Man, that's a sweet art package on the playfield.

Didn't realize they made flipperless games into the 60's!

Similar playfield layout to Bally Fun Cruise, Gay Cruise, and Deluxe Fun Cruise, but not the same artwork and missing the mushroom bumpers??

I just badgered my buddy "BingoPodcast" about this oddity. His thought was a Bally 'Beauty Contest' with a replacement BG.

Production: 4,950
Cost: $475
Location: Gig Harbor (Seattle), WA
Link/Contact: seattle.craigslist.org link

Condition: OP: "The back glass is in good shape -- I'd say it's a 7+ out of 10, with some minor flaking in the reds, which is very common on these games (this one is better than most High Hands I've seen).

The playfield is also in good shape, with bright colors and normal wear near the top arch. As the photos show, there are two wear spots just below the kickout hole, which also is normal, but I wanted to flag that.

The cabinet likely needs a full repaint (if you care about that), and the game is mechanically complete and will play, but does need a full tune-up."

Manufacturer: Bally
Game/Type: Champ / EM 4 Player
Month/Year: June 1973
Production: 4,070
Cost: $250
Location: West Greenwich (Providence), RI
Link/Contact: providence.craigslist.org link

Condition: Whoa! No cabinet bottom. Lots of Pics! OP: Although it does play, there are a few issues I need to point out (after the good points first). First, the playfield has been clearcoated, has new rubber bumpers and new playfield balls. All plastics are in decent shape, and no burnt coils. The legs have been painted black and there are new bolts to hold them on. The backglass is in OK shape with some flaking and evidence of someone's touch-up work. The original BG is also included, but is in very poor shape - a good candidate to be shipped & repainted if you feel the need.

Now for the faults... Although the machine does play well in player 1, the other score reels need to be taken apart & cleaned of grime. The bottom plywood of the main cabinet/relay area is missing, as well as the steel cover on the back of the head. The cabinet really needs to be repainted, but the original artwork is there for tracing the design. The score motor sounds like it needs to have a bearing replaced and operates real slow for the first 10 minutes of gameplay - a dab of oil temporarily fixes this (I have NOT done this recently so I can demonstrate the problem to you). The legs need new levelers - there are none. The top glass is in good shape and doesn't have any major scratches. I do not have the manual or the schematics.

Someone go buy this $50 pioneer right now. That's a crazy deal. Even the glass looks good

It's actually way nicer than the one we have at my dads house. I'd buy it if I wasn't going to pick up a corvette project tomorrow.

#778 8 years ago

OP states: "condition: salvage" That could mean a lot of things. Empty cabinet and backbox? Ha-ha! Hard to say no to $50, tho. Jeez.

Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Game/Type: Rescue 911/ DMD
Month/Year: May 1994
Production: 4000
Cost: $100 (Current bid)
Location: North Olmstead Ohio
Link/Contact: ebay.com link: itm

Condition: "Up for your consideration is this Rescue 911 pinball machine made by Gottlieb in the 90's. This is a working PROJECT machine. Game does play but flippers need work, no display board, need piece of glass cut for the new translite, and helicopter is missing."

Game doesn't look too far gone. Steve Young probably has most of the missing parts in stock. I brought back a similar Rescue 911 last summer. It had the helicopter though. Pretty fun little game honestly

Collector's project pin. A tad pricey.

Manufacturer: Gottieb
Game/Type: Dragon / EM 4 Player
Month/Year: October 1978
Production: 507 (!)
Cost: $800
Location: La Mesa (San Diego), CA
Link/Contact: sandiego.craigslist.org link

Condition: OP: "For sale/trade, Project condition Gottlieb dragon EM version. Gottlieb made over 7,000 dragon pinball machines, but only 507 were electro-mechanical, the rest were solid-state electronic versions. I have been collecting pinballs for 25 years and have owned many machines but I have never even seen one before.

Acquired it as a project, but will take a while for me to get to this one. Playfield, and back glass are in good shape. Cabinet has water damage and will need extensive work or replacement. I would consider trades for other pinball machines and may add cash for the right deal."

There's another on there for $1100 which is an insane price. Bought Dyn O Mite last year for $100 which seemed better. It wasn't close(NJ) but the trip was fun.

From the pix, this example looks about as nice as you're ever going to see. One attached here for posteriority. Too bad he didn't keep the box.

edit: interesting IPDB quote:
Notes: This is a factory-made coinless version of Allied Leisure's 1975 'Rock On'.

At Pinball Expo 2005, Troy Livingston, the VP of Manufacturing for Allied Leisure 1971-1977, said that two or three games of most every model were made coinless at the factory for friends of the company.

Don't spill drinks on the instruction cards - replacements may be difficult to obtain.

I have some interest in the 911 on ebay, what is it worth the way it sits? I know it is only about a $1200 machine in good working condition.

#799 8 years ago
Quoted from helicopter:

I have some interest in the 911 on ebay, what is it worth the way it sits? I know it is only about a $1200 machine in good working condition.

That particular machine is going to be difficult to restore. It's missing some unobtainable pieces, such as the helicopter's arm, all the helicopter parts and plastic. The speaker panel can be recreated (or pulled from a parts game), especially since PBR still carries the grills. The speaker panel plastic is only available from Germany--it'll probably cost around $75-$80 USD to get shipped.

http://www.pinball.center/en/shop/pinball-parts-by-game/rescue-911/4193/rescue-911-display-cover

Probably figure $200 on helicopter parts, $150 for a DMD, $15 to cut a new speaker panel, $40 for speakers, $16 for speaker grills, $15 for wire, connectors, and hardware, $80 for the speaker panel plastic. Plus a missing flipper button, and also probably flipper switches--$25. Also all the missing flippers--the assemblies are probably gone too--$200. I imagine there are also a few other surprise missing components/assemblies.

So, that's probably $750 in parts right there. That's *just* for the missing pieces. No telling if the topper is missing too or not. Plus all the replacement parts you need for rebuilding/repairing flippers and other assemblies. Probably another $250.

All in all, I probably wouldn't go over $300.

The wiring in the backbox is all hacked up on that one. Ugh. It doesn't look like you'll be able to separate the head, since someone used wire nuts in place of the connectors.

Also, it looks like the line-em-up board and display (an early version of the game over ball match) aren't present in the home models.
