OP: Gottlieb Outer Space. Playfield is in very nice shape as well as the backglass. This one will clean up nicely. Has some paint chips and yellowing on cab. Could use new legs as they are slightly twisted but have held the game up that way for over 20 years. Will for sure need new leg levelers. Game spins upon startup but does not currently play.

Me: This is the two player version of Orbit (EM), and was later released as Super Orbit (SS). I played a lot of Super Orbit and it's a challenging fun game.

Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Game/Type: Solar Ride / SS System 1, 4 Player
Month/Year: February 1979
Production: 8,800
Cost: $600 or offer
Location: San Carlos (San Francisco), CA
Contact/Link: sfbay.craigslist.org link

Condition: "Good physical condition but not working
Fuses are good and some lights come on
New Main Board #457411"

Manufacturer: Williams
Game/Type: Time Warp / SS System 6, 4 Player
Features: Banana flippers
Month/Year: September 1979
Production: 8,875
Cost: $400
Location: Oakland, Lake Merritt / Grand, CA
Contact/Link: sfbay.craigslist.org link

Condition: "1979 'Time Warp: a pinball journey through the future and the past'. In good condition. It's been sitting in my storage for years, and though the love of pinball is deeply rooted in my heart, it needs another home. When it was last put together it worked well until the power switch, which was always fussy, finally needed replacing. Because it's the bay area I simply did not have room for it.
Playfield is good but with wear where you would expect it. Lights worked great. I replaced the Eprom when i got it, maybe 50 hours of play/on time since. You won't be able to plug it in at my storage and it's being sold as-is.
It's given a 7.9/10 fun score from the internet pinball database (ipdb.org), rare for a machine of this age. It has the optional 'banana flippers' which adds some unique gameplay elements."

Manufacturer: Williams
Game/Type: Honey / EM 4 Player
Month/Year: May 1972
Production: 6,301
Cost: $400
Location: Flushing, NY
Contact/Link: newyork.craigslist.org link

Condition: Backglass has been 'touched-up'! OP: "My husband bought this from a private owner about 20 years ago with intentions of restoring it but life changed. It needs the back art, balls don't feed because it always resets to 'Game Over' when you hit the button. So nothing is starting or moving. Like the reset button is stuck. It's why we don't play it anymore. It always had some interior parts/sections missing, but somehow was still playable. It has original schematics and other misc papers and parts for the buyer. I took a video of him testing it and opening it up and describing what he remembered about this game. Use this link to watch it on YouTube:

This machine was playable back in early 2000's as our basement was the game room for all our friend's kids. This honey kept score, and was very enjoyable at one time."

Quoted from Pecos:

I am honored, Chris, that you chose the Project Pin thread to make your first post.

Thanks Pecos! It's really hard to stay away from the thread at this point.

I read your background story earlier and noticed that you advised against taking on a System 80 as a project pin. Well... i did exactly that with my Gottlieb/Mylstar The Games as my very first project. Maybe i got lucky with this one. Only the backbox lights came on when i picked it up. It is entirely functional now with only a few minor things to track down (couple of stubborn playfield lights not working and a pop bumper randomly firing sometimes). I thoroughly enjoyed troubleshooting the issues on it and part of the fixes involved circuit board repair on the sound board (replaced a 7404 because the CPU wasn't getting the reset signal). I also love the game play and skill shots required for it. I think it's a very underrated game.

Quoted from Pecos:

Most of us here completely understand that statement!

I just need to continue to reassure my wife that i will be fixing up and reselling what i can, and not keeping every project i pick up.

The trick is selling just enough to keep the wife happy until you are totally out of space. Then at that point you have to sell one for every one you buy anyway.

As far as starting with a System 80 machine -- as long as the ground demons don't get you they are really no worse than any other project machine. Just remember if a System 80 does not have "ground mods" and is having issues the FIRST thing you want to do is do the ground mods. If it works OK without them great but if not do the mods first and save yourself some time down the road.

Sounds like you have some experience in this department.

There's another demon i am fighting as well. In watching CL, Ebay, FB Marketplace, Pinside, sometimes a working machine comes up that looks enticing. However, i am trying to have some self-control and just limit myself to affordable systems that are in need of repair. For one, they are generally cheap to pick up (though not always it seems), and second i really enjoy the troubleshooting and bringing them back to life. I honestly think i enjoy the fixing more than i do playing.

Agreed. There is an avalanche of data that i have found on the system 80s and lots of guidance on problems and what to look at when you are seeing them. I did perform the ground mods as i was noticing resets during game play and overall flaky behavior beforehand. I also had sound when i first got the machine up and running, but lost it a few days later. Not really sure, but i hadn't performed the ground mods at that point, but did perform them soon after. I later traced the sound problem to a bad 7404 on the sound board.

Game/Type: Gridiron / EM 2 Players
Month/Year: December 1977
Production: 1,025
Cost: $375
Location: Huntsville, AL
Link/Contact: huntsville.craigslist.org link

OP: Gottlieb Gridiron pinball machine. Made one year only (1975/76).

Really good condition. Especially the upper painted glass. Take a look at the photos.

Comes with a brand new "repair kit" that includes all the fuses, lights, rubber bumper replacements, ball, chrome metal cushion tops, etc.

Does turn on and most lights work. I purchased with the intent of finish the restoration work, but have moved on to other projects.

I have not worked on it at all, so I'm not sure everything works, but it does appear that everything is in operating condition.

I also have the complete the original "Installation Procedures and Game Operations Instructions" and the complete wiring schematic.

Operating ones (if you can find them) bring well over $2,500 and some waaayyy more than that.

First $375 cash buys it. I will help load into your vehicle.

Have a Blessed day.

OP: Just got it in a package deal and I haven’t even plugged it in. Take it so I don’t have to lug it down my stairs.

***Update***
I couldn't help myself. I lugged it to the basement and plugged it in. Lights up, score motor spins. There are around 5 threads on pinside with that same issue, most were resolved by cleaning or reseating the jones plugs. I may poke around a bit some more after work. All the plastics are good, no cracks or damage that I could see. Although not shown in the photos it does have the legs.

***Update 2***
A couple minutes of cleaning and we got action! Starts a game, tracks the balls, scores some of the play field items, ends game... it’s working and just needs a couple hours of cleaning to work 100%. See the video in the comments.

Tried to get the Mad World in Scranton but someone else has it and the Top Score held til Monday.

Is this you Colson ?

Driving to Buffalo tomorrow and this would have only added 10 hours to the trip.

Manufacturer: Williams

OP: One of my favorite EM pinball machines. I actually have two of these so selling one. Nice card themed pinball machine that plays fast with lots of targets and a nice rule set. Plays and looks good. The backglass has some minor flaking and the playfield has minor wear. These games were a favorite in arcades and bars because of the fast play and is fun for new and experienced pinball players. Perfect for a man cave or game room. You are welcomed to try before you buy. An easy game to move and set up. Priced for quick sell because I'm moving so trying to lighten the load a bit. Thanks for looking.

The cabinet and backglass on this extremely rare game look really nice. Somebody had better get this before some hoarder buys it and sticks it in their basement/garage for another ten years.
