    Quoted from zatname:

Sorry not sure if this crazy question has been asked?
1/ would it be possible to buy all parts to build a complete machine? Say a new Stern for example.
2/ Anybody have any idea (excluding time involved) what that would cost?
Just curious due to the ongoing price increases to what that might be.
    Thanks in advance pinheads!

I have not done the math on this, but if it's anything like a car it would cost a LOT more to try to build it from scratch with off the shelf retail parts. Now that I'm processing it, I'd love to know what it -would- cost to build one from scratch. Can you imagine if manufacturers sold you a crate of parts to assemble on your own, with no warranty, for a discount? It's an interesting idea to think about.

"Crazy" questions can be fun to ponder...
