused.
That’s pretty impressive but what kind of hick used a playfield as a paint pallet?! That’s the last thing I’d consider. Kinda like the hillbillies I bought from that used a Seawitch cabinet for firewood cuz “it didn’t work” I could only save the playfield.
Speaking off, if that comes out nicer than my playfield that was eaten by carpenter bees/termites maybe we can trade :b

Bahaha, so the Super Straight cabinet is pure trash. Totally swollen and blown out. But still what a COOL game, love those heavy square drop targets!
And he had the keys and the manual for Freedom.
Best of all, he said “to be honest I would really just like a Bally Kiss pinball machine” so I said I’d help track him down a nice Kiss for himself and I’ll help him should any issues arise! Always down to help another Pinhead join our ranks!

So if anyone knows anyone with a decent Kiss they want to sell for a reasonable price, please let me know so we can make this happen!

What is the acrylic project? I’m not familiar, is that one of those see-through pinball machines?? I love those!

Tbh I don’t care for the freedom, it’s the Super Straight I really want. I’m growing rather fond of these Spanish games. They’re just so crazy and unique! They did a lot of stuff differently and I love it! It has that really awesome upper shooter lane that diverts into a kicker!! How wild, never seen anything like it before.

Welp I got in that nasty-ass Meteor &
Blackout from Florida.
The termites/wood-beetles destroyed Meteor and it was full of the biggest mother loving spiders I’ve ever encountered. Needless to say it was not salvageable. However I stripped every single part out of it and destroyed the cab. Some parts are spoken for but if you’ve been desperate for Stern parts as I have in the past, send me a message or pop into the thread I started for these games.
Everything but the coindoor, transformer and lockdown bar is for grabs. Also the complete wiring harness for the Meteor as well.

Oh and the infestation wasn’t active, I never encountered any living wood-eating bugs... tons of other nasties though

Quoted from too-many-pins:

I emailed the seller earlier today and asked a couple additional questions but have not gotten a reply yet. I sold my parts business to a guy from Maryland and we are in the process of moving a dozen van & trailer loads of stuff in his direction over the next few weeks. So I figure he might be interested in the load for the parts. From the pictures price is not really all that far out of line if the metal stuff on the bottom of the playfields isn't all rusty. Not a "steal of a deal" but not bad either at $1250 (or $1375) depending on which is the actual price.
My issue is 1000 miles of driving for a "trailer load of junk" I don't really need. I figure two nights in a motel, cheap food, and fuel will run me an addtional $500 (or more) to go grab the stuff for the new owner of the parts business. Once you add those expenses into the mix it becomes a lot more risky!

Congrats, Skip! Now you can finally “slow down”

Game has a very nice, solid cabinet.
I can send pics. Backglass is decent 5/10 flaking on the drummers
Game mostly works and plays, operator was kind enough to leave a list of hacks done over the years which I’ve verified. Most of them are very tasteful and beneficial for troubleshooting/diagnostics. Only issue I have found is the saucers don’t work or score at all, and I haven’t dove into it.

Looking to cut down on my projects.
I’m at the point where I realize I’m no longer enjoying it and I need to cut back and focus on the games I actually want.

OP: Bally Baby Pac Man Pinball Project. AS IS.
$925 or best reasonable offer.
Read the whole description and see all 10 pics before questions.
The Good:
Playfield and Cabinet in great condition. One small nick on playfield near flippers
New Drop Targets
New Top Side LED
New Weebly MPU less than 30 days old
Professionally serviced and upgraded Vidiot board by Jerry Clause in August 2019
New ring kit installed. Post caps included but not pictured.
Bad:
Monitor needs a cap kit
Does not boot as j2 and j3 connectors need to be replaced due to leaky battery.(new connectors included)
No playfield glass.
I have additional pics but could only add 10 to listing.
Pickup in Dallas Georgia near DMV. Just west of Atlanta. No Holds. If you want it, message me when you are ready to get it. Cash and Carry.

Screaming deal, the Vidiot has the fan mod so it’s basically bulletproofed. Connectors are easy and cap kits are simple as long as you discharge the voltage.
This is a GREAT deal for someone!

Quoted from Y3AG3R:

I have been eyeing this one, it is local to me I just think I would get sick of it quickly.

Baby Pac-Man is known as the hardest Pac-Man game ever made. It is a challenge to get past the 3rd maze (unless you set it extremely easy)
And the programming on the half playfield is incredible, it is ridiculously fun and challenging. The outer lanes will advance your timed “extra baby” shot, the inner lanes will even up your spell PAC-MAN columns, the saucers award you 2 extra letters, the captive ball awards a full column!

That’s with only HALF a playfield. It’s a ton of fun and really relies on perfect aiming and nailing combos.

My wife got me this for Xmas. It’s.... Rough. She was so proud she found me something. I love deeply she indulged my request for a project pin and surprised me with this for Christmas, but the termites scare the crap out of me. The back box is cork it’s so shot. I immediately shrinkwrapped it and bug bombed it several times. Bug bombed my garage as well. Haven’t even popped the coin door yet so haven’t got a great look at it yet to see what’s recoverable here. Probably going to Termedor it as well just to be sure. I’d burn it, other than now shes done this, I’m going to have to make a working Playboy now (somehow) but I think the first thing I’m going to need to do is find a donor cabinet. She picked it up with a friend and checked that it powered on, so guessing boards are good. It’s not hacked up at least from what I can tell.
Thank god most of this stuff is available repo... I’m going to need it. If anyone has a suitable donor cabinet, let me know!

I had my meteor thread about the blackout and meteor I bought from Florida with termite damage. They were not active, turns out that the termite damage seemed to attract carpenter ants though. Never seen that happen before.

Leave the game for a couple weeks. If you don’t see any evidence of termites by then, you’re safe. If you wanna be really sure just bust a hole in the weakest part and see if anything living falls out. If that doesn’t knock anything out of it then it’s definitely safe.
That’s awesome it powers on! Building a new cabinet and head is a big project but very manageable.

Quoted from ForceFlow:

Not worth it.
There was a nice working Attila for sale not too long ago that was listed for about the same price for an extended period of time. It's rare, but not highly desirable, unfortunately.

Quoted from cottonm4:

There was a a Hun at TPF 2-3 years ago. I played it a couple of times and walked on. There was also an Andromeda; I really wanted to like it but it was not set up right.
I had Captain Hook folded up in the corner and sold it to someone who was able to make it play. My buyer put it back together and has it working. CH has good game playing action. I liked it but I am not sorry I sold the pin.

I greatly appreciate both of your inputs! This is why I enjoy being on Pinside so much. Without you guys I woulda possibly made a poor choice. Captain Hook is a game I’ve been actively looking for since I joined the hobby for sentimental reasons, the Gameplan one is better than the DE Hook imo. Let me know if you ever come across another, Cotton!

I could have shared it in the 10 FB pinball groups im a member of.....but chose to only share it with the Pinside family.... guess theres still time for a "Big mouth jerk" to do that before the auction.....

Don’t take it personally, he has very few posts, so chances are he wasn’t aware this whole “don’t spoil the deal!” has been beat to death already.
Auctions are widely known and we all know if a desirable pin is listed at an auction, everyone who’s gonna pay the big money already knows.

My Wish List? You imagine that I sit around each day updating my Hot Sheet with every machine I really want to own? More of that well-known Pinside elitism on display here.
For everyone's enjoyment, the Quicksilver sold to someone else for $3500, non-working. I wasn't gonna go a penny over $2500.

The only one being toxic is you, you’re posting in your own echo chamber 4 times in a row because you’re asshurt someone posted an auction near you.
Get over yourself. We don’t all check these all over the country 24/7, so local people post them for others. It’s an auction, you’re not gonna get a deal anyway dude, stop thinking you had a perfect cheap quicksilver to yourself, that literally never happens. It’s already been posted all over Facebook before you even knew it. Auctions are where you get overpriced pins, so settle down and relax.

Quoted from AntennaMan:

If I’d made a special trip for the Space Shuttle and was put through the douchbaggery I was by this person today, I would not be pleased.
We messaged last night and agreed to meet today at about noon so I could pick it up at the agreed price, on my way back from another pickup across the lake in Plattsburgh, NY., about 100 miles from home. I messaged when I hit the road in the morning, 15 minutes before arrival as asked and while in the driveway when no one answered the door. I got a reply when I was about 20 miles up the road on the way home. She seemed shocked I wasn’t going to lock up the brakes and head back. I told her my van was full, but I’d be making a return trip once I unloaded. Great! She asked when I’d be back. I estimated 4-5pm. Again she wanted a 15 minute heads up and I messaged when I started back. Sent the 15 minute message and she replied she was home and waiting. Just before arriving she messaged saying someone else had just left with the Space Shuttle, would I like to still stop and see the Hollywood and Air Wolf? By the time I replied, a simple Nope, I was already on the ferry to NY to pick up accrane machine I didn’t have room for the first trip. I’d planned to make at least one return trip for the crane and another for the Space Shuttle if needed be, which I would have made first. But good golly, if I’d made a trip back just for the Space Shuttle, I’d have not been a happy camper.

I had been trying to buy the Space Shuttle as well and the lady was such a bitch. She would not answer messages for hours and then respond at odd times and insist immediate responses. It was stupid and a total PITA!
Finally I just told her to forget it and she replied the space shuttle was sold anyway. Sounds like she was jerking multiple folks around

F*ck,
That is my neighbor's listing. She was supposed to offer me the games. argggg

I know the feeling. My uncle was supposed to give me a restored pinball machine his son (my cousin) owned. After my cousin passed away, the estranged wife came outta no where and is now suing for the house and all it’s possessions, even though he sold it to my uncle before he died. She’s trying to nullify it and is selling shit out the backdoor so we can’t get anything when she inevitably loses.
It’s very frustrating.

Wrong thread for this. There are already a few threads that bashed supreme. It’s an overplayed joke; just a Spider-Man home edition retheme. Supreme is a brand that practices artificial scarcity to inflate prices. They sold for like 10 or 15k and now retail for absurd numbers.

Heads up--we received a message today from a member who went to buy two NIB pins in Albany, NY and the buyer said he was robbed at gunpoint by the seller. That's all the info we have at the moment.
Obviously, this was a shock to hear. As things get worse, people may be getting more desperate and/or bold. Be careful out there.

Yes but keep in mind that’s Albany, New York’s trusty ol’ robbery and shooting capital.
I mean the Albany league where we (20-30 folks) play pinball is literally one block down from Clinton Ave when you hear about constant murders and shootings. Pretty scary stuff.

Anytime I’ve bought in Albany I always request somewhere visible/public and bring a friend.
Not trying to sound rude either. Some people are cozy with the city, especially when they live there, but boy is it the shitter. You gotta know where you’re going and be aware of the local crime hot spots. Same thing when going to Boston or NYC. Do research on the neighborhood beforehand.

Quoted from too-many-pins:

I have a decent project Mr & Mrs PAC MAN here in Central PA I would let go for $550. My plans were to fix it up and take it to one of the shows this year but I don't know if I want to deal with shows at this point with this CoronaVirus mess. From memory it is in overall good condition, untested boards (assume battery damage), a scratch or two on the backglass and a little minor wear on the playfield but overall a solid project machine.
We are located about a mile off I-81 (exit 45 or 47 midway between the two exits) and machine is in the garage for easy loading. Because of the CoronaVirus I don't want to spend a lot of time with a buyer - I would have machine in the driveway ready to load and buyer can look it over but I am not getting close to anyone right now so they need to be able to load it. I'll list it on Pinside for sale at some point and include pictures then but for now I don't have any pictures of it yet. I just decided to post it tonight in case anyone was headed past on I-81 and looking for a project that is easy to grab. (CASH at pick up ONLY).

I’ve wanted one of these as a project for a while but since they’ve barred me from
entry into my own arcade I don’t think I can buy any new projects. Pretty pissed about it.

If anyone’s interested, I can always hold it although I’m in the opposite direction from the interested parties!

Quoted from too-many-pins:

It is truly a "labor of love" however I think a younger guy tweaking prices a bit and working a little harder than I care to do will do very well selling pinball parts. And that is exactly who I sold the parts business to last Fall. Matt (hazmat7719 here on Pinside) now owns 95% of my inventory and will start selling parts this Fall. We made the deal on the business last Fall at the York Show and I managed to deliver 8 van & trailer loads of parts and machines to him before this Coronavirus mess hit. I still have one last load to deliver.
Since I had to cancel my plans for 2020 because of the Coronavirus Matt & I amended our deal and I am going to continue to sell some parts until this Fall when he is going to be ready to get underway. So starting around Oct. 2020 Matt will be you "go to guy" for lots of great used parts.
For now I'll keep helping as many people as possible but it has gotten tougher with my very limited inventory these days.
-Skip-

Congrats on making the sale, Skip!
I didn’t know you found a buyer, that’s wonderful someone with the passion picked up your parts business!
I wished I could have met you at the York show. I got there so late I seemed to have missed everyone.

Quoted from ss-pinball:

I don't have anywhere else to ask.
My pinball project of the week is going to be a pinball dolly project.
The seller says that the cylinder needs to be replaced.
Does anyone have an idea what the cylinder is going to set me back and where I can find one?
I assume that it'll be a quick couple of bolts or cotter pins and some cleaning up and lubrication on the joints...but this cylinder...anyone with a link to a suitable replacement cylinder would be helping me out huge...I'm about to get two more pins and this dolly is going to be a lifesaver...

I went to NAPA and they honed the cylinder and rebuild it and fixed up everything for $100. A bit expensive, but holy crap is it worth it.
This Wico Cart was the best thing I’ve ever bought.

I've watched a ton of gameplay videos at this point, that's why my wishlist is so massive!
I'm into solid state machines from early 80's all the way to present day.
Having said that, certain machines interest me more than others.

You only beat me by 24! My wishlist is smaller because I’ve bought nearly 2 dozen of the games I’ve wanted, and played quite a few that turned out to severely disappoint me!

Play as many as you can and don’t be foolish like me and buy stuff before you play!

Skylab - $950 or best offer (Denver area). Looks to be in pretty nice shape.
denver.craigslist.org link
OP: Mechanical, single player, plays great, backglass is in excellent condition, coin mech works - plays quarters, smooth playing field, lights/bumpers/flippers all work great, willing to negotiate for quick sale, see pictures, can call, cash only please, thanks for looking.

Warning, this game is one of the most boring games in existence. We’re talking El Toro/Big Ben levels of boring.
Price is absurd... unless you run a broken-down museum and have a god complex, then it’s a steal for a rare game.

#17165 3 years ago

Did anyone pick this up?
If no one else is interested, I actually like Star Race and I’d try my best to make a machine out of it.
I assume I’d be better off building a cabinet since they hardly made any ultrawide bodies.

It would be a several months till I get to it though, so if anyone might get this project going quicker, go for it!

Quoted from Murphdom:

Spin-A-Card
OP: Pinball Machine needs to be restored. Did work at one point when we bought it. Haven't tried to make it work in a while.
Me: Ummmm...if you really want it I can pick it up for you and we can make arrangements later but it’s a real beater and I applaud you for your efforts.
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/319334755896727/

This is one of the few EMs that hold up if you have modern tastes. The sounds and action of Spin-A-Card is great.
I shot them a message, if they come down a bit on the price that’s not a bad game! I’ve had good luck getting them working again. They’re not that hard once you understand the logic flow.

Fast Draw is waaaaay too good to be parted out.
Open your mind to EMs! Don’t believe the DMD-hype crowd, there are genuinely fun and entertaining EMs made! Fast Draw is great.

It’s also listed on Pinside, I remember seeing the ad.
I guess he snapped the little tab off the lockdown bar.
Why are they so fragile on Capcoms?

#17470 3 years ago
Quoted from bluespin:

They made their cabinets out of particle board, so cheap lockdown bars would be consistent with their manufacturing “quality.”

Not to start a war but nobody has good cabinets in my experience.
Sys3’s have “the least shitty” but the only GOOD cabs, are the ones you (or a good cabinet maker) builds themselves with real joints.

I ended up bowing out at $1500 for the GATG and I bid the Gyruss till $650 and had to let it go too.

There were a ton of Amish folk. Very surreal the bizarre, eclectic estate.

$500 (firm, they rejected my offers even though it says OBO)
Only 54 made!
Link:ebay.com link: itm

Me: also posted on FB tons of working arcade machines from a closed arcade.
I contacted them wanting to buy it but honestly $500 is just too high for it imo.

Maybe $300 or so.

Bell Ringer is the coaster one. Was tempted to make an offer on the one at York last year, but it's tough to justify the space it takes up.

I’ve got a complete bell ringer playfield. And most the hardware, just need a mini pin cabinet!

Whoever runs their eBay is much more reasonable because I sent an offer, hoping they’d turn me down again and I’d be free of the temptation, but they accepted it...
Now I own Nudge-It I guess

First pin and a 9 hour drive?!? That’s nuts!

#17850 3 years ago
Quoted from Ballypin:

What ?? A 2 hour drive for a $ 150 pin is too far ?
We need to revoke your pin project card

Quoted from ForceFlow:

Most of that won't be highway driving, unlike in other northeastern states. Most of the roads through VT & NH are twisty two-lane roads, so it's kind of a pain to drive. There are very few long, straight stretches, so you can't really use cruse control much. It can be a tiring trip.
Then if you get stuck behind a slow moving vehicle, you're usually stuck behind them for miles before you either have an opportunity to pass (where you can actually see far enough down the road to tell if it's clear) or they finally turn off somewhere.

My second game ever was my Baby Pac-Man which was the floor model from Fun-Spot. The guy lived about 20 minutes from them. It took me 5 hours of driving both ways. THE WORST MISTAKE. I’d absolutely take the Mass Turnpike and drive UP to NH. Don’t go through VT and NH, it takes hours and hours and the drive is exhausting.
It will probably almost double the miles but still be faster if you take the Mass Pike.

To be fair I’ve already reached out to the seller because Space Riders is one of the slightly interesting Atari games.

Cool game you don’t see often

#18114 3 years ago
Quoted from alexmogil:

What's even weirder about this particular game is that I saw it along with a pitch and bat at a local flea/antiques shop. It was on the ground with the head down and the owners couldn't tell me anything about it, and they had it priced at 400. I passed because there were just too many unknowns. Here we are a couple weeks later and I see that ad where the guy bought it and is hacking on it, so I figured now was the time to get it because he would probably destroy it. No judgement, just truth, we've all been there. I mean he was keeping it exposed on his front porch to work on it.
So now *I* get to destroy it.

Some of these Neanderthal’s that “get into the hobby” are mind-blowing.
I mean it’s not like a ridiculous statement to say “everyone knows you don’t leave wooden furniture outside”
Nobody leaves couches or dressers or tables outside. But for some reason they see arcade and pinball and think “sure out in the rain is fine”

#18124 3 years ago
Quoted from ThatOneDude:

I had a bunch of adirondack chairs that we built sitting on my porch for years. Lots of people just brought old dining room chairs outside when they got a new set.
And my wife's grandmother had a toilet with flowers in the front yard. She was kinda cantankerous, so I used to joke that it was the guest bathroom.
All of that in small town Kansas.
In Louisiana, all of the Cajun families I knew kept an old wooden dining table outside. On special occasions, it was dusted off, covered with newspaper and freshly boiled crabs or crawfish were dumped out on it. Gluttony would ensue.

Adirondack Chairs are made to be outside! That’s the whole point, keep ‘em out in the Adirondacks :b

Holy shit it actually turns on and functions AND comes with the manual. That’s a rarity. Somebody better snatch that thing!

Williams Laser Ball machine-set out for bulk trash pickup in St. Louis if you want to salvage
Saw a Williams Laser Ball set out for bulk pickup in the alley between 3900 block of Flora Place and 3900 block of Russell at 7:30 am this morning. Was not in the best of shape, but thought I would post in case someone local wanted to try and rehab it before scrap metal folks grabbed it. Sorry that I didn't have my phone with me when I was out for a walk, so no photos.

Hopefully someone gets this!!!
I woulda gone and grabbed it who passed up a FREE machine??? Even if it’s trash I will always MAKE space for free

There’s a Victory on Letgo in Mass for 1k
I was really thinking about it but I was talking to some crackhead on eBay who ALSO had a victory in nearly the same spot and I think it’s the same person.

FYI:They are asking $600. It’s not mentioned in the ad.

Got texted this at 11pm last night, locked and loaded set out and at 9:30, halfway there I got a text from herbertbsharp saying “Check out what I just picked up”
That son of a gun!

We set it up and it worked just fine. Got a flaky display and rusty balls, lockdown bar is missing and the seller would NOT budge thanks to all of us emailing her she thought it was a hot item haha. It also has that lovely wet basement smell and is the dirtiest *working* game I’ve ever seen.

Sad to miss out but glad a local pinsider got it so I can still play the hell out of it.
