I might be planning a trip out there tomorrow. It's 8hrs out of my way round trip. I guess wondering if anyone has gone to see what he had?

I'm picturing a disagreement that led to a hammer taken to someone's favorite toys, and a divorce... To pick up two hammer beaten pins at a garage sale sounds like it was personal.

Ding,Ding. I had just refurbished a Stern Meteor and a "pissed off girl friend took a hand axe to the playfield".
So said the guy I sold the game too.

I have a Gottlieb Jacks Open that needs a new/used cabinet. I know that the wedge head cabinet went thru several changes over the years but not sure what years would work for my January 1977 game. My guess anything after that but I'm not sure how far back I can go. Any help on that would be great. I will be in Allentown Thursday night thru Saturday. Thanks

Production:2,002

~~~~~Mr. Pinball Classifieds~~~~~
Manufacturer: Bally
Game/Type: Mad World/ 2 player EM
Year: May 1964
Production: 2,050
Cost: $650
Location: Southern NY, New York
OP: Has an exceptionally good playfield which really shines. The plastics are excellent as well. The backglass has a crack in the lower left corner which isn't horrible. Backglass is pretty good otherwise. The cabinet has original paint but it's dry and flaking badly in places. The paint on the lightbox is good. The game is mostly working, but there's an issue with the ball count unit not incrementing. I never did get a schematic and figure it out, so I just put the game away. It might have something to do with the multi-ball mode. The game is very clean inside; no hacks, and everything is there except for the backbox door. Polished shooter, lockdown bar, and push up rod. Legs and cashbox door painted a nice charcoal grey with automotive paint. Very nice card tray graphics. New playfield glass installed. I can deliver this game to the upcoming Pinfest show in PA.
@pinhead306, would you please post the link to the Atarians.
Two ‘special’ surprise EMs have been added to the lineup for the Pecos’ Palatial Pinball Parlour Pinball Party! They aren’t 100%, yet, but close enough to play.
I'm working on that with the seller. But want to see it in person before making the purchase. I'm out of the country until Friday though :/ The seller REALLY wants the game to go to someone that wants to restore it. I'm all for it, hardtop and new ramps but does anyone remake the backglass as a translite or vinyl?
#8231 5 years ago
Ive been looking for a new backglass because mine is in so so condition. There is nothing out there. You would have to find a used one somewhere is the only thing I could find. Maybe someone else knows of something I wasnt able to come across.
northvibe Try asking Shay Arcade Group. They do licensed backglasses and plastics sets, and they use the same exact silk screening technique originally used by the original manufacturers. He recently announced that he will be making Haunted House, Black Hole, Fathom, etc. I suggest that you go to the Comet group and see how many people would be interested in buying a Comet backglass. Then turn those numbers into Shay.
I have a used one that is faded but otherwise decent (if my memory is correct) if you happen to be heading to the Allentown pinball show next week or know anyone that is. I don't ship backglasses - it just isn't worth the risk in my eyes but I could bring it along to Allentown.
#8234 5 years ago
Whoever buys that Comet should pickup these displays from a guy on klov, pretty decent price:
Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Game/Type: Swing-Along / EM 2 Player
Month/Year: July, 1963
Production: 4,710
Cost: $400
Location: Nacogdoches, TX
Link/Contact: nacogdoches.craigslist.org link
OP: Very nice working, electro-mechanical pinball machine by D. Gottlieb & Co. of Chicago. This is a 1 player or 2 player machine...Play on your own or pit yourself against an opponant! When it comes to pinball, the condition of the backglass and playing field is very, very important! BACKGLASS IS NEARLY PERFECT!...PLAYING FIELD IS NEARLY PERFECT! A few nicks and scrapes on the exterior cabinet. This was the first pinball to feature spinning targets. This machine is from the wild '60s and features 2 Flippers, 4 Pop bumpers, 2 Slingshots, 3 Spinning targets, and 4 Standup targets. Set up for free play but can be easily switched to 10 cent coin play. Disassembles for easy transportation. Fun! Fun! Fun!
Is this worth anything?
Give him $20, haul it off. Strip everything out of the cabinet(the coin door, lockdown bar, etc, all look good), pull the playfield and hardware in the cab and then crunch the cab up for firewood. If the metal bits under the playfield are anywhere near as nice as the coin door, then you will likely make a profit(or have something nice to trade at the next swap meet).
#8244 5 years ago
I completely agree with this ^^^^
