Quoted from Matesamo:

I see all these new posts and think there are projects to be had! Oh well, drama has invaded, strange drama at that.
It’s sad to see a valuable asset to the community leave but it’s just as sad to see the reason why. When I post a project machine here it is to help a fellow Pinsider hopefully get a deal, not to get people to feel obligated to help me later. That’s not how paying it forward is supposed to work.
Maybe I am part of the problem. When I post a machine and it get local interest as well as someone who wants it shipped I will go with the local buyer 100% of the time. It just makes sense. I get cash in hand, the buyer gets to look and play the machine before buying it, they transport it and I made another local contact. To turn down cash, take time out of work to get the item shipped, hope it arrives safely and then to hope there is not a contested payment with PayPal if something happens... that’s just a nightmare waiting to happen.

"CASH on the Glass" is the only logical way to buy a pinball machine. Getting involved with shipping has never made sense to me. So I am the same way - you want it you come and get it in person. I don't ship pinball machines regardless. I know some people just don't seem to understand this but it is the only "safe way" for everyone. If you want something - find it locally or be willing to drive - it isn't all that hard to figure out.

As crazy as it sounds if that was closer to home I would be all over it. I have two Jungle Lord machines waiting for me to make one decent one out of two. With that machine I could likely make 2 out of 3 but I am not going to drive 2000 miles for a $200 machine.

Thanks to all the generous offers from everyone.

Sad to see you go, but I do wish you the best John. Pinside, despite its stable of trolls and keyboard warriors, is without a doubt a place still filled with people who are kind, brotherly/sisterly, and incredibly helpful. I for one, am grateful for your many contributions to the site.

Funny story on that Jungle Lord ... Yesterday, I saw an ad pop up in the FB marketplace for this game in Palm Bay for a mere $80. The pictures showed the machine sitting in/near some sort of building/garage/whatever. I was tied up (figuratively!) all day, and didn't have much interest in the game anyway, so didn't bother pursuing it. I knew it wouldn't last long at the price anyway. Sure enough, a few hours later, a new FB marketplace ad pops up -- same machine, but all new pics in the back of a pickup truck, this time for $200.

The CL list is gone already, so I guess they successfully completed the quick flip!

OP: Making room for the Christmas tree this year means i have to sell my pinball machine. I have had it for about 16 years, but now we've got a baby and we need the room. It works ok, but i have to reset it with a switch inside the money door to start it. It has some bumps and bruises. I will put pictures tomorrow or the next day. Price is negotiable.

Game: Mad World
Manufacturer: Bally
Type: EM - 4 Player
Month/Year: 05/1964
Production: 2050
Cost: $500
Location: Pittsfield, MA
Link/Contact: westernmass.craigslist.org link

OP: Bally Mad World. Playfield is excellent. Backglass is very nice with a couple areas of minor flaking as seen in the photos. Cabinet has a lot of flaking paint as typical of Bally games from that era. I bought this a few years ago and finally got around to setting it up. I think it had probably not been run in several years. The steppers were a bit stiff so I worked them a little and the game started up and played. That being said the game needs to be completely shopped and gone through. It's a bit of a project but a very cool, hard to find game. I should note there is some charring on the underside of the playfield as apparently there was a small fire inside at one time. It is shown in the pictures. It does not affect play and I see one newer coil in that area so I assume it was repaired long ago, as it is functioning now. I am lowering the price to $500 firm. Would also consider a trade for an Evel Knievel project. I already have a CPR backglass, playfield and plastics, so I can take a game that is really beat or somewhat incomplete.

Don't buy it, Pecos! Not because of the apron, but because PPPP deserves better.

I don't think Ted Zale fully understood the middle-pop thing. Safari didn't build upon Norm Clark's momentum... no space for "rebound air", no flipper drains, and the pop doesn't even fire. Blech!

Not sure what he was thinking. Obviously it didn't work since no others followed with this format.

It's an OK playing game if you've never played a middle-pop machine. Otherwise it's a bit would'a could'a been...
