Manufacturer: Bally
Game/Type: Mr. & Mrs. Pac-Man / SS AS-2518-35, 4 Player
Month/Year: May 1982
Production: 10,600
Cost: $450 Firm
Location: Dallas (Atlanta), GA
Contact/Link: nwga.craigslist.org link

Condition: "This Pinball machine isn't perfect. Today, was the first time is was plugged in about a year.

I started rebuilding it and other interests and projects have come up. Nothing real horrible with it. It's a playable project. Needs, a couple of displays rebuilt, the pacmaze works but I do have one of the IC's hacked with a jumper to put Voltages into the correct range(kind of hard to explain). It's a $2 IC, I've just never gotten around to it.....The old one is fading just barely out of limit and I tied it down a little on that leg to make it work(if that makes any sense at all haha)

Also needs...Drop targets, they are so brittle I broke 3 in one game. will also need some of the connectors and plugs changed.

The plastic is great!! The MPU was rebuilt by me, isn't a "Professional" looking job, but I'm confident that it's rock solid for a long time. Everything on the board is new. Along with the updated Ram to delete the battery.

Ok...So, if anyone is interested? It needs to go quick! I have to clear this space out soon. Once I move this thing to storage I'll pull the ad. I thought I'd throw it on here for what I'd let it go for before I have to move it. It's not perfect, but a solid start for a resto. $450 Firm.... The pop bumper caps aren't in the pics, but I do have them."

Speaking of...

The most (IN)Famous Project Pin ever to have graced our humble, sometimes hilarious forum!

Manufacturer: Sega
Game/Type: Baywatch / DMD DataEast/Sega Version 3b, 6 Player
Month/Year: February 1995
Cost: $3299
Location: Lexington, KY
Contact/Link: Pinsider wantdataeast https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/for-sale-baywatch-nearly-imamaculate

Condition: "FOR SALE: BAYWATCH - ONLY 600 PLAYS IN PAST 12 YEARS
Added: April 9th, 2018 Re-listed: 1 time
Condition: As is

ITEM DESCRIPTION
(All new lower price!)

This was in the same home non-smoking home for 12 years and in that time it saw only 600 plays (600 plays since 2006). And from the look of it, it saw very little play before that.

This is the lowest play machine Baywatch you are likely to find for a long while.

Playfield is magnificent, same on plastics. All switches work, Translight great, cabinet great, clean inside. Plays will no know issues.

It will need new rubbers, boards serviced (reflowed and new caps) I am happy to service the boards for you if you prefer. One of the blue pop bumper bases does has crack on the bottom under the playfield and needs to be replaced. I have purchased a replacement and will replaced prior to sale.

Like I said, it saw only 600 plays since 2006. It had batteries dated 2006 on board, and audited only 600 games. The guy that owns it didn't even know it had batteries on the board and lacked any knowledge of how to even find the audit menu...much less reset its game count.

Trade consider for nearly any top 40 pinside games. And would consider top 15 pinside games in project or better condition."

#8939 5 years ago

Manufacturer: Mylstar/Gottlieb
Game/Type: The Games / SS System 80A, 4 Player
Month/Year: August 1984
Production: 1,768
Cost: $250 Firm
Location: Forest Hills (Pittsburgh), PA
Contact/Link: pittsburgh.craigslist.org link

Condition: " Bought as a project a few years ago, got it to boot and play, then I had a kid. No time to work on it right now, so priced to sell today.

The bad: Backglass is pretty much gone. Some paint loss on playfield. At least one bumper will need rebuilt. Sound is sporadic. Some lamps are out, some act weird. Will need a rubber kit off eBay. Almost certainly other problems, haven't had time to get into it.

The good: Rebuilt power supply, new main filter capacitor, no acid damage on board (battery removed and acid neutralized). Boots and plays, cheap as dirt. ...With a day or two of work, could be good fun for the money, but I just don't have the time these days."

Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Game/Type: Duotron / EM 2 Player
Month/Year: September 1974
Production: 2,525
Cost: $550
Location: St. Clair Shores (Detroit), MI
Link/Contact: detroit.craigslist.org link

OP: Up for sale is a nice 1974 Gottlieb Duotron pinball machine. Overall it is in good physical condition but could use a few touch ups on the cabinet/coin door. It is a fun game and with the theme is a good family game that everyone can enjoy. At the moment single player games work well. There are a couple issues if you add the second playe. If you want the details on the updates you can read them below.

The game has LEDs in most of the back box and some color matched LEDs for the playfield insert lamps. The score reels were rebuilt and work very well. It had one chime coil and contacts replaced and has a new ball/rubber rings on it. Also has a new power cord. The schematics and other spare parts are included.

Single player games are fine. There seem to be a couple issues with the 2nd player if you do a two player came. First is that the 2nd player score reels don't always reset to 0. I do not believe this is a problem with the score reels. It seems more like a dirty contact or adjustment in the player unit.If I manually moved that I was able to get the 2nd player reels to reset to 0. The other issue is the play in play doesn't show when player 2 is up and the 2nd played doens't get the 5th ball. I'm sure someone used to working on EM games will be able to find the issue.

I don't want to deal with shipping at this time so it would need to be picked up in the Detroit, MI area. I can help with disassembly and loading. I'd prefer to sell this outright but would consider trading toward a working or project game like (Spectrum, Xenon, Vector, or Flash Gordon) and can make the appropriate adjustments on price depending upon what you have. From a smoke free home.

Only $550 for the pinball machine as pictured. E-mail if interested.

Price reduced from $550 to $425.

This is a rare pin. 3502 Jolly Roger pins were produced. Of that 3502, only 100 to 150 of this test sample was produced.

Source: https://pinside.com/pinball/search?q=jolly+roger

If rare is your thing........

Quoted from SkyKing2301:

I used to have a Jolly Roger ... what the difference / significance of the test sample? I.e., how could you tell?

Quoted from cottonm4:

EXCEPT THAT I READ it backwards. The one for sale is NOT the rare unit. Sorry.

Quoted from vec-tor:

The JOLLY ROGER Test-Sample-Games had a turquoise-colored Cabinet with purple and white Stripes, whereas the Serial-Run had a yellow-colored Cabinet with dark-blue and black Stripes.
O.K. you fixed it.
dark-blue, um... turquoise.

Wow...a guy steps away for a couple days and there's a flaming fifty-something posts to catch up on! This thread has been busy!

Yeah, Ryan. I didn't think it was possible but there is someone posting here who is *better* at finding Project Pins than I am. Congratulations bluespin for finding so many Project Pins! And lest I forget all of you others, including @captive_ball, who also contribute!

I have been busy touching-up the playfield on a Wizard! It's not something I am good at, so it takes me quite a while to get it right. I have already spent two weeks on it and I'm not done yet - but the end is in sight. But this is a special pinball and I want to get it 'right' - not perfect but very good.

I should also have some good news soon on the Pecos Pinball front.

Thanks everyone for keeping the Project Pins coming!

Condition: "1979 'Time Warp: a pinball journey through the future and the past'. In good condition. It's been sitting in my storage for years, and though the love of pinball is deeply rooted in my heart, it needs another home. When it was last put together it worked well until the power switch, which was always fussy, finally needed replacing. Because it's the bay area I simply did not have room for it.
Playfield is good but with wear where you would expect it. Lights worked great. I replaced the Eprom when i got it, maybe 50 hours of play/on time since. You won't be able to plug it in at my storage and it's being sold as-is.
It's given a 7.9/10 fun score from the internet pinball database (ipdb.org), rare for a machine of this age. It has the optional 'banana flippers' which adds some unique gameplay elements."

It's why we don't play it anymore. It always had some interior parts/sections missing, but somehow was still playable. It has original schematics and other misc papers and parts for the buyer. I took a video of him testing it and opening it up and describing what he remembered about this game. Use this link to watch it on YouTube:

This machine was playable back in early 2000's as our basement was the game room for all our friend's kids. This honey kept score, and was very enjoyable at one time."

For those of you posting Project Pins: I will be changing the format of my Project Pin posts. If you want to learn some simple HTML, you too can use HTML to simplify how the post looks. Not for the technically challenged or the faint of heart!

Old Format:

Manufacturer: Williams
Game/Type: Seven Up / EM 1 Player
Month/Year: March 1969
Cost: $400
Location: Harrisburg (St. Louis), IL/MO
Contact/Link: https://carbondale.Craigslist.org/clt/d/1969-williams-seven-up/6652370739.html

Condition: Playfield and backglass look nice.

New Format:

Manufacturer: Williams
Game/Type: Seven Up / EM 1 Player
Month/Year: March 1969
Cost: $400
Location: Harrisburg (St. Louis), IL/MO

Condition: Playfield and backglass look nice.

Note that in the new format the 'Contact/Link:' line has been removed and the game name is underlined, meaning it is linked to a Website, the Craigslist Website where you will find the ad for Seven Up.

The HTML to do this is very simple.

HTML - Linking to a URL - Pinside Specific (resized).pngHTML - Linking to a URL - Pinside Specific (resized).png

The text in the quotes is the URL or link address. The text after the right angle bracket is the text you want to see in the final copy, linked to the URL you specified.

Some technical jargon:

This is standard HTML format for linking to a Website:

HTML - Linking to a URL Standard (resized).pngHTML - Linking to a URL Standard (resized).png

I have added '%43' in place of the 'c' for 'craigslist' in the URL address:

%43raigslist.org = Craigslist.org

This is done to cornfuse the Pinside server so it doesn't recognize the URL as a Craigslist URL.

You MUST make this change in the Website address for this to work on Pinside!

This isn't for everyone - only those of you who want to learn a little HTML. I wanted to show you how it is done.

Quoted from steviechs:

Just my 2 cents; I think this will be confusing as usually the pin title is linked to the game page.

Quoted from Coyote:

I kinda agree, as a lot of these games I hadn't heard of, and when the name isn't linked manually, I can click it to get taken to Pinside's version of the machine's page, to get info and better pics of it (than on a Craigslist ad). Usually, at least.

Quoted from ForceFlow:

This isn't practical for the forums between the way the CL links are parsed, and the way the game titles are parsed.

As you've already seen, you had to try to work around it.

Honestly, it's just extra work that isn't necessary.

I would rather see the link I'm clicking on, rather than leaving it hidden behind text, in any case. Keep it simple and just copy & paste

Okay you guys. Just go ahead and rain on my parade, will ya! I'm big enough to take some honest criticism. Sniffle, sniffle!

In case you haven't noticed, that previous paragraph is dripping with

Actually, I would rather have honest feedback than sycophantic panderings. The Project Pinsters have spoken and @bluespins new format it is.

My IT background is showing. It WAS fun reliving IT for a few minutes trying to find a workaround! Love those IT challenges!

Quoted from ryan1234:

Maybe some guys won’t understand the new way- and I will beat them to a pin

There you go! It was a secret way to encode the link so only those 'in the know' can find the coveted Project Pin of their dreams, kind of like a secret handshake!

Carry on Project Pinsters!

Quoted from bluespin:

OP: Free pinball machine looks like the mice go into it

No pics and with all of those mice in there it sounds like a real crap shoot!

#9892 5 years ago
Quoted from too-many-pins:

I always love the ones the mice are still living in. Nothing like having company on the ride home!

Because Project Pinsters are often around and trying to remove mouse urine and feces I need to make you aware of this concern. You may have heard of the hantavirus outbreak that killed some people in the desert southwest, called The 1993 Four Corners Hantavirus Outbreak. From Wikipedia, "From April to May 1993, there were 24 reported cases. Twelve of those people died, or 50% mortality rate. Of the 24 cases, 14 were Native Americans, nine were non-Hispanic white and one was Hispanic."

You may not be aware that hantavirus is mostly dormant during periods of droughts when mice populations decline. When mouse populations boom, the number of contacts with humans increase and the number of cases of HPS increase. However, the hantavirus is still out there. A woman was killed this year from the hantavirus in New Mexico.

From the CDC:

https://www.cdc.gov/hantavirus/pdf/hps_brochure.pdf

"Facts About Hantaviruses"

"Hantaviruses are a group of viruses that may be carried by some rodents. Some hantaviruses can cause a rare but deadly disease called hantavirus pulmonary syndrome. The disease is called HPS for short."

"While HPS is a very rare disease, cases have occurred in all regions of the United States except for Alaska and Hawaii."

"Only some kinds of mice and rats can give people hantaviruses that can cause HPS. In North America, they are the deer mouse, the white-footed mouse, the rice rat, and the cotton rat. However, not every deer mouse, white-footed mouse, rice rat, or cotton rat carries a
hantavirus. Other rodents, such as house mice, roof rats, and Norway rats, have never been known to give people HPS. Since it is hard to tell if a mouse or a rat carries a hantavirus, it is best to avoid all wild mice and rats and to safely clean up any rodent urine, droppings, or nests in your home."

"People get HPS when they breath in hantaviruses. This can happen when rodent urine and droppings that contain a hantavirus are stirred up into the air. People can also become infected when they touch mouse or rat urine, droppings, or nesting materials that contain the virus and then touch their eyes, nose, or mouth. They can also get HPS from a mouse or rat bite."

You shouldn't be overly concerned every time you buy a pinball machine that mice have used for their hotel. Like electricity, you do need to have a healthy respect for the disease.

These are some of the guidelines that I have used in the past or will be using in the future when disinfecting a pinball machine with mouse/rat urine and feces:

Do NOT bring the machine in the house or garage unless you must.
Do NOT vacuum or try to sweep up the feces.

DO take the mech board, cabinet, playfield and whatever parts show signs of urine or feces outdoors to disinfect.
DO wear a mask sufficient for filtering out small particles.
DO wet the urine and feces with a mixture of water and bleach in a spray bottle.
DO use paper towels to remove the urine and feces. Repeat until area has been thoroughly cleaned. Dispose of paper towels properly in the garbage.
DO paint the area of urine and feces after drying, if possible.

In addition, the CDC recommends wearing rubber or plastic gloves, washing them in a disinfectant after use and then disposing into the garbage.

According to the CDC, the proper bleach to water solution is:

"Mix 1 ½
cups of household bleach with 1
gallon of water. Smaller amounts can
be made with 1 part bleach and 9
parts water."

If you are going to be cleaning out a pinball machine with obvious signs of mouse activity, it is a good idea to read the entire CDC article.

Stay safe out there!

Nic, you should grab a Safari and put a real pop bumper in there - in two or three years when you have some time! Those late 60s Ballys are unique and getting hard to find. How hard could it be to put in a bumper that would pop? It sure would add a lot to the fun factor.

IPDB shows a Safari with a pop bumper.

I just put a Travel Time on route, my first pin on route. Now, you can own one for yourself. It's a truly unique game based on 'Time Units' and not balls per game.

I can't tell from the information given if this is a Project Pin or not! That usually means Project Pin.

This is a players condition game. The backglass has some flaking (not terrible). The playfield has moderate wear and some touch ups. None of these things detract from the function or fun of the game.

Includes laminated copy of schematics and instruction manual."

OP: If you like tinkering and making a nice profit , this machine is for you. Too many projects to delve into this one.
This machine refurbished retails off the charts (I've seen 5k to 7k)
Who doesn't like "THE WHO" and the play Tommy?
The machine plays but left flipper is weak, needs either adjusting or contacts need cleaning.
Backglass is cracked lower bottom right corner. New replacement glass is 225.00 and has a darker Tina Turner then the original. More realistic.
Playfield is good for a players game, if you want to resell for top dollar buy a new Overlay and make it look pretty.
Artwork has the cool retro used look but new decals and paint are out there for the refurb.
Coin door is in pretty good shape.
The machine is complete, the unique flags on the playfield are fully functional.
995.00 come and get it, classic pinball machines in this price range are pretty hard to find.

Machine is playable, left flipper is weak.

Would make a nice player in the home, to make it nice and worth a bundle figure on replacing the playfield, the backglass (broken lower corner) and stenciling the side art.

JAG94
I suspect you got them. If so, glad someone got them. Just curious, what was the second machine, and what kind of shape were the play fields?
Inquiring people want to know.

The second game is a Bally Wizard!, 1975. It appears to be in very poor shape.

I thought ‘gone’ meant toast, damaged beyond repair, destroyed, worthless, etc. I hope I am wrong and JAG94 got them.

Manufacturer: Williams
Game/Type: World Cup / SS System 3, 4 Player
Month/Year: May 1978
Production: 6,253
Cost: $350
Location: Hayward / Castro Valley (San Francisco), CA
Contact/Link: sfbay.craigslist.org link

Condition: "Decent project 3" flipper game, Williams World Cup pinball machine. Needs board work - which I cannot do.

For reference, there is a World Cup for sale for $999 on CL right now if all you want to do is fix this one and flip it.

51 photos can be downloaded here for the next 6 days.
Download link
https://we.tl/t-Y3C1nEvABM

I picked up a solid project game I was hoping to restore as it has good bones, but the board restoration is beyond me. When I bought the game it turned on, booted with startup music, and displays lit up. Now it turns on, and does not boot up, does not start a game. So much for my "working" project. \-(

PM me if you have any questions or need additional pictures.

My inability to do board repair your gain.

World Cup details, here is what I see ... take careful look at photos
Turning on Game
- game turns on and lights are lit
- does not start game

Cosmetics
- all plastics intact, no breaks
- i already replaced the backbox lights with several boxes of new bulbs
- decent cabinet
- mirrored back glass, front looks fine from players position, but there are some missing paint areas which I took detailed photos

Boards
- boards all original
- no acid burn on boards, there is a remote battery already installed.
- since boards have no acid burns it makes it a good candidate for your board repair
- took close up pictures where the boards chips are toasty
- manual and schematics included (see photos to check out schematics)

Playfield
- under playfield clean and no hacks that I can see
- three places of wear - all in solid color areas so good candidate for touch up
- rest of playfield is in above average condition, but swirl marks need to be scrubbed out (I use Bleech White)
- pop bumper skirts needs replacement

World Cup never started a game, so I do not know what works, or doesn't work on the playfield.

- 6254 made

- Williams System 3, which means if you have a Contact, Disco Fever, Hot Tip, or Lucky 7 you can interchange boards.Nearly 25,000 games made with System 3 boards - World Cup being the most popular.

- 2 flippers, 2 pops, 2 kick out holes, 2 ball kickers, 2 stand up targets, 1 spinning target

- Christian Marche art

Thanks for looking"

It's sort of not working, it's functionality has been erratic since I got it. I bought it supposedly working and when I got it home i couldn't get it to work right but it was sort of working. I messed with it a bit, (cleaning switches, etc.) and the problems seemed to get worse to where it wasn't working at all (it seemed like one or two coils were locking up). That was months ago. Today I took it out and tried it and it worked almost fine. I took a video of the functionality for anyone who wants to see it"

Ha! Glad to be back! I would like to post here more often. But the time I used to spend finding and posting Project Pins is now spent collecting and entering Pecos Pinball income, expenses, travel and entertainment. Guess which I would rather be doing? But, needs must.

I check out the thread a couple of times a day and enjoy the friendly banter going on here. @bluespin, Captive_Ball and others are doing a great job of finding Project Pins at reasonable prices. In case you haven't noticed, it is getting harder and harder to find bargain-priced pins which makes their efforts all the more noteworthy.

pecos Is this in your area?

Yes it is. Fortunately, it has been sold to a guy whose daughter wanted a pinball machine. I'm full up on pins and 86 on cash! Honey is a perfect fit for her and I am glad that she is getting it.

I haven't even been keeping up with Tucson Craigslist, let alone this thread. I'm sorry I haven't been able to post here as much as I would like. A pinball operator business is a full time job. bluespin and so many more have done a wonderful job finding project pins. I am thankful for all who post here.

I miss my Project Pin family! But needs must and I have been busy putting restored pins in Tucson businesses, restoring Project Pins, buying parts, keeping up with all of the fees and paperwork required of a sole proprietorship - well, you get the idea.

I now have eight machines on location in Tucson.

One is at Hotel McCoy. That is my best friend, Dave, who helps me move pins:

Travel Time Hotel McCoy (resized).pngTravel Time Hotel McCoy (resized).png

One special machine, Firepower is at D&D Pinball:

Six are at Hotrods Old Vail:

Six pins Hotrods (resized).pngSix pins Hotrods (resized).png

On Sunday the 23rd of December, Pecos Pinball had a Free Pinball Day at Hotrods. It was a big success. At least once, all six games were being played and they were played almost continuously all day. Almost as many free games of pinball were given away as were paid for in the entire month of December. More on Free Pinball Day:

Quoted from cottonm4:

The question are:

Was it underpriced at $325.00?

Is it worth $425.00?

I'd pay $425 for it in a heartbeat! A working OXO in good condition is worth about $600.

Quoted from bluespin:

No and no. pecos might disagree with me lol

Ha ha! You knew I would. The $600 price comes from the Pinside listing for OXO and I think it is pretty much right on target for a nice one, but not for a Project Pin.

Quoted from Green-Machine:

I have free growler fill ups with the purchase of a pin.
Unadvertised of course.

Edit: OXO already gone! Someone thought it was worth $425...

I am looking for a 'special' pinball to do a video series of my entire restoration process. OXO would fit the bill. I can no longer look for Project Pins, too much of a risk that I will buy one or ten! bluespin is doing me a huge favor keeping the thread going, otherwise I would probably have 75 Project Pins in my house by now and planks to crawl over the machines crammed into the nooks and crannies.

I could use one of my existing Project Pins, but was kind of hoping for an OXO.

I'm not asking for any favors, special shipping, special pricing, etc. If anyone finds an OXO in Arizona, could you please PM me. Thanks!

'Red Flags.'

I don't look at Craiglist for pinballs anymore. I don't have the money or the room for more pins. But for some reason I checked the Tucson Craigslist last night and found a game on my wishlist, Flash, in Tempe, that I have been wanting for years. It was a Project Pin but priced right, too right, at only $300.

Red Flag - Yellow Flag #1: Priced well below market value. I should change this to 'Yellow Flag' because I have found some amazing under-priced Project Pins here in Arizona.

The ad had been up for eight hours already so I was expecting it to be sold already. But I replied to the ad by email and to another ad that he had for a Silverball Mania.

I received two emails in the morning saying 'I do' which was rather bizarre since I wasn't asking if he still had the machines. I was offering to buy them.

Red Flag #2: Email answered with what seemed like a canned reply, as if he hadn't even read my email.

One of the ads had a phone number so I called him up and told him that I was looking for a Flash. I told him that I was driving from Tucson and would he hold them for me? I offered $100 more than he was asking for the two machines. He told me that he couldn't do that and that he had someone there wanting them/it. I told him that I had to go to my Credit Union to get the money.

Red Flag #3: Telling me that he had someone there but the games were still available?

I offered to put $100 in his Paypal account if he would hold them for me. I wasn't about to drive almost two hours to Phoenix to find that he had sold the game(s) to someone else. I have learned that this promise is important!! He told me he didn't want that!

Red Flag #4: Why wasn't he willing to work with me? I was offering more than he asked? I was offering a down payment, sight unseen.

Red Flag #5: I got the feeling that he wanted several people to show up so he could have a 'Flash Auction', pun intended.

I then asked for his address and he told me that he would text it to me after I had the money in my hand. Huh?

Red Flag #6: What kind of games were this seller playing? Why wouldn't he give me his address? Why did I have to waste the time to drive to my Credit Union?

I went to my Credit Union. I really wanted Flash. It is one of the games in the great early Williams solid state games trilogy. I already own Firepower and Black Knight.

I called J**** again and told him I was at my Credit Union. He told me that someone was coming to look at Flash which seemed to contradict his earlier statement that he had a possible buyer already there. I told him that I wasn't coming up to Tempe until he accepted or declined my offer. He told me that it was probably better that I not come then.

Apparently this was a 'cash in hand' seller. Or was he looking for more money? He has the right to accept or not the offers that come his way. But what was with all the games? I did not take money out of my Credit Union and I did not make the hot drive to Tempe. I have no hard feelings, sometimes Craigslist sales go like this and I am certain that I made the right choice by passing on this rather strange Craigslist Project Pin opportunity.

It reads like
Dr. Seuss!
Excellent!

I do not like to Tempe hike
I do not like to Tempe bike!

I do not like it in the rain
I do not like it in a plane!

I do not like to go by truck
Arriving safely is but luck!

From the pictures you must guess
Whether or not there is a mess!

Up to Tempe you must dash
If you want to get the Flash
Don't forget to bring the cash!

If you want my address to know
To the bank you first must go
Let me know when it is so
Only then will I let you know!

Mania of the silverball you have, no?
Up to Tempe you must go!

Your love for pinball means
Higher prices for my machines
But only if you're first, it seems!

Best of luck on your quest
I do not this say just in jest
Bring the most to be the best
I like Benjies in my vest!

And don't bring Old Pueblo 'tudes
We don't like no Tucson dudes!

Just thought someone working on a serious project might have a need - otherwise ignore\delete if post is inappropriate for this thread.

They are not inappropriate at all. In fact, free cabinets are perfect fodder for this thread. Thanks for posting them!

This thread is dedicated to saving some of the marvelous mechanical machines and their parts that I had so much fun playing in my youth. It's not devoted to Dr. Seuss rhymes, no matter how much fun they might be.

Contact/Link: denver.craigslist.org link

OP: "Hey everyone,

Well there seems to be a little bit of interest as far as having things to sell at a swap meet. So I'm going to make it happen. don't know how great the turnouts going to be but that's going to be reliant on you guys, the pinball community.

We will have the south side patio of the hotel.

Sunday May 26th, 8-10 am.

No cost to sell or attend.

The Colorado Pinball Club will provide donuts and coffee. (while supplies last)

Please contact me for further details or if you have stuff to sell.

Swapmeet @ pinball showdown dot com

I'm hopeful that this is a success.

****Update***

You can park your vehicle next to the patio. You can sell from your truck if you want. There is also grass and of course the patio. Power is available, but you will need a extension cord.

I've also attached pictures of the location. South side of the hotel

OP: 1966 Williams 8 Ball, needs work. Plastics are warped and will need to be straightened or replaced. Lights up and plays, score reels seem to work ok. A few switches don’t register currently. Backglass is in decent shape, playfield is ok with some areas of wear but not bad for a 1966 machine. Prior owner stripped the cabinet and stained it, could be left as is or primed and painted.

Good start to a project and a machine you don’t see very often!

I've done many a game with this type of mouse nest damage...it's not a big deal. Frankly, people are a little paranoid about this subject...but that's fine - to each their own. I'll take em if y'all can't stomach it...someone's got to!

I've been through two Project Pins with (former) mice residents. Op-Pop-Pop was the worst with about 50 wires that had been denuded needing replacement or heat shrink tubing. There is no need to be paranoid, but you do need to be careful. Please read this if you are going to be removing rodent feces or urine:

Invitation to all EM fixers, restorers and Wanna Be's:

I am going through all the major parts of an EM and explaining them and what might go wrong. In this post, I share my method for cleaning and adjusting relays:

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/a-pecos-quiz-diagnosing-em-and-early-ss-pin-problems/page/4#post-5149435

I miss posting here, but I have two other threads to update and a small little thing called Pecos Pinball.

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/a-pecos-quiz-diagnosing-em-and-early-ss-pin-problems/
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/a-pecos-diary-my-journey-to-pinball-operator/

You are welcome to visit and participate if you want. If you are interested in becoming a pinball operator, have a gander at the second link above. It's a tell-all diary of my journey to becoming a pinball operator in Tucson, Arizona.

I have been watching this thread from the sidelines become a small community of helpful posters. I applaud you all! You guys are awesome!

#13506 4 years ago
Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

I’ve followed the operator thread! I’d love to operate some day. Going to put one of my games out at an arcade soon!

Awesome!!

I started the thread to share everything that I experienced, the good and the bad, but mainly to encourage others to have a go at their own pinball operator biz. There have been so many hurdles along the way that I wonder if ANYONE would want to be an operator after reading the thread! But I love pinball and I love having my own business and I love the people I interact with so it is so much worth the time and effort.

@isochronic_frost, be sure to have some fun on your journey! I would love to hear some of your stories on the operator thread when you get your business started.

Quoted from Pin-Pilot:Anyone interested in an EM pin 1969 Williams Smart Set? I have one for sale on Craigslist. Mechanically it works 100%. The cabinet, and Back glass are in poor condition. The play field is in decent shape but needs touchups.
This was my first pinball game I bought as a project. The previous owner had it sitting outside on his covered patio. I rebuilt all the score reels, pop bumpers and went through the game to get it working.

I tried. I tried really hard. I posted them two days ago here on the Project Pin thread. They were listed six days on CL. Six days! That is forever in the Project Pin acquisition world. Usually Project Pins at these prices are gone in a day or two.

It was just meant to be that I would be hauling these two pins home to Pecos' Palatial Pinball Parlour. I got the cash needed on Monday. They were still available last night when I called. How could I pass them up? I did try, but the Williams 8 Ball has great art. It was one of only a few Williams EMs that kept track of each of two players pool balls earned using separate stepper units for each player. Player 1 plays balls 1-7. Player 2 plays balls 9-15. The balls have to be earned, in order, then each player shoots for the 8 ball! This player 'memory' feature is quite a feat of engineering for an EM era pin and not found on many of them. It's a Norm Clark Middle-Pop pin! I now have three, almost like I am collecting them!

#surfers is missing the backglass but the price reflected that. There were only 908 of them made! It is a Ted Zale zipper flipper pin! It has three 2" flippers! The art is fun with a pelican pilfering a swim suit top on the backglass and another pelican pilfering a swim suit bottom on the playfield - didn't know that pelicans were perverts!

It is my birthday this week so this was a nice Project Pin pick up for my birthday.

I could put them on route.

They are collectible.

I didn't have to drive to Phoenix to get them - only twelve miles away.

The price was right.

How could I pass these up? It was just destined to be.

Four months ago I wrote:

"'Red Flags.'

I have no hard feelings, sometimes Craigslist sales go like this and I am certain that I made the right choice by passing on this rather strange Craigslist Project Pin opportunity."

And then after @vec-tor mentioned that it read like Dr. Seuss I felt like having some fun so I wrote this to summarize the whole sad affair:

"I do not like to Tempe hike
I do not like to Tempe bike!

I do not like it in the rain
I do not like it in a plane!

I do not like to go by truck
Arriving safely is but luck!

From the pictures you must guess
Whether or not there is a mess!

Up to Tempe you must dash
If you want to get the Flash
Don't forget to bring the cash!

If you want my address to know
To the bank you first must go
Let me know when it is so
Only then will I let you know!

Mania of the silverball you have, no?
Up to Tempe you must go!

Your love for pinball means
Higher prices for my machines
But only if you're first, it seems!

Best of luck on your quest
I do not this say just in jest
Bring the most to be the best
I like Benjies in my vest!

And don't bring Old Pueblo 'tudes
We don't like no Tucson dudes!"

All's well that ends well, so the saying goes and today all ended fantastic! I got my #flash! It's a real beauty.

Quoted from pinostalgia:

pecos took off in a flash

Four Months Ago:

I dashed for the cash but seller and I clashed so, no Flash.

Take it from me, don't start Dr. Seussing your sentences. Your brain will turn to mush.

Quoted from dc2010:

So....I feel like a part of the story is missing.....like the part RIGHT before the ending

Quoted from cottonm4:

The rest of the story, please. Is this the same Flash with the flaky seller? Or is it a different Flash?

And now, the rest of the story.

FLASH!!!

Ever since I got a Black Knight in Prescott, Arizona, I have been on the hunt for the other three of the 'Fantastic Four', Flash, Gorgar and Firepower. I found a Firepower here in Tucson and a Gorgar in Mesa.

Flash, what I thought would be the easiest of the four to find, eluded me - until today! I had a chance to get one in Phoenix, but the seller got all Squirrely on me.

The 'Fantastic Four' pinball machines, all manufactured by Williams, changed forever how pinball machines would be designed and built. Flash introduced some cool brushed aluminum ball guides by the flippers along with some awesome sound effects and light show. From IPDB: "'Flash' was the first game from any manufacturer to have a dynamic background sound during gameplay. It is also the first game from any manufacturer to use Flash Lamps, which provide a temporary burst of flashing light intended primarily for the sake of its visual effect, in contrast to the usual playfield lamps that either provide constant general illumination or turn on and off only as indicators of specific playfield objectives or their point values." It just felt like a next generation pinball machine.

Gorgar came along next and added speech to make pinball a more personal experience.

Then came the blockbuster Firepower. It introduced lane change and was the first solid state multi-ball pin. It was also the first game to have animated displays when multi-ball started.

Finally, but not lastly, Black Knight was the first solid state pinball machine with two levels and was the first pinball to use Magna-Save. A new concept, bonus ball, added a timed extra ball to the player with the highest score when two or more players played at the same time.

I will be routing these games and would love to see them all together at one location. I will be working on that.

I want to thank my Tucson Video Arcade guy for getting this Flash for me. When I was there last week picking up 8 Ball and Surfers we ended up talking about the 'Fantastic Four' and how I only needed Flash to complete the set. He said he knew where one was. I didn't want to get my hopes up after missing out on other opportunities that left me empty-handed. He texted me on the day after my birthday that he had the Flash in his shop. The pictures showed a nice looking machine and the price was more than reasonable. Included in the deal were some stencils for Flash and Supersonic, a box full of boards and a transformer. He brought the machine back from Sierra Vista for me and I picked it up today. I was stunned and shocked when I saw the condition of the playfield. It looks brand new! The drop targets even had brand new looking decals.
After such a long time waiting for Flash and a pick-upous-interruptous along the way, I couldn't be happier! Thank You Tucson Video Arcade Guy!! I told him that this is the best birthday present that I had ever gotten - and it is!!

[pics removed] You can view them here - https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/what-machine-did-you-bring-home-today-post-your-pictures/page/272#post-5210875

The Fantastic Four Williams pinball machines have a very special place in my pinball heart. They were a ton of fun to play. They were also the last pins I played on location until just a few years ago. I remember each one fondly and feel honored to have all four in my collection. I am pleased and excited to be able to share these Fantastic Four with other Tucsonans awaiting to have wonderful memories of them added to their life experiences.

Someone please pinch me so I can tell that this is not a dream!

Good Day!!

Got new spare pins. Also have 3 pinball machines, one needs some wood work, when I bought it it was sitting on coin end and has some wood rot but everything is there.
1 Williams BEAT TIME, 1, Bally Knock out, 1, Gotlieb SUPER SCORE pin ball machines. Was going to restore all of them. Some more work than other, but I am permanently in this wheelchair now and just can't do it. So selling all as one deal. Other Detroit shuffle bowler sold at 1000 just by itself when cleaned up. Both of the other shuffle contact bowlers worked before taken apart. Probably need cleaning. Have some schmatics. Just all my stuff goes. Most of us don't have garages or basements in Tucson. I can always cram in another Project Pin, but it's getting to the point that even I want to move some pins out of Pecos' Palatial Pinball Parlour.

Quoted from dc2010:

I honestly think @pecos. Should get that

That's awfully nice of you to say @dc2010. I am looking to buy some newer pins and this is a cheap way to buy a Williams System 9. Reno is only 879 miles away from me, 14 hours one way!

What you guys think of the price considering the condition,i have no idea.also it's a six and half hour roundtrip from me 400 miles.

You don't need a lot of money up front. The playfield and backglass are passable. No more money needed there. At least one of the plastics is broken and some may be missing, so you would need a new set, if they are available. I would be concerned that all of the parts were there considering some of the playfield was disassembled. Working on the ramps would concern me a bit. The board work is to be expected for a game at this price, but they seem to be all there. Overall, a great bang for the buck price for what you are getting. Caveat, I will buy Project Pins in any condition. You may not be as willing as I am to take on Project Pins from the Island of Misfit Pins.

Roger that...until pecos tells me otherwise!

I won’t tell you otherwise. Bring ‘EM on!

I, personally, am not that interested in auctions because of the commissions involved, but if it were a pin I was looking for...

Estate sales can be a good place to find a Project Pin. Question, do estate sales have commissions for the seller/auctioneer? Are the pins usually auctioned or sold for a set price? We have an online auction place here in Tucson that does a lot of estate sales and you can get some really good bargains with no commissions.

Manufacturer: Bally
Game/Type: Wizard! / EM 4 Player
Month/Year: September 1974
Production: 10,005
Cost: $850 Firm
Location: Reno, NV
Contact/Link: Pinsider: TheDrewster, The 8-Bit Pit, https://pinside.com/pinball/market/classifieds/ad/88085

Condition: "Looking to sell another project I won’t be working on. The game coins up and plays, but sporadically. The playfield and backglass are absolutely beautiful. However, at one point in its life, the bottom was “broken into” to steal the quarters, so there’s a piece of wood covering the hole in the base. Replacing the baseboard is the only major thing it needs. The rest of the machine is in real darn good shape!

The machine will need to be gone through with new rubbers and cleaning of course. It’s been completely untouched by me, and I never even put it together since taking it home. Asking $1000. And yes the legs and hardware are all included as well."

Hello Project Pinsters!

With the tanking of the economy and so many of our friends and family not working, I expect to see an increased supply of Project Pins on the market. This almost always means lower prices, perhaps even prices that we haven't seen in a couple of years.

With this in mind, many of us will be tempted to go out and buy these bargains. I know I will. However, I ask you to please remember that you are increasing your risk of catching the CoVid-19 coronavirus if you do so.

We are all adults here, at least by age, and far be it from me to tell you what to do. However, as the OP, I feel it would be irresponsible for me to not mention the additional risks you would be taking by meeting strangers at a time when the virus is just beginning to explode in the United States.

I have done a lot of research on the CoVid-19 outbreak and know more about it than the average bear. If you can find the time, you might want to read this post I made about some basic facts, disinfection, what to expect, a way to lessen the chance of getting the virus and when we can expect the outbreak to end.

Best wishes landing that special Project Pin you have been looking for at a price you can afford. But, please, stay safe out there!
